I just bought this game on my XBox because I played it at my cousin's house and had a great time. I'll admit, it is a little slow, but what do you expect? It's a stealth game for cryin' out loud! If you're looking for a superb gaming experience, pick up Splinter Cell. It's only twenty bucks, so there's not much to complain about.
Good, but it's no Metal Gear

I guess I was expecting more action, and this game has little. It is very stealthy in its gameplay, but there is almost no action whatsoever. Go for Metal Gear.
Its Allright, I guess

Ok, I fell for all the hype on this game and plunked down the Half C-note for it. There are VERY few above average graphics, and the game as a whole is blah. I played for a few hours hoping to get to the heart of the game, but I never got into it. Xbox has some great games, but I don't think this one will become a legend.
Splinter Cell is just boring!

Its nothing compared to other stealth hits like Metal Gear Solid or Hitman.
The character you play is just so gya,his name is Sam Fisher who sneaks around with a green tripod of lights on his head, along with his silenced pistol and multipurpose rifle-Honestly this guy is no Agent 47(the assasin u play in Hitman) or Solid Snake(the famous protagonist from Metal Gear).
You are not allowed to kill anyone at all, except for the last 2 guards at the end of SOME missions-otherwise you will get Col.Lambert yelling "Good god Fisher!,What are you doing, the mission is over i`m pulling you out" did UbiSoft think that, that phrase would compete against the well known "Snake, are you OK?,Snake Snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!" from the Metal Gear games,no i didn`t think so.
Once you complete the game there is no replay value-no Easter Eggs, cameos etc,etc
I don`t care if the Splinter Cell games are realistic and simulate real-life espionage agents-honestly no one cares! games are all about entertainment which SHOULD have good fun gameplay,a strong storyline and good mission design! Splinter Cell has NONE of that.
So what,if in the MGS Games you combat gigantic robots designed by the Military,or fat men on roller skates drinking wine!
So anyone,if you are looking for an enjoyable espionage expierience which may be bizzare but fun at the same time,By all means buy a MGS game.
If you are interested in playing a hitman and want a game thats about pro assasination get any Hitman game(preferably Contracts or the forthcoming Blood Money).
bye.

Bland visuals make for a difficult and boring game.

I love Tomy Clancy books as well as games. I was disappointed with Splinter Cell. There are defintely some cool features in this game like the use of shadows but it's been done before in other games. The game is very difficult but that's not what turned me off. I just got tired of it quickly, the graphics were not what I expected. The Xbox is supposed to great graphics but it's obviously not the case here. I'll be interested in seeing what happens with the PC version as well as the GC and PS2 versions that come out next year. I'd suggest waiting because it's possible they'll make revisions to the game based on the flaws in this version. This game does not live up to my standard and I don't think it will to any hard core fan. This game is a rental for sure but not worth a buy.
Not a game for those short on patience

Amazing graphics and fantastic sound, but the gameplay is just too slow. I played this game for almost two days straight then never again. It's comparable to a million piece jigsaw puzzle... only with the voice of Michael Ironside to constantly plague you.
It looks cool but it [was boring]

This game has some awesome graphics and a great ability, but it is just so boreing walking around and finding data. The guns aren't even full of ammo at all. Take my word do not get this game if your not into shooting or action. If you like spying then the game is for you
Splinter Cell... truly redefining the stealth genre

This game is amazing. It is by far more steathly than Metal Gear Solid, and has much more gameplay depth and options than MGS. I would recommend this game to anyone, except those who have it in their mind that MGS is the best game/series ever made and who have no intent on letting any other game, no matter how good it is, take its place. But in my opinion, Splinter Cell does just this, blows MGS out of the water.

This game is the reason that the xbox platform was created. The demos and screenshots i have seen blow me away. You cannot get more realistic. I will own this the day it is released, as you all should !

I have the demo of "Splinter Cell" and it's amazing--absolutely astounding. The lighting...the atmosphere...the animation...the weapons...the gadgets...everything is top notch.
I even spent like 40 minutes just playing with the curtains and throwing stuff. The split-jump (Jean Claude van Dam style) is especially sweet.
The gameplay seems to be a cross between Thief, Deus Ex, and Hitman.
