Loving it before I've even played online

The hardest thing I found was getting to grips with the controller, being used to playing UT tourny on the PC it was quite different, but after a few days things are starting to fall into place, I have even started to jump around a little too!!
The graphics are great playing even playing in thru my 10yr old 25in screen!! the levels also take some time getting used to, especially when you've been playing UT for months. The sound is great in Dolby Digital, thru my home theatre setup the walls shake, although I don't thing the neighbours are as enthusiastic :-)
The game itself well it was exactly as I expected I mean you can't exactly improve on gameplay it's just prettier.
It will never look as crisp as a UT2003 on a £1-2k state of the art pc but for the £150 xbox it is nothing short of breath taking and would look even better if I could afford and nice flat screen tv but hey you can't have everything.

Conclusion
don't miss it in my opinion, jeepers I'm saying this without even trying it online, will amazon allow be to have 6 stars whent he live bit comes out in the uk?

Unreal fun

This game is a great fps and fully demonstrates xbox live and the xbox's graphical capabilities. It is worth the 50 buckas and is fun but if you are a pc nut buy tournament cuz it is just as good if not better. Trust me this is worth it and is great. If you don't have xbox live though my reviews a 3. Awsome weapons and game modes also. GET IT!

Unreal Shooter

Ureal Championship has better graphics, animations and map designs than its daddy "Unreal Tournament". The map designs are fun to play because they include both indoor and outdoor arenas to frag. The maps have a cool sci-fi outworld look to and have very unique designs. The characters animate well and die violent, bloody deaths. You'll even see limbs come off with blood gushing out. (too bad the dead bodies dissappear). The game controls are responsive and easy to learn, it plays like many first-person shooters. There are several modes of play and they are all fun to play in single player mode and even more fun with friends split-screen or XBOX live. Playing single players with BOTS is just as fun, because the bots are VERY smart! They hide, ambush, rush you or even gang up on you, while your team BOTS provide good back-up support. Now everytime you make a frag you have adrenaline levels go up. When you have max adrenaline, you can excute cool power-ups which can change the outcome of the matches. The power-ups are: cloaking (invisible), berzerk, agility and regeneration. All of them are useful and fun to use. In addition to this, the MUTATORS have made a come back and are just as fun.
Now for the bad: The sound effects lack punch. I just wished better sounds were used for the guns. The music consists of heavy metal (which I hate). The weapons haven't improved much, you'll see the same ones from the first game. The graphics although look great are kind of on the dark side and I wish that they had included adjustable gamma settings. The game suffers from performace issues, as you'll notice the framerate is not very smooth.

Although it has a few shortcommings, they are forgivable and I recommend this game if you like first-person-shooters!

IF YOU LIKE MULTIPLAYER GAMES, OR YOU LIKE TO PLAY AGAINST YOUR FRIENDS AND SUCH, IT IS GREAT. IT IS A LOT OF FUN, AND THE WEAPONS, AND CHARACTORS ARE GREAT. THE GRAPHICS WOULD GET AN A- BUT THEY ARE STILL UP TO XBOX PAR.

THIS IS WORTH GETTING, ONLY FOR THE LIVE FEATURE. THE GAME PLAY IN STORY MODE IS TOO EASY TO BEAT. EVEN ON THE HARDEST DIFFICULTY IT ONLY TOOK 5 TO 7 HOURS TO BEAT, IF THAT! THE DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT IS 'SO-SO' BUT THE WHOLE LIVE GAME PLAY IS VERY GOOD, ( THANKS TO MICROSOFTS XBOX LIVE! WHICH I HILEY RECOMMEND GETTING )

OVERALL: THE OPTIONS OF GAME PLAY DURING 'LIVE' IS WIDE. TRY IT OUT, I CAN'T GARUNTEE ANYTHING, ( NOT EVEN MY SPELLING IS CORRECT )

I was finished with this game in two or three days. It's way too easy. To play this game is to get a very bad idea of what another person plays like. The graphics are sub-par although the controls are plenty good.
There are actually plenty of levels on which to compete, but the first few go by so quickly, that before you know it, you're at the end.
Wait until the price comes down to 19.99. Then buy it. The graphics are that bad. This is no Quake.

UC: the future of console gaming

I've played some late versions of the game (pre-release) which still had some bugs until last week so I'm reserving my ultimate comments for the final version (which is why only 4 stars).

If you want to know why the game is late you can see an article on this site -- g e a r t e s t . c o m -- and NO I'm not the person quoted.

But overall it brings the interactivity of online PC gaming to consoles. That means playing with your friends online in teams instead of having to play single player with really dumb computer controlled robot-teammates.

The detail in the game maps is phenomenal and the latency is low due to the high-speed connections -- that means you shouldnt get killed due to lag. All the elements of the game were quality-tested by Microsoft for performance issues (X has to load in Y.Z seconds, etc) but we'll only know for sure how well it works after the launch. All I have to say is that its been stress-tested.

I'm a big first-person shooter fan and loved Unreal Tournament on the PC (the original). I'm glad that FINALLY we have something to match the PC experience.

This game is fast and fun! Maybe only a 4.5/5 but worthy of a 5/5 on here. Excellent graphics, playability, and XBOX lIVE is awesome. Teamplay Capture the Flag has never been better with the headsets, its all about teamwork now! Love it. Enjoy!

This game is so awesome! No matter who you are or what kind of games you like, you will LOVE this game. For those who love FPS (first person shooters): This game is the most advanced FPS ever created to the present. It's blend of action and strategy is great. Unreal Championship surpasses the unsurpassable Halo. THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

The long awaited

Any player of Unreal Tournament (UT) has been hard pressed to get this game. I recently had a chance to pick up a copy and so far it has been just about everything we could expect from it's prequel with the exception of a few minor noticable differences from the PC equivalent. The graphics motion seems flawless, however the detail and crispness compared that of its precedessor is slightly less than expected. That may just be the TV monitor, however. I don't like that in Multiplayer modes like CTF and Domination that you can't give individual commands to other bots or players on your team. You have to give commands to all or none, there may be a way but I haven't seen that option. There was an excellent improvement in the characters to select from and the abilities enhancements are a real treat. The audio is great with the exception that I wish I could play my own music like in games like NFS. One other item to note, you are slightly limited by the controls compare to the keyboard and mouse combination from UT. You can't turn as fast as previously and that was a real help when competing in Godlike mode. These guys are fast and we all know those online gamers (getting beat by a 13-year-old who plays 24-7), you need that extra speed, strafing and turning ability that the mouse gives you. I suspect everyone will be limited in the same fashion, though you are allowed to adjust the sensitivity, the mouse and keyboard are still faster. Overall the game is as expected and I think it will be the next big hit online. I look forward to downloadable maps, characters, voices, mutators and so forth. Happy hunting!
