A Game that is actually on bar with HALO?

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Damn straight. Let's take a little exam.

1. If you like being a silent, stealthy assasin, check here.
2. If you like George Cloony, Check here.
3. If you wear a sneak suit and pretend you are Solid Snake, check here.
4. If you like video games, check here.
5. If you don't like video games, than why the hell are you here?!?! But check here anyway 'cause this game is gonna change your mind.

OK. Let's just get it over with quickly. Splinter Cell delivers just as much action and adventure as Metal Gear Solid and then some. Plus it has a killer story and a hero whom Solid Snake would ejoy sipping a beer and telling stories with. You get awsome weapons, cool Z gadgets (yes, that was a James Bond spinoff) and the best visuals ever created on any video game. Just rent this game and spare your time instead of listening to me praise this game for a few more minutes. It is truly a masterpiece.

When I first played this game I was shocked. Just of how good a stealth game could actually be. Its realistic in its ways that you can hide in the shadows and use the enviroment to take out your enemies. Its really fun also, suspense is one of the main things that happens in this game. You only use two guns during the whole game, the pistol and the rifle that has attachments. Good stuff. All you need is that, and you can take out a whole building full of enemies. You have to crouch, and move slowly so the enemy doesnt see you. A very realistic game and im happy that this series of games got released. I highly recommend this game. Great storyline, and the last level is hecka hard!

Sam Fisher Excels Over Solid Snake

This is actually a truly exceptional game. Well-designed environments and actually intelligent patrols make this game a treasure for the XBox. The environments are spectacular and actually convey the intensity of the environments. LIke several of other Tom Clancy's games, STEALTH is the operative word. True, you do have some freedom in blasting away any moving thing. but the freedom is not to be utilised in every and any situation. The details of Sam Fisher is absolutely fantastic, down to the circuit for his wetsuit. I have yet to describe the environments. In the first mission, Sam encounters a burning apartment complex, and exploring it is quite fantastic with the glows and embers of the fire flying every which way. The patrols are much more realistic than in Metal Gear Solid, and they actually wear different suits and have different statures and facial features.

Now about Sam Fisher. He does a split jump to keep above enemies, able to hang, zip, and dangle and has some of the coolest gear out there. The fiber optic camera for use beneath doors is awesome. He has the abillity to interrogate captured persons and utilise them as body shields when necessary. Also, the voiceover for Sam Fisher is great.

My one and only criticism regarding the game is that Sam should have a first-person view for much better head-shots, particularly in intense situations.

Other than that, the game is exceptional for the XBox, and it is must-buy.

The most incredible game for the XBOX since HALO....!

I CAN DEFINTLEY SEE WHY THE XBOX TEAM CLAIMED TOM CLANCY'S SPLINTER CELL GAME OF THE YEAR!(GOTY). First of all:
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for the XBOX offers some of the best lightning effects within long months. The lightning effects are the most realistic I've seen in a game. And the graphics and texture quality and animations are absoluteley beyond incredible...so real. Also, the ambient sound effects and the crystal clear music sound tracks are great, but the ambient sound effects are SOOOOOOOOOO cool and realistic. The game play is very good overall, and the storyline is excellent. The cinematic quality in splinter cell is truely amazeing. And so is the in-game graphics quality. The controls scheme is overall good and comfortable and easy to use. And there are a lot of cool features in splinter cell for the XBOX including two very sweet and interesting night vission goggle modes. You are able to interact with your environments actionly unlike any other game. Splinter cell is not only the most fun and crystal clear fast paced totally super realistic game of all time for the xbox so far, from my opinion; but is the game that mostly takes advantage of XBOX's hardware and is the GOTY. The framerates? The framerates are smooth, not as smooth as Jedi Outcast's for the XBOX, but still smooth. Unfornatley, splinter cell is one player only. But, it does support dolby digital sound support! Overall Splinter Cell is an excellent addition to anyone's libary of XBOX games. And I truly recommend this awesome tight game for any XBOX gamer! ^_^

Solid Snake has wet himself...

... for he has met his match. This game is extraordinary. The detail, realism, and fun-factor is high. An example of the detail in this game is this: you need to get past a security door which needs a code to be opened, well you can grab a guard and interrogate him until he gives you the code, wait for him to open it and sneak up, or just eliminate him and use your infra-red to see the heat in the keys to determine which ones where pressed and in what order to enter the code yourself. If you are a fan of the Metal Gear series you will love Splinter Cell. This is much like Metal Gear, except that it is realistic with more of an emphasis on stealth, just like in real life. There are so many ways you can beat a mission, you decide if you want to kill the enemy, or simply sneak and leave unnoticed. The detail put in this game is incredible, you can do many things that Solid Snake would only dream of doing. If you like Metal Gear you owe it to yourself to try out this game Sam Fisher makes Solid Snake wet his pants, that is how good he is at what he does. Metal Gear Solid has met its match, Splinter Cell is here. If you own an X-Box, this is a game that is a must for your collection, it will change the way you think about games. You can play the demo of this game on the X-Box Exhibition DVD, which is a DVD packed of demos, then decide for yourself if it lives up to the hype, and IT DOES.

Not Boring

Amazon.com customer has not played the game. Sam Fisher has a wide range of weapons to choose from. They are added as the game progresses. You start with a pistol- head shots will kill, other shots may not. You can take care of enemies without killing them also- sneak up behind them carefully and you can grab them. You later get to use an assault weapon (you have to find it first), non-leathal stunners, smoke and gas and frag grenades, a laser microphone, lock picks, cameras, and a cable that lets you peek under doors before you open them to make sure the coast is clear. Both night vision and heat vision goggles can help you see things that you may miss otherwise. For gameplay, you get to disable wall mines (and use later if you want to), rappel off the side of buildings, break through windows, rescue hostages, sneak into the CIA building, a Chineese embassy, climb an oilrig- all while trying to avoid detection by ememy forces. It is not just a shoot- the - bad- guys game. As you become better, try do do it without shootimg anyone. For some missions, killing is prohibited altogether. THe challenge is also finding your way in when doors are locked or guarded. And beware of cameras or dogs which are looking for you too. This is a game that requires you to think before you shoot and will definately challenge you. They do a really fantastic job on the visuals- textures and lighting play a key role in the game. As does sound. It is a complete game on many levels. I can't wait for more adventures!

Realistic and thrilling

Splinter Cell is a blast to play. I don't know where to begin. First the game play is top notch. The camera is responsive, easily controlled and very rarily gets in the way. I don't think I've played a third person action game with this nice a camera. The controls are logical and you'll learn them in five minutes.

The story is convulted and confusing at times. There are times when I'm not sure what has happened with the Georgian president and captured US soldiers computer hacking but at the same time I don't really care. To me the story is just some background noise that adds atmosphere.

The graphics are the best I've seen. The lighting effects are moody and make the game what it is. The designs of the scenery are gorgeous. Buildings look like they were designed by architects and really help to submerge in the Splinter Cell world. The outside scenes are set up so that they feel larger than the are. The designer's have very cleverly set up the scenery to lead you where you need to go while leaving a lot of freedom of movement.

The game play is wide open. The emphasis is on avoiding trouble. It sounds boring but it's very challenging. I like the change of pace from games like Devil May Cry. I think there's room for both game types. I bought the Prima guide but haven't used it. I check the guide after I complete a mission and hardly ever go through a level the way the book suggests.

There a enough gadgets to make James Bond envious. The effects are awe inspiring. You can go through a lot of the game without using the wall mines or diversion cameras but it's so much better to set up an ambush. When you decide to use your gun the violence is mild, but realistic. The pistol is difficult to get a one shot kill but that makes it all the more satisfying. The sniper rifle is similarly difficult (you have to hold the left trigger to steady your breath, a great touch) but is well worth the effort to use.

I've never played the Metal Gear games so I don't have that for comparison but this game stands by itself as a fun exciting time.

WELL DONE

I should start this review by saying, I never really liked the Metal Gear Solid series, dont know why, always buy them... NEVER PLAY THEM.

So I was hesitant to get this, WHAT A MISTAKE.. this games is A MEGATON of fun.

The graphics are amazing on the XBOX, the controls are a little hard to wrestle with at first, but patience and persitance pays off, as you embark on an amazing story and game.

Is it perfect? No, its very hard to play without killing everyone you see, but if you have the patience, there is NO BETTER stealth game out there.

PARENTS BEWARE! STRONG LANGUAGE!

If you want to protect your children or yourself from bad language and the use of the Lord's name in vain, this game is not for you or your child. Throughout the game it uses the following words: "hell", "Jesus", "Christ", "Bastard" and "G-D". The words are audible and written in the subtitles.

Best Video Game I have ever played

This is the best game I have ever played. The animation could be more of life action. The sound is great. The weapons are good. Even the chit chat int he background is crystal clear.

If you like Strategy and First Person Shooters then GET THIS GAME.
