It's no Halo, but still a solid multiplayer pick.

Unreal Championchip was looking to be a wicked awesome game in the previews of gaming mags I read. Its not really amazing though. I still think its a decent shooter. Its not as good as Halo(what is?), but it has some great features that Halo doesent have. You can play with bots on multiplayer maps, modes and levels. Playing with real people is still more enjoyable, but if non of your friends or over or you are a complete loser or hermit, you'll still like. Single player is just alright. The story line is utter garbage. Some balony thrown together stuff about how you have to fight for your freedom and bla bla bla. Unreal games aren't about the story; they're about the action, and Championchip has it. Its one of the best Unreal games ever made. So why am I only giving it three stars(I'm actually giving it a 3.5 but its stil not a 4 you know)? Thats the single player score. As a multiplayer or Xbox Live online title, its great. As an offline, its not nearly as good. Try it if you want a frag fest. If you're skepticle, rent it first.

This game is really good. It's got good graphics, good gameplay, lots of maps, and weapons. The game is all about the multiplayer though so if you want a game with a good story go with Halo 2. So in other word this has everything but a story.
NOT an 11 year old... lol

i've been playing this type of game longer than the
previous reviewer has been alive, and i say, 'get this game'..However if your not planning on getting
Xbox live (microsofts ISP) ,avoid this game because
the offline version will be tedious and repetative.
On a bright note, in a preview i've read i heard rumors
of 64 player arenas, 32 vs 32 in death matches or CTF
.. again only good if played online.
Just get a rocket launcher and blast away; Unplayable online

I bought this game for 49.99 and took it back the next day because I found it to be painfully boring and virtually unplayable online. I then decided to give it another chance and bought it used for 17.99. Nothing has changed. I should have saved my 18 bucks.
First off I would like to say that the graphics in this game are excellent, but that is where the good ends. If you have this game on PC, then don't waste your money on this. It is virtually the exact same game, with more cumbersome controls. Nothing compares to a keyboard and mouse and this couldn't be more true for this game. The pace and speed of this game is not suited for anything other than a keyboard/mouse combo. It seems Atari rushed this game out without taking the controls into consideration.
Now for the XBOX Live portion, which is probally the reason most people bought this game. First of all, finding a game on the servers can be a bit of a chore. When you do actually select a game to play, you have to cross your fingers to hope that the game will actually let you in. More often than not, you will be booted from the server before you actually join the game! Expect to try at least 10 times before actually getting in a game.
When you FINALLY get in a game, besides the lag in 80% of the games, you will almost immediately see that the game is nothing more than pure "chaos" as reviewer "ultimatexhammer" so acurately put it. This game requires NO skill. Just get a rocket launcher and fire away at random targets. Sometimes you'll hit your enemy most of the times you won't. And don't even think about stopping to actually aim at an enemy; chances are you'll be dead before you even get to shoot. The weapons in this game are cool and all (minus the sniper rifle replacement), however you rarely have enough time to select them and use them correctly due to the cumbersome controls and the fact that this game is pure luck for the most part. You get the occasional gamer that performs extremely well online, but for the most part this game is nothing but running around and shooting at anything that moves hoping that someone does not shoot you in the back for the 100000th time. And if this wasn't bad enough, some custom levels actually have enhanced laser cannons that kill you in one shot no matter where it hits you. If you thought you died fast in normal games, imagine dying as soon as you spawn over and over and over again. No fun at all.
The other games on UC, like bombing run and capture the flag would be fun because in theory they require strategy. But again this game is too chaotic and random for any strategy to ever be a factor in these games either.
To bluntly put it, this game is boring.
If no skill, random dying and ultimate chaos is your cup of tea, then you will feel right at home with UC. Otherwise stay clear of this game. It wasn't worth 49.99 and it is not worth 17.99 either.
I still think Halo is more fun.

I got this game thinking it would be better than Halo. Unreal Championship is fun but it just doesn't have that same flavor of Halo. When I shoot someone with a minigun, I expect him/her to die quickly. Same with the rocket launcher. I just don't like it when someone survives 3 rockets shot at them. I really don't like the rocket launcher. It doesn't look like one and it doesn't look like you're shooting a rocket. It is very confusing if you want to play multiplayer. There is no multiplayer option in the menu, yet multiplayer is available; up to 4 on one Xbox. I haven't played xbox online yet but if I had a choice between Halo and Unreal Champinship, I'd play Halo.

I thought this game was going to be great, after the first round of action I was dissapointed. This game is fun, for a while, but then it becomes very repetitive and uninteresting, not many weapons, game modes very original but they become boring.

This game [stinks] .. Nothing at all like halo.. the graphics are the only the thing about this game that is good .. the multiplayer [stinks], too fast paced, and the single player game mode is stupid .. my advice rent it before you buy it ...

That's exactly what you need for this game - some deoderant - this game stinks!!!. Pac Man is more challenging. I've had more fun with an old game of black and white pong. My little sister (7 yrs. old) got inside within 2 hours and looked at me and said "Mongoose, I'd rather go back and play Donkeykong - at least it has a plot." Speaking of plot - What happened??? OK, let's kill the bad guy - new idea!!. Have fun - your friend, Mongoose.

The title of Unreal describes this game perfectly. A must for xbox live. Bombing run is sweet. Capture the flag takes some strategy. Deathmatch is insane especially on small boards. Massive killing. I wouldn't buy if you don't have live though. 1 player mode is good for training to go live with the people.
