This game was "Game of the Year" for a reason. The story was very engrossing and the Jedi powers were cool. I played through it about 4 times and traded it in at my local game store. Now, a year later, I'm still jonesing to shock everyone in the room with lightning and make people give me all their money. I may have to re-purchase this game to get my fix!
planet hopping fun!!!

this game is ausome!!i have a hard time finding somthing wrong with this game and theres a reason, there is nothing wrong at all.
star wars kotor is a RPG styled game and you can cutomize your character buy finding items and getting credits(international currency)to buy more items and they include just about every weapon from star wars and some new one.
neing thats its an RPG it will take a long time to completely beat this game cause theirs so much to see and find.the story line is excellent and the way you play the game will determine what will happen to you.and you choose you answers when people talk to you making it really fun.
over all it appeals to all gaming types and its worth every cent.and so will star wars knight of the old republic 2 coming out somtime this year.
One of the best!!

This game is one of the best games ever made, I've been playing video games for many years and i am pretty picky about the ones i buy and praise. But i bought this game as soon as it came out. Even if you are not a star wars fan you will love this game. not only for the story line but for the features as well. It treads the line of 3rd perspn shooter to Rpg extremely well.
good storyline

I got this game hoping for Jedi Lightsaber slashing action. Well I did get that. What I didn't expect was an RPG. I was gratified to realize that it was until I realized that the dynamics of this particular RPG made it a worse game than many that I had played.
Pros:
The storyline was good
The characters were great
The fight animation was really good
The cut scene animations were above average (I felt that Bounty Hunter was better)
Separate dark and light side endings
Cons:
the gameplay was fairly basic and too straightforward
Very little chance to level up characters once the main quest for each world completed
Side quests are sometimes impossible to complete once a main quest is done.
In all I enjoyed the game, but if I want a real roleplaying experience, I'll go back to the FF series.
Totally Immersible

This game has set the bar higher for Star Wars and video game fans.
The designers went to another level when they developed the first solid story line since "Tie Fighter", which was released approximately eight years ago for the PC.
The game play and camera angles are intelligent and crisp on the XBox.
I can't wait until a follow up is made for probably the best Star Wars game ever made in its class.
Excellent Star Wars RPG

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was one of the best games released for the Xbox in 2003. Star Wars games have a checkered past--the story and themes lend themselves well to video games but most have fallen short of the mark. With KOTOR all of that has been changed and it's been placed in a role-playing environment by Bioware, and the results are amazing. The game features hours and hours of play, interaction with a host of every characters, some amazing worlds to explore, and it's just plain fun!
Since your main goal during the course of the game is to be a Jedi you have a lot of choices to make in regards to your actions. Like all RPGs, you go about upgrading your weapons, skills, strengths, and reputation. Be nice and go to the side of Light or be bad and turn to the Dark side of the force. So you must be careful of everything you do or say. You have a force meter to tell you where you stand, apply colored light to dark. One nice feature is that you can define your character by race and sex, so it opens the game up to everybody.
There are plenty of worlds to explore--in what ever sequence you want--and battles to fight. Mini games and side quests are scattered all about the various worlds so there is a lot to see and do.
The music, sound effects and voice acting are all very well done. The graphics on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired. There are some nice moments, but overall the game's graphics sport an unpolished look. The frame rate is a dodgy and there is a lot jag in the graphics. If they had just used the well-known graphics technique of anti-alising, the game would have looked a lot better. At any rate, the game play is so good that you can easily overlook the graphic faults.
I've read the Xbox version is buggy. I haven't had much a problem with that. I did have some areas that would lock up during loading from one part of the game to another, but that was very rare. The "kill save" bug I've read about I've never experienced either, but I saved and saved often. So don't let bug reports prevent you from buying this excellent game. At under $30 you get a lot of bang for the buck with this one.
Best game I have played in a while.

I have to say this is one of the coolest games I have palyed in a while. I decided to play the dark side up, but will probably go back and play as a good guy. The game is good enough to pay twice through and come out with a totaqlly different take. I am looking forward to the sequil coming out spring 2005. Also if you like this game there is a role playing game of lord of the rings coming out for Xbox.
gee, Star Wars

God, how many Star Wars video games are on the market today? There's gotta be more than a hundred, and most of them feature nearly the same light saber-slashing combat that the previous games did, only with slightly better graphics than the last time. It's time to end this silly sequel fascination and bring Star Wars to a close in the world of video games.
Boooo-rinng!

Did I miss something? I'm at a complete loss as to how this game has been receiving such rave reviews. I agree with the other reviewer: the "game" consists of walking ten feet, meeting an NPC, then interviewing them with what seems like an endless (and mostly pointless) conversation. Then you walk another ten feet, meet another character, and start all over again. Occasionally, you run into someone you have to attack, but the combat is so boring that it makes watching a bunch of senior citizens playing golf look like extreme sports. Simply hit "yes" when asked if you want to attack, and then just sit and watch, and hope your complete lack of participation somehow affects the outcome. So join the excitement of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Talk! Then, talk some more! Then, fight by pressing "X" (once). Then, talk yet again! Don't just do something, stand there!
not at all what you think

If you like Morrowind or Final Phantasy then you'll certainly appreciate this game, but I must tell you that if you expect to weild a lightsaber than you can just forget it. If you expect to fight at all forget it. When it comes time to fight the game pauses and you pick a couple icons press the action button and the computer does the rest. So if you have several enemies you should take this time to make a sandwich and scroll through the latest issue of Maxim.
Even worse there is lots and lots of chitty-chat. I mean it never ends and you end up talking to the same people twice and three times. You'd be better off to go to your local mall and walk around talking to people endlessly at least you'd get some exercise that way. One word for KOTOR.....boring.
