I'm a big fan of the Tom Clancy series of games, and Splinter Cell is one of the most challenging. So much, in fact, that you will probably have to consult a guide or walkthrough at least once or twice to get you through. What makes this game so much fun, though, is the quality of the graphics and attention to detail. In many games high-end graphics are more cosmetic than functional, but in Splinter Cell they're absolutely essential. The lighting effects are superb, and being able to move in and out of the shadows without being seen is critical. The environment is also very interactive. You can pick up coke cans and throw them in the corner to attract a guard's attention. You can break windows and blow up gas canisters. You can shoot water coolers and watch the water drain out of the hole you've made. All of this helps immerse you within the game. Splinter Cell does have its problems, though. It's easy to become frustrated with the game, particularly if you're used to a much more fast-moving shooter like Halo. It's also a lot more linear than it may seem at first glance. You're always headed in a general direction and going along a certain path. Compare this with Hitman 2, for instance, where you're simply given a target on a map and can eliminate him in any you please. Overall, Splinter Cell is a classic of the stealth genre, and I look forward to playing the sequel when I can save enough money to buy it.

I have been a game junky from the begining starting with Mario Bros. I have played many games promoted by friends and so forth but up till now have yet found one game that actually challenged all of my senses. Tom Clancys Splinter Cell has done just that. I have seen the future of games and I am impressed. The graphics and attention to detail has left me gasping for more. And so saying I must thank Tom Clancy and the creators of the game itself Ubisoft for bringing the gameing world into the future.

Splinter Cell is one of the best games i have ever played. This game has almost anything you can think of it in. What other game do you know of that you can do a split jump on two walls and drop on a unsuspecting enemy? I also don't know of any game that uses shadows as well as Splinter Cell. The game is based on stealth. You have to sneak around without being caught. Your gun is the last resort. You have endless gadgets and weapons at your disposal, everything from sticky cameras, to lock picks(yeah, lock picks, you actually pick the locks yourself). Playing as Sam, you are given the 5th freedom, and are able to lie, cheat, steal, and kill to protect other freedoms. You also have access to night vision and thermal goggles, and they are very detailed. Although it is a very, very good game, i wouldnt call it the best game ever. It is my favorite for the Xbox console so far. The best games ever would have to be the old school games such as Zelda and Mario, that paved the way for modern games. Overall, Splinter Cell is one of the best games out today and i STRONGLY suggest you go out and buy it.

If you are thinking about whether or not to buy this game, whether it's just another first person shooter in which you have to kill all the enemies and may have some objective that is so easy to acomplish; think again. This game uses soft physics, if you run into a curtain it looks like you're running into something soft, and light and shadow technology, i.e. if you shoot a light all the light it provides goes out, unlike many other games of the shooter genre.
This game actually requires patience. Many of the gaurds you don't even have to kill, just sneak past them. Usuing the gun is a last resort. You really can't run inot a room with guns blazing because your weapon is not that powerful, it's made for stealth.
I do not recomend this game for people that just want to go in and shoot everything. This is a challenging game for people that like to think

This game has amazing graphics, controls, and it has a very deep story line. This game is believable from the story to the way you can slip in and out of darkness, and even if you don't typically like shooters, this is a must have game. Quite possibly oe of the greatest Xbox games so far.
