Unreal is just that. UNREAL! ... in the single player mode there are around seven different games, from Deathmatch to Bomb Run, and each of those games has about 8 different landscapes to play it on. There is about 50 different worlds to play in and many are either outside or partly outside ... from deserts to ice caps, from nuclear winter to molter lava. Unreal has it all. And, of those 50 or so games, you can set up many, many options that make the gameplay virtually unlimited.

There are around 50 different characters that you get to choose from too, and none are secret characters or locked out. The character you choose will detormine how agile he is and what type of weapon and armor he has.

And, every single character, playfield and game is available on XBOX live. In live you can start a game with you and 5 bots and as other humans join in the bots will be replaced. That way, you don't have to wait to form a group to get started. AND, after every game, it resets to another playing field and off you go again, with the same group of players which allows you to have fun and make friends. You can't play with the same group of people all night without making some friends (and a few enemies) ... it is just all amazing.

Bomb Run is like a cross between Football and RollerBall, with guns. You can pass the ball, snipe opponents, steal the ball, run with the ball and try to stuff it into your opponents goal. By the way, the goals look like something out of Stargate. If you like FPS, sci-fi, or good gaming, you will LOVE this.

I still can't believe how great it is.

Quick Considerations

There are a select number of things that you absolutely must consider when puchasing this item or you may find yourself very dissapointed.

Do you own Unreal Tournament 2003? If you do then you should avoid this title unless you specifically want to play against/with your friends on Xbox Live or you don't have the PC option. The PC counterpart of this game has graphics that are much prettier and higher end PC's won't have the framerate problems that bog this system down. In fact, this game is trimmed down in all sorts of ways compared to the PC version. Statistics tracking is not as deep, audio is lower quality, you sacrifice the accuracy of a mouse and keyboard setup and many other little nuances.

However, if you do not have a PC and really want a version of Unreal for your console this is really the only option. While the game presented here is not really bad, it simply does not live up to the radical standards set by the PC release.

Not as good as the comp game

Unreal tournament is the benchmark of combat. The game is fantastic for people who want on-line games without the hassle of finding people or dealing with them. You get to include characters and fight them in any number of fights. Here are the problems with it though as oppossed to the computer version. It does not allow you to customize every computer character, its simply random chooses them. The weapons are lacking, even though they do have secondary fire, I felt like their wasnt enough of them. Its missing the classic Assault maps where one team must defend points against An assaulting team and fall back. The characters are intresting with robots who absorb huge amounts of damage and vampires that suck life out of players. IT is very fun to get 4 ppl together and play it, but somewhere down the line it feels lacking as to the other ones. The graphics are so-so, it seems like X-box isnt fully utilized, because I have seen better on the X. If you like Deathmatch and on-line play pick it up, or if you have friends that love this combat, but for a single player or anyone else, it may not be that great.

Disappointing . . .

I traded this back after one day of play. I got it along with Xbox Live, expecting to have a fun day. Truth is, Halo has spoiled me. Ultimate Championship is about grabbing a weapon of choice and running around with your trigger button down. Whoopee. And some of the maps are just so small. It makes for mindless gaming.

Sure, the game has it's moments, but I'd rather be playing Halo online anyday.

The Best

Being a huge fan a first person shooters, I would have to say that this game is the best game I have ever played in my entire life. And that's saying a lot because I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600. This game is unbelieveable. The makers did an excellent job in all areas. I really can't think of one single thing to complain about. Here's the skinny...

- Awsome graphics. Exactly what you would expect from xbox.
- The controls are surprisingly good. I was worried how the aiming would go without the keyboard and mouse. With a little practice it;s a piece of cake.
- The online play is incredible and very addictive. I played for about eight hours straight last night and I hardly ever play a game for over an hour. The voice communicator and the LAG FREE game play (depneding on which server your on) make this the best gaming experience I have ever had. And Microsoft has gone to great lengths to keep people from using any kind of cheats (like on the PC).
-The sound, gameplay, the character models, the maps....it's all there. This game is what xbox owners have been waiting for. I think even the single player mode rocks. Go get it. Right now. Go online and let me feed you a rocket sandwich.

Best one yet!

Unreal Championship is a very addictive first person shooter game. Once you start playing this game, you continue to play and play. Unreal Championship is a game where you use a wide variety of weapons to eliminate you opponents and get kills. My favorite weapon in the arsenal is the redeemer. The first time you witness this mini nuclear device in action, you'll agree it's the best weapon in the game. Fire and guide a nuclear missile to helpless opponents. It is highly recommended that you keep a good distance from the impact point. Unreal offers a wide variety of different game types. These include deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, double domination, and bombing run. Each one is a different twist on the game. I myself prefer a good old deathmatch. Shoot each other to death until some hits the kill limit. I must warn that this game is not good for education. The creators of Unreal Tournament even brought football into the game! This game is called bombing run. There is one ball and you can pass it around and you try to shoot the ball into the end zone. The only difference between bombing run and football is that it would definitely not be televised. If it would be televised, human rights activists would be eating the producer. This action packed shooting game is one of the best games I have ever played. I would recommend this game to everyone.

halo gets boring after a few months of playing. when you are done with that, it may be good to pick up this game.
nice controls, and a good amount of weapns. the lag on Xbox live is annoying though. no vehicles and a limited varity give this game an abouve average rating. Why? because everything else is fine! the graphics and the gameplay is smooth and refreshing.

Great replay value

Unreal championship is simply addictive.I have played this game everyday since I bought it a month ago. Single player mode is fun while playing online is splendid. You can choose from 4 different games to play; Team Deathmatch,Capture The Flag,Bombing Run, and Double Domination. The graphics and audio on this game are simply awesome. The game comes in 480ip for those with HDTVs, and the audio is in DD 5.1. Need weapons? This game has plenty of them; Over 13 weapons, my favorite is the rocket launcher. Whether you like playing solo or online this game is fun and I would consider it one of my favorite games for X-Box.

single player and lag

Okay you'll buy Unreal and most probably bought it just to play online on Live. Well if you didn't you probably figure you got..... The single player is horrible most of the times your friendly bots and the enemy bots will just stand around or let you rip them with a machine gun and they don't even turn around. If the AI wasn't bad enough, you'll get bored quick with the games many framerate problems. If you start to shoot the game slows down.
Now when you get it hooked up to Live. You'll either join one of Microsofts ded servers, which tend to work okay, or another one. I'd suggest joining a smaller game. No matter how many starts the ded servers have theres always lag problems and sometimes you'll warp across the maps the lag is so bad.
Plus the game has holes in it. In certain levels you can actually go into the back of the level and shoot people and they can't shoot back.
I'd give this a 3 out of 5 even though I said nothing good about it.
If you don't play the horrible single player and manage to find a good server on Live without any infataggers or wallwalkers(Cheaters) you will have some fun.

Fun with Xbox Live but tough if you've never played it

This was the first game I bought for Xbox Live. I had never played the game before. The online experience of playing is fun...really fun, especially in a team based deathmatch.

HOWEVER, for someone who's never played, get ready to be killed often...and I MEAN OFTEN. It was tough to get used to even though I'm a skilled Halo fan (much of the shooting technique is the same). The learning curve is huge and can get frustrating.

Overall a good game to play online but patience is an understatement...especially, if you've never played this game before!
