Splinter Cell: the best Xbox title for this Christmas

This game is the most impressive visually, the gameplay looks awesome and everyone is presenting it as the MGS2 killer.
This game is pushing the limits of stealth action.
Pre-order it, it's the new Xbox killer ap

Don't be fooled, this game is not going to be anything like Rainbow Six, Eagle Watch, Rogue Spear, or any other Tom Clancy game. Finally, an edition to the master of actions' video game collection that will actually be fun to play!

Obviously, I haven't played the game yet, but I have seen numerous trailers and have read the book upon which the story is based. It was a fine read, unlike most of Clancy's work it has nothing to do with swat teams and beurocracy, it's hardcore, (non-evil) vigilanteism.

From what I gather the game will be somewhat like a mix between Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid, both fine games. Put together, even better. There will be no more impossible to plan team strategy maps like in Rainbow Six, just action and a great story. If you're a fan of MGS or SF, I would highly recommend this game.

Check out the trailer at XBOX.com and you'll see what I'm talking about, this is a great looking game with exclusively XBOX content, which equals superior graphics!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell looks like a game that will require some common sense but not be (HALO-on legendary frustrating-but I like HALO anyway) and HALO 2ýs spec. list reads just like Splinter Cellýs...Sweet!

Stealth action games are rear except for Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter. With cyber-terrorism, shadow agencies and covert operations on the menuý.WOW! Sam Fisher, in this game has some of coolest hi-tech weapons Iýve ever seen (some better than in a movie).

ýSam Fisher is geared up to infiltrate and neutralize the enemy - all without leaving a trace.ý

He can do diving summersaults, pipe climbing, ledge hanging, bounce off walls(split jump), do drop attacks, peek around corners and shoot ...drag and hide bodies.

YOU can even take people hostage an use them as a human shields!!!!

Pick up and use objects in the environment, shoot any light and take advantage of shadows, devise cunning solutions from your environment (aquariums, oil barrels, etc.)
Ubisoft even admited to using a customized Next Gen Unreal Engine with deep lighting and sound effects.
ýUbi Montreal's highly modified version of the Next Gen Unreal Engine has some new stuff added ...like Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders, Higher texture Rendering and Zshadow Mapping bring environments to life.ý

Immersion is all about recreating in the consol or PC what can an canýt be done for real and PS2 can't do what a game like ýSplinter Cellý does on the Xbox...So if you donýt like the Xbox...chuck your PC out the window an see if you can surf the Internet with your PS2 without having to speed [price].
[P.S.: for the Uninformed ,Xbox is a PC, just made for playing games; an Xbox live Rules too]

Splinter raises the bar for video games

I have heard this game compared to MGS2. Splinter might be the same category, but it is bound to be an entirely more thrilling game:
First, the stories and tactical challenges were developed by Tom Clancy. (He is the best author of action/adventure military-based novels)
Second, this game is not a sequel. It is unique in every aspect, particularly the stealth aspect, which leads me to the next point; graphics.
Being built on a new engine, vs. sequel games, the game will undoubtedly leverage every bit of the XBOX's computing power. Splinter uses the Unreal engine and I am pretty sure that most sequels are using old engines unless they are sequels built from scratch.

Splinter Cell - The best game for the Xbox this year.

Hands down. It's no contest. Seriously, there isn't another game like it on the Xbox, on the PS2, on the PC (until Splinter releases on that a couple months afterward).

What sets this game apart is its revolutionary use of shadows. You hide in them and try to avoid enemies (but you can take them out if you absolutely need to). The main character, Sam Fisher, can do all these neat moves, like rappel down walls and use night and heat vision goggles. Just check out the screenshots and the moves, and you'll see. There is no contest. THIS IS THE GAME TO HAVE!

The demo is horrible. Very horrible.

Cumbersome, awkward controls. Stiff, robotic and unnatural animation. Sub-par graphic design. It reminded me of a 3rd person version of the 1997 N64 game Goldeneye, more than anything else. I read a comment in 'The Official Xbox Magazine' in their review of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 2- Substance: "It's good, but it's no Splinter Cell." I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. They're acutally 100% correct, but not in the way they meant it. The demo made it painfully obvious that Splinter Cell isn't worthy to scrape the grime from under MGS's toenails. If you want to play a quality stealth/action game, skip this weak attempt and go for the King of the Genre, MGS.

The hype is justified!

I am always suspicious of an overly-hyped game, but Splinter Cell left nothing to be disappointed about. If this is a taste of what's down the road for video games, I'll have to quit my job! The graphics are super, game play and sound awesome, and the implementation of the stealth concept is powerfully convincing.

I have only three minor issues with the game. The first is that it takes a bit to get the controls down. Not a big deal, just a forewarning. What really bugged me was that pistol aiming was too slow. The number of bullets it took to put someone down was also on the unrealistically high side. You could be right over someone and shoot him in the back of the head, and it still would take a couple shots.

These minor flaws aside, the game if simply awesome!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been compared with the up and coming Metal Gear Solid 2:Substance for XBOX. There is no comparison. Splinter Cell is the best game created thus far for XBOX. The shadow and lighting effects are just amazing, not to mention the night vision and thermal vision modes. Even the A.I. is smart. For example, turn off a light switch and watch the gaurd look clumsily around in the dark for the light switch. By then you already grabbed him from behind and are holding a gun to his head. The thermal vision is especially cool because after you shoot a gaurd and kill him, just switch on the thermal vision and watch his body heat disappear. Even during the right time, you can do a Jet Li-style split jump and stay between two walls and wait until your opponent walks under you. Again, at the right time you can jump on top of him and knock him out. Anybody who has an XBOX should buy this game immeadiately.

Crazy-Cool

I have the demo of "Splinter Cell" and it's amazing--absolutely astounding. The lighting...the atmosphere...the animation...the weapons...the gadgets...everything is top notch.

I even spent like 40 minutes just playing with the curtains and throwing stuff. The split-jump (Jean Claude van Dam style) is especially sweet.

The gameplay seems to be a cross between Thief, Deus Ex, and Hitman.
