Even without Xbox Live

I still love this game without Xbox Live. The ladder campaign is fun to do over and over with the huge selection of characters. It would take a while to finish the ladder as a Human, Juggernaught, Nightmare, ect. all on Godlike. Don't listen to people who say it's not fun alone, because it is.
Unbelievable, absolutely amazing

This is easily the best multiplayer game for the Xbox. It is also probably the best online FPS ever made, and I promise you I have played a LOT of FPS'. Balance is nearly perfect, the weapons are all completely unique, the races and affinities (increased damage/rate of fire/ammo) contribute to the depth of gameplay. Gametypes are all great, each one appealing to a different player, or a different side of the same player. The maps are excellent, well balanced, and allow each race to employ it's unique traits and strengths while still forcing players to overcome each races weaknesses.
The pacing, though, is where the game really shines. This is easily the fastest moving game I have ever played, furious and chaotic, but still managing to stay strategic, by naught but the will of God. If you lack reflexes, prepare to face a steep learning curve if you jump into an online game, as your learning curve is gonna sting a little. And yes, I do intend this to be a compliment to the game - people who aren't good at a game should know it immediately, and should be forced to get good to win. Equalizers are just a games way of telling you it's ok, don't worry, you don't have to be good to win.
Minor framerate issues do exist, but this is less a matter of the game itself and more a matter of its interaction with XBL. Server upload/download is slow, mostly because this was a launch title for XBL. Things weren't quite perfected at that point. Hopefully by the time they BC it to the 360 that will have been fixed, although knowing MS they probably won't put a whole lot of effort into it.
In the end, this is a must-have for anyone who finds online shooters even TOLERABLE, the image of perfection itself.
A lot of fun.

Great game based on Unreal Engine 2 (obviously) intended for multiplayer, but is also good for the lone offline gamer because it uses BOTS! Bungi should take notice. Now half the games out there seem to use a modified Unreal engine...Love the taunts.

This game is really good. It's got good graphics, good gameplay, lots of maps, and weapons. The game is all about the multiplayer though so if you want a game with a good story go with Halo 2. So in other word this has everything but a story.
Don't bother buying it....

Well being one of the first xbox live games it didn't to all that bad, but wow. Theres a lot of problems with this game, most of them simple things like its just outright cheap. It takes forever to load anythign when the actual levels are somewhat simple and well when they say unreal tournament, let me tell you it is far from lying. If you're the type whos into a really good game where you won't get sniped by some 8 yr on prozac whos dominating because the weapons are extremely unbalenced on this game then go ahead and buy it. What do I mean weapons are unbalenced? A sniper rifle doesn't even have to be zoomed in to kill someone, just aim in their general direction pull the trigger and bang they are dead. Use a rocket launcher and you better hope your not a bad shot and it can take up to 3 shots to kill someone. They do have some interesting powerups like adrenaline shots you take in this game that make your character perform special, but no matter what its not enough to save the games replay value. I'm big into games like halo for the splitscreen bouts, but when this came out I was hoping for something as fun as that and was brutally let down. Halo 2 is now out and almost for a month. If you really love your kid you'll buy him Halo 2 instead of this game. Sure its like 50 bucks for Halo 2, and 20 bucks for this, but Halo 2 is well worth the graphics, the gameplay that is never quite the same, and never gets old. Its the best 50 bucks i've spent in a long time. Oh and the limited edition one is only great if you want a metal case, otherwise the extra videos are a little bit interesting but a careful search can find them posted on the internet.

The game has good graphics, enough to see yourself and other players, distingush weapons and buildings, but they aren't exactly as good as Halo, but then again, nothing is as good as Halo.
The weapons are sick and you can blow people to hell with just about any of them. They have beamy rifles, shotgun type things, rocket launchers, a teleporter, and a gun that you charge up and then when you touch a player, they go flying into oblivion.
It's bloody and gory and you might happen upon your opponents disembodied head or limb with blood trailing everywhere.
The maps are good and I don't get tired of them, they're very creative, and good to play with your friends. They're all big and have two bases, which are usually identical and have some sort of defensive position on them.
Multiplayer is awesome, I love destroying my friends with big "boooooms" and then laughing at them, getting them angry, and then finding myself with my head disembodied half-way across the map. The AI are actually usefull and do stuff, unlike the marines in the first Halo, they will help you take the flag or protect the base with 3 commands you can make. You can also make funny taunts.
Single player is basically just like multiplayer, except you can customize who's on your team and your team members can get experience.
I haven't tried it with xbox live, although I will soon, but I've heard it's not so good for it.
I'd buy the game, especially now that you can buy it for something like 20 bucks.
Unreal Championship is a "blast"!

I've run through single player mode countless times, and on Xbox LIVE!, on varying difficulties, and I must say, UC is one of the best FPS deathmatch games for the Xbox or any other system. I don't recommend playing this or any other game in Split Screen mode, it can be quite frustrating, and it took me a while to figure out how to start the Split Screen mode...
I've played the deathmatch modes in other games like Mech Assult and Halo, which are both great games, but they are lacking in on major area...
Speed! UC plays fast and furious, sometimes even chaotic, which is awesome during online play!! Halo is IMHO very boring in Deathmatch mode, simply because it's so S L O W...
Mech Assult is great, if you're into the whole "Mech" thing, but again moves very slow.
Overall, I recommend this game to anyone who even remotely likes FPS games.
Lots of fun

If you ask me, this game can't be beat as far as XBox LIVE games go. Plus you can probably buy it now for next to nothing. If you don't already have it, but your thinking about getting it, then go for it. It'll be a worthy addition to your library, no doubt.
