why are you rating it before it is out? this, in its entirety makes no sense to me, which is why i rate it a 1, so that people can see that these reviews dont make any sense and are just made by people that are biased little twerps. actually, i wanted to see if my review would affect the overall average, hee hee
there was so much hype, for nothing

Never compare this game to halo. This game bored the hell out of me. I bought it for xbox live. Played it for a couple of hours, and traded it in for mechassault. I tried really hard to like this game, but the more I played it the more I hated it. If you are interested at all in this game, go out rent it first.
One of the worse games ever.

This game is horrible. Basically you can play online with EVERYONE using rocket launchers. The single player is even worse. There is 0 strategy and no fun. I would recemmend saying far away from this one.
Get Ghost Recon for a good shooter. Thats assuming that you already have Halo. Ghost Recon and Halo are the two to own. Not this!!!!
Boring and over-hyped

A mix of souless gameplay, sluggish controls, and below-average maps makes this game a waste of money in my opinion. I am a great fan of Unreal Tournament, but this game is a backwards steps in the FPS arena. This is a game you will find gathering dust on your shelf for months while you play Halo online.

That's exactly what you need for this game - some deoderant - this game stinks!!!. Pac Man is more challenging. I've had more fun with an old game of black and white pong. My little sister (7 yrs. old) got inside within 2 hours and looked at me and said "Mongoose, I'd rather go back and play Donkeykong - at least it has a plot." Speaking of plot - What happened??? OK, let's kill the bad guy - new idea!!. Have fun - your friend, Mongoose.
If you don't got Live, its not worth your [$$]!

Many people will tell you that this game is 100 times better than the original UT, but after playing it for 2 seconds, I quickly came to the realization that this game was completely different. Lets start with weapons. There is no sniper rifle (only this stupid laser thing you can zoom in with but doesn't inflict as much damage), all the guns look cartoonish (as well as the rest of the game) instead of deadly and threatening, the rocket launcher explosions are smaller than ever, and where is the trusty Enforcer!! Also, the dude that yells "Multi Kill!" isn't as dominant as before. You can hardly hear him! More things seemed to be taken away from the game instead of added on. Anyway, levels next. No classics are on this game which stinks, and they are all too boxed in, not a lot of out in the open environments such as LavaGiant or Facing Worlds in UT orginal. The only thing that made me put 2 stars is the Xbox Live feature. Its always fun playing online, even with a game like this. The start and in-game menus are hard to scroll through and provide lots of annoyances (such as changing your profile every two seconds, whats up with the profile, guys at Epic!!) Anyway, take my advice for what its worth, and I suggest renting it before you buy, to see how you like it.
Not worth [anything]!!!

This game [stinks] .. Nothing at all like halo.. the graphics are the only the thing about this game that is good .. the multiplayer [stinks], too fast paced, and the single player game mode is stupid .. my advice rent it before you buy it ...
A perfect rent.

This game is NOT an improvement over the previous Unreal titles. Basically, more was taken out of the game than was added in. Many of the best weopons from previous versions have been omitted (e.g. where is the sniper rifle?), and the "feel" of the game is less ominous than previous versions, which really detracts from the overall experience. Logging on to XBOX live and playing with others seemed very cool at first, but Unreal Championship quickly lost its appeal with me. It just didn't have the "oomph!" you get with some of the other XBOX titles (e.g. Halo). I anticipated this game for a long time and bought it, along with XBOX live, on the morning of the release date. I was really disappointed.
Controls very sluggish

Played the game over the holidays and was not impressed. I am spoiled by the PC version of Unreal, with the quick, smooth movement offered by PC keyboard controls. However, while playing the Xbox version, I felt like I was riding in an old Evinrude boat. The movement was much slower and very difficult to control. I also agree with the other reviewer who complained about the "boxed in" level environment, as well as the sorry selection of weapons and the ineffectiveness of what is there to use. Also, the pop-up info was very annoying. Luckily, I purchased this from a store that allows returns as I intend to do. I can't believe we waited so long for this one.
Just get a rocket launcher and blast away; Unplayable online

I bought this game for 49.99 and took it back the next day because I found it to be painfully boring and virtually unplayable online. I then decided to give it another chance and bought it used for 17.99. Nothing has changed. I should have saved my 18 bucks.
First off I would like to say that the graphics in this game are excellent, but that is where the good ends. If you have this game on PC, then don't waste your money on this. It is virtually the exact same game, with more cumbersome controls. Nothing compares to a keyboard and mouse and this couldn't be more true for this game. The pace and speed of this game is not suited for anything other than a keyboard/mouse combo. It seems Atari rushed this game out without taking the controls into consideration.
Now for the XBOX Live portion, which is probally the reason most people bought this game. First of all, finding a game on the servers can be a bit of a chore. When you do actually select a game to play, you have to cross your fingers to hope that the game will actually let you in. More often than not, you will be booted from the server before you actually join the game! Expect to try at least 10 times before actually getting in a game.
When you FINALLY get in a game, besides the lag in 80% of the games, you will almost immediately see that the game is nothing more than pure "chaos" as reviewer "ultimatexhammer" so acurately put it. This game requires NO skill. Just get a rocket launcher and fire away at random targets. Sometimes you'll hit your enemy most of the times you won't. And don't even think about stopping to actually aim at an enemy; chances are you'll be dead before you even get to shoot. The weapons in this game are cool and all (minus the sniper rifle replacement), however you rarely have enough time to select them and use them correctly due to the cumbersome controls and the fact that this game is pure luck for the most part. You get the occasional gamer that performs extremely well online, but for the most part this game is nothing but running around and shooting at anything that moves hoping that someone does not shoot you in the back for the 100000th time. And if this wasn't bad enough, some custom levels actually have enhanced laser cannons that kill you in one shot no matter where it hits you. If you thought you died fast in normal games, imagine dying as soon as you spawn over and over and over again. No fun at all.
The other games on UC, like bombing run and capture the flag would be fun because in theory they require strategy. But again this game is too chaotic and random for any strategy to ever be a factor in these games either.
To bluntly put it, this game is boring.
If no skill, random dying and ultimate chaos is your cup of tea, then you will feel right at home with UC. Otherwise stay clear of this game. It wasn't worth 49.99 and it is not worth 17.99 either.
