First of all, I would like to congradulate UBi Soft for their great game. Now I will explain why it is such a great game. First, I have never seen a game with graphics like it. The graphics are amazing. And the missions (though long) are intense and fun. It has a great storyline and extreemly fun gameplay. The only problems are there is no blood, no multiplayer, and only two guns. I would highly suggest that you purchase this game. You will love it.

Good honest review.

This game without exaggerating has got to be one of the bests of all time. The graphics are breath taking as well as the plot. If you like stealth action games this is a must have for Xbox.

Outstanding Gameplay

Simply put, outstanding graphics,a realistic story, realistic characters(unlike the Metal Gear boss characters, who seem to resemble cartoon supervillians instead of real humans) a plethora of gadgets and strategies at your disposal. A true paradise for the gamer who appreciates a deep story and the military/spy genre.

The bar by which all other games are measured!

Splinter Cell is not just another first-person shooter game. While I am a huge fan of Halo, Splinter Cell takes a more stealth-like approach to combat and covert ops. Controlling NSA agent Sam Fisher is a refreshing change to the full-frontal assault of most shooter games.

The programming of this game is unparalleled. The movements and fluidity of Splinter Cell have yet to be repeated. While other games (such as Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb and even Enter the Matrix) have jerky motion while climbing, the flowing movements in Splinter Cell are the best I have ever seen.

Splinter Cell also allows interaction with the environment, especially lights. The entire aspect of stealth requires the use of shadows and Sam can shoot out lights to provide cover of darkness. The movement of curtains as Sam brushes past are also a subtle, yet difficult-to-attain detail that Ubi Soft made sure to include, adding to the realism of the game.

The AI is excellent, however some failures are noted. Enemy units react rather stupidly, such as stating that a guard dog "lost the scent" of Sam, when in reality the pooch fell victim to a sniper bullet to the head. Additionally, when a fellow guard simply disappears, the other soldier fails to notice.

A fun, challenging aspect to Splinter Cell is the requirement for non-lethal force. Perhaps my favorite part of the game is the ability to sneak up behind an enemy, grabbing them around the neck, and holding a gun to their head, interrogating them before pistol whipping them unconscious. Also amusing is throwing a well-aimed glass bottle at the head of an enemy, knocking them out.

Splinter Cell is a game you can play over and over. To add a challenge the second time through, I tried to minimize killing my enemies, no easy task when you're given the Fifth Freedom.

Sound is great, the music well suited. Additionally, the casting of Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam adds an element of cool confidence to the character.

Simply put: This game is AWESOME! It might just spoil every other game you play until Ubi Soft comes out with another of the same caliber.

Very Addicting

This game has a lot going for it...not only do you get to sneak around and grab people from behind, hold a gun to their head, and make them tell you what you need to know, but you also get to handle missions in your own style. Most of the time, you are allowed to either be completely stealthy (which is usually preferable) or run through the building shooting everyone. Sometimes you are forced to behave a certain way, however. The gameplay is fantastic, and the controls are excellent. I had the hang of it by the end of the training mission, which was good practice for the real thing.

The only reason I have to laugh at this game is that the guards are sometimes totally blind / deaf. I've had a guard point his gun right at my face, while I was hiding in a shadow, and he was looking right at me, then he says "It must have been my imagination" and walks away. Stuff like that is totally unrealistic, including when you grab a guy from behind that is standing VERY CLOSE to another guard, then you clobber him on the head, his body CLUNKS to the ground, and the other guard, standing 3 feet away, has NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON... thats kinda stupid. other than that, this is a great game. can't wait to download new levels on xbox live...

A MUST HAVE

For ppl that love games like metal gear solid and covert ops stuff this is the game to have. There's only 9 missions but they are long and fun not tedious or too repetitive. Also if you get xbox live you can d/l more levels. There's a few nit picky stuff to complain about but overall graphics and gameplay is awesome.

Holy shoot! This is THE game! THE game!

So cool in an "I'm gonna creep out on a darkend balcony, flip on my nightvision goggles, jump up, grab onto a ledge, shimmy my way over to an open window, leap through it, and proceed to take out my unsuspecting victims one by one quietly, yet painfully" way.

Serious ultra-detailed environments, Lighting and shadows like you've never seen before. Awesome plot and superb gameplay. The difficulty level is perfect: just hard enough to make it exciting; you've gotta really work to get through some sections, but then there'll be a save checkpoint when you do.

It's so awesome your girlfriend will even enjoy watching you play it!! How many games can you say that about!

check it if ya haven't already!

One of the best video games I've ever played

I have been a video game nut since the beginnings of Nintendo. I remember the frustration and enjoyment I got out of all the Zelda games, Castlevania, Metal Gear, etc. But no game has given me the amount of enjoyment, laughter, and frustration than Splinter Cell. This game is fun and challenging. IF you are a serious gamer and don't enjoy losing constantly then you may struggle with this game because some of the missions take multiple attempts to beat. But that's where the enjoyment comes in, you really have to think in this game, and it gives you plenty of opportunity to be creative in solving missions.

Splinter Cell gets an A for putting the Training Session in as the first thing you go through, once you have gotten through training you truly have a good grasp on the controls of the game. You really can beat the games missions by being agressive or being sneaky, being sneaky is the most challenging and is probably the easiest way of getting through the missions undetected, but it will probably take longer because you need to strategize. After awhile you will get the hang of the controls and also know what the enemies react to and how to approach them or avoid them all while being practically invisible. Finally we have a game that rewards a player for not shooting a billion bullets, and yet is extremely fun at the same time... If you are not sure I would rent this game before buying it, but if you find yourself not wanting to stop playing then you know you have a winner on your hands.

Simply the Best

The game is a breath of fresh air. The controls are adequate the story line is captivating and enjoyable throughout. If I had a complaint it would be more power-ups life. Power-ups notwithstanding it is simply the best game that I have ever played. I can't wait for the sequel.
