Fun, but frustrating

This game is loads of fun, but just gets so annoying! DO NOT run out of bullets, or you will spend hours trying to beat a level with your bare hands. (Hard to do on the last levels) But the game is fun and in-depth. I would reccomend renting it first.

This is definatly a good game worth the money the graphics are good so is the gameplay and controls are easy to learn, but some parts are really difficult I have had the game now for at least 4 months and I'm only on level 4 thers 9 levels in all most levels are long to. overall this is a very good game.

i can't stop playing this game

The graphics are off the hook. I've only been playing video games for 18 years but Splinter Cell is the absolute best game I've ever, ever played. The missions are extremely challenging, lengthy(one mission took 15+hrs), and incredibly detailed. The graphics...wow. The finest details are seen - from shadows to faces to labels on bottles. I got this game for xmas and haven't been able to put it down. Some missions are so frustratingly hard, I've tossed the controller across the room.

This ranks as one of THE BEST ever games for Xbox - right next to Halo.

Great game

overall very good game, addictive gameplay, although its rather difficult; great graphics, but the sound is what sets this game apart; easy controls to use; I'd give it 5 stars except for some parts were ridicously hard thus requiring you to wait through mini movies over and over again; wish there had been more then 3 slots to save games; definitely worth the money

A Great (But not Perfect) Game--here's why (and why not)!

Overview:
OK, I'm going to assume you are reading this because you are wondering whether or not to buy this game. If that's so, then know that I rate Splinter Cell a 9/10 on a 10-point scale, to me. If you were thinking of getting it, you will not regret the purchase. However, if you are a gaming nut who will devote an entire night to playing, you may finish this game rather quickly. There's not really a reason to play the game over and over, unless you want to experiment with different ways to get tasks done. However, there is no reward for doing so. For those wondering if it is a classic like a Halo or MGS2, you may suffer a little let-down.

Pros:
*Beautiful graphics. Light effects are awesome.
*Fun. Sneak around, shoot people, be a one-man anti-terrorist army. Nice! (Unless, of course, you already do this as your occupation)
*Addictive. You just have to finish this game. I don't finish many games, but I just had to keep playing this. Keeps drawing you back with the strong gameplay and cool missions.
(Note: The above 3 points are what counts to me in a game. The cons, therefore are simply what keeps this from being 10/10)

Cons:
*Detection: My biggest gripe. SC has a seemingly unrealistic sneaking style. You can literally be standing or moving a few feet from your enemy's face and he will never see you. But then this happens constantly: you see a soldier across the room, you shoot at his head with a scope gun and miss; Soldier turns around and nails you with his rifle from clear across the room as you crouch in complete darkness. This doesn't seem very realistic.
*Enemy AI: Ok, besides the enemy's Superman-like vision when alarmed, the enemy's brain type might be dubbed "Single Cell". You can have soldiers chasing after you, then run through double doors and stand so you prevent one of the doors from pushing open. The soldiers will gun at the door and drone on with yelling "I'll find you! You can't hide!" over and over, until about 2 minutes lapses, after which they will say "We've lost him!" Now, if I were a guard, I would certainly not do that, and I would be shot by my captain if I let a spy stop me by blocking ONE SIDE of a DOUBLE doors. And what are their bullets made out of? Or their seemingly wooden doors, that bullets cannot penetrate through them?
*Hits: Shooting can be a pain sometimes. It's ridiculous how every enemy needs 5 shots to the body to bring him down. You have to hit him in the head; the game is sometimes good, sometimes bad with your bullet hitting its target.
*Story: Kind of weak; you could care less about the plot; it feels more like 10 separate missions than one continuing story.

In closing, you may notice that the pros are the major things and the cons minor. That is how this game is. It is definitely a great game, but again, for those looking for a masterpiece like a MGS2 or Halo, you may be a little disappointed. But for those seeking fun, SC hits the mark.

The best console game since Halo... period.

If you're looking for a phenomenal single player game with strategy and awesome graphics... look no further! Easily the best game on any of the consoles since Halo. Better than Metal Gear Solid and anything on PS2. I can't wait for the updates on XBOX live or Splinter Cell 2!

Incredible!!!

Let me say this LOUD and PROUD. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for the Microsoft Xbox console is THE GREATEST VIDEO GAME EVER CREATED!!!Pros: -Excellant lighting effects and graphics
-The controls and A.I. really live up to it's graphics
-Who dosen't want to spy on the CIA's HQ at midnight
-Prooves that a rated T game can blow your socks off.
-Cool weapons and gadgets.

Cons: -When you walk down stairs you look like you're floating on
air.
-The A.I. is sometimes a little to fast in responding.

Other than that, it's SA-WEEEETT!!

your heart beats faster with every subtle step you make....the loose gravel and the light....the light of which is your worst enemy glimmers thru the window in the distance....the guard near the entrance notices a slight mis-shapen shadow on the wall near the bushes....his dog notices your scent....quickly you turn around...you notice a lonesome door leading into a small room filled only with a broomstick, a few cob-webs and an empty soda can, you shoot out the glaring light shining down on you from the ceiling....your fiber-optics allow you to gaze underneath the crack between the bottom of the door and the floor.....he's back to his post....you walk out of the room slowly, VERY slowly....you crouch down and slowly move behind him...all of the sudden you grab him...and with your trusty 5.6mm pistol resting softly on his left temple you force his face into the retinal scanner...the highly secured door opens, slowly you bring him inside along with you, you knock him out, he falls to the floor...and just when you break out that cig and relax over in the corner...the SECOND dog creeps up beside you.....(oops) he visciously starts to bark....guards come crashing in, sirens and alarms go off!!!...
This is just a sample of what you'll face while playing the best game ever made on ANY platform....suspense so realistic, you'll pee in your pants....graphics so life-like you'll forget you're playing a video game...the sound effects and the music alone keep you glued to that controller and your eyes on the screen....addicting!....look out Solid Snake...there's a new kid on the block and he IS a splinter cell.....and his name is Sam Fisher....NSA operative.....and Michael Ironside doing the voice-over??....WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?!....in my own personal opinion....this is THE best game i have ever played...to combine a great storyline, state-of-the-art top-notch cinematic graphics and sound and easy to master controls would've been virtually impossible for PS2 and GAMECUBE.....but XBOX makes it happen...oh, and did i mention the whole entire ARSENAL of weapons you get in the game?? oops...nevermind :)

splinter cell the first game to use real particle lighting if you dont know what that is lets just say its the biggest leap foreward in gameing since the 3D effect. it makes lights actually appear as light versus the light set as no clipping objects. this also enables raltime shadows that are in contrast to the direction the light hits you in verus the older thing where shadows turned with you or always styed on te same side of you and get this every thing casts a shadow even bottles! One thing about the particle lighting, a guess im just picky and should becutting them slack because this was the first game to use it, but in some places they still used the really cheap lighting where they just made the walls brighter. the gameplay is great and extremely difficult this game is not for people without Patience or thepeople that just wanna run out into the open and shooting every thing not caring if its alive or dead. sometimes it can get boring though because on some missions you do the same thing over and over again. but this definitly deserves game of the year. I escpessialy like that you can sneak up behing people and grab them and use them as a shield it can be tricky to master the technique of grabbing people but when you can its worth it. i strongly reccomend purchasing thistitle.
