I bought this game after I read about how great nintendo power thinks it is. I don't think I have ever played a better RPG game than this ever aside from Final Fantasy 7. If you have a N64, get this game. You won't be sorry. Oh, and there is a pirate on Amazon.com named KC Media that steals your money and gives you crappy things instead of what you really ordered. If you are buying Nintendo 64 games, and especially Nintendo 64 controllers, do not buy from him!! He is a CROOK!!! But this game is excellent and worthy of anyone's Nintendo 64 collection!

This Game is GREAT!!!!!!!!

I own Super Mario RPG and that was a great game and so is Paper Mario!!! When I bought it I was blown away by the sound and great graphics even if most of it is 2-D. The music is some of the best I've heard and I love the classic Bowser's got Princess game. It is highly addictive.
I also thought the creative, new battle system was great!
If you are a fan of Mario get this game, now!!!

It's good

The game looks like it's for little kids, but don't let it's Yoshi's Story aesthetic lead you into thinking that PM is just for short stuffs. Sure the game is very easy, but it manages to provide sastifying fun almost every step of the way. If you've ever been a fan of Mario, PM will deliver the kind of fun you expect from him. Marioesque touches fill the game from it's worlds of Koopas and Toads to invisible blocks and panels that you must punch or hammer to cover the secert power-ups. Even the RPG system of battling maintains the Mario feel by letting you interact in the turn-based battles(a well timed controller tap will determine the strength of your attack/defense.) Surprisingly, PM is only the 2nd true sequel of Mario on the
N64. It may be flat, but it never falls flat. Classic Mario all the way.

Watch out cause this is it!

The game shocked me well how about you? well here's it. The game looks like a kids game but it's actually it is harder than you think. Some puzzles will frustrate you and some battles are pretty hard but overall the game is just plain fun. If you have an N64 I suggest you go out and buy one.

as soon as I saw this game hit the market I thought it was the gayest thing on eart. My friend came over and I tried it and i fell in love just like with girls (im hard to resist all girls want me). I got so addicted to the game. I dont mind the graphics and the music is pretty good. I love the battles and the sidekicks you get throughout the game. I am a 12 year old video game programmer and Out of all the hundreds of games I helped design this is one of the best games i ever played. I recommend this game for 6-100 year olders.

Blah blah blah

I was really excited when I heard this was coming out. First time I saw it on the video store shelves I rented it. It was a really fun game, but talk about blabber mouths! The characters were funny, the graphics were cute; the only thing drawing this game back is the talk bubbles! I would recommend renting this game instead of buying it. It's fun, but really not that much of a challenge, and who wants to listen to the same speech all over again? and again? and again?

This is a wonderful game. I enjoyed no end. Both my grandson, age 10 and I, age 64 enjoyed it. He played the boses and I walked around and got mario up in skills and point. No way I have ever enjoyed a game more. AAAAA+++++

Well, I won a free game rental at Video Plus, so I chose this game. Let me tell you, I was happy with my choice. I loved everything about it. I played for about 10 hours every day (I'm not kidding about that), and finished it before my rental period was over. I'm glad I managed that feat, because otherwise I would have wept when it was time to return it.

The worlds you'll travel to are so cool. I found myself exploring a giant toybox, a colorful garden, and a gorgeous desert palace, among many other environments. Since I didn't use a strategy guide, I was constantly wondering what would come next.

As I travelled the extensive world, I met many party members who would help me out, both in battle and in puzzles and exploration. Each partner has their own distinctive combat abilities, puzzle solving skill, and personality. For example, Watt, a sweet, good-natured sun ball that joins you in the Shy Guy Toy Box, can use electric shocks to attack in battle, and you can also use her to light up dark rooms. Parakarry, a distracted mail deliveryman, used dive-bomb attacks and could fly me across short gaps. The list goes on and on.

The combat system is a mix of action and RPG elements. You select commands from a menu to attack, but if you time your button presses carefully, you can do a lot of extra damage. Press A just as you rebound from your jump to do a double-jump; Rapidly flick the control stick to build power for a dive bomb; each attack has its own button combination, so you won't get bored.

Outside of combat, you can level up your HP and FP (FP are like MP), collect badges that make you more powerful, find Super Blocks to grant your partners new moves, and, most importantly, solve the perfectly-done puzzles. Each puzzle makes perfect sense; if you look carefully, you'll always find a way to solve it with a combination of you and your partners' abilities.

Finally, there are some little extras that can really make a difference. The graphics are bright and colorful, and look great even today; they make even minor characters memorable. There are a few sidequests, such as delivering letters and collecting Star Fragments to earn new badges. And after every world you complete, you'll get to play a short interlude where you control Princess Peach. It's these bells and whistles that really make the game unique and fun.

Buy this game immediately. It may be on a last-gen system, but the masterful gameplay and pure fun are timeless.

An Instant Classic!

I am a lifelong fan of Mario, and I knew I had to have this game. It is much better than Super Mario 64, because of superior storyline, graphics, and gameplay, and is very similar to The Legend of Zelda games in how it is played. The 2D characters in a 3D world are cute, although a little cheesy. Anyway, Bowser, the evil koopa king has stolen the Star Rod from the Star Spirits in Star Haven and has lifted Princess Peach's Castle far into the sky and imprisoned the star spirits all around the land. Mario travels all around the land from the Crystal Palace to Koopa Village, Dry Dry Desert, Mount Rugged, Forever Forest, Gusty Gulch, Flower Fields, Jade Jungle, Lavalava Island, Toad Town, Snowball City, and of course The Sewer. Don't be scared away by the easy beginning, it gets more and more challenging as you go along, but doesn't get extremely hard at any point. Along the way you get the help of a number of colorful characters like Toad, Yoshi, Sushie, Goombario the young Goomba kid, Kolorado the great explorer, Kooper the friendly koopa, Bow the royal ghost, Bombette the young female bomb, Watt the helpful young lantern, Lakilester the Lakilu, Twink the star kid, and Kammy Koopa the evil turtle witch. Overall, this is a superb game and if you don't want to go out and buy it right away, rent it at [...] and fall in love with it first.

The best game ever for N64!

Mario's back again in a unique new adventure. The graphics make it look like a pop-up book in a 3-D world, a cool way to show off this game. The Mushroom Kingdom is an all new place to explore. The plot is very easy to follow. My favorite "new" feature has to be the party members. They are sooooo cute! Each member has their own way of helping Mario out in the game, and you use all of them many times. I like it because it's not a game that you could blow off in like 10 minutes. There are hours of fun and new challenges that await in the future. I highly recommend this game for people of all ages. Anyone can enjoy this awesome game!
