By now, you've probably read endless descriptions of the game, so let me just skip to the detailed bits of my opinion. Star Wars: Battlefront a Star Wars version of EA's Battlefield 1942 and its inspired games. In that respect, this game is very sub-par.

The first thing I noticed about this game is that it barely went beyond the scope of the movies in terms of weapons or vehicles. Being loyal to a movie is all fine and good in theory, but it is a disaster in practice. Think of all of the great video games out there. How many of them have as few weapons as there are in a movie? NONE! That's because movies are about plots and flow of storyline with some shooting possible involved during a period of 1 to 2 hours. Video games(of this type) are supposed to provide endless hours of pleasure in flying, driving, and shooting! Sadly, not even all of the weapons and vehicles from the movies made it into the game! It's not like the makers of SW:BF even had to use their imaginations, there have been dozens of star wars video games that have introduced countess weapons and vehicles into the Star Wars universe like Jedi Outcast, KOTOR, and X-wing vs. TIE-fighter. If we had had these vehicles and a few other ones for practicality, things would have been much better. Instead, you'll spend the vast majority of the game shooting lazers and the occasional "special weapon". It's sad.... just plain sad... There are
- no capitol ships
- no artillery
- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -no space battles- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps it should be called ground wars instead of star wars.
- very few fighters/bombers.
- no effective heavy armor (vehicles)
- no decent anti-infrantry vehicles
- no teamwork classes such as scout/artillery group or spy/engineer
- no good suppresion weapons
- no decent troop transports
- no arial transports
- only mediocre close quarters weapons
- crappy sniper weapons
- NONE of the "new" and cool weapons that we've come to know and love from
all of the other star wars video games since the DOS days!!!
- no melee weapons of any kind. Miss a weapon from KOTOR or KOTOR 2?
Don't worry, you won't find it here!

In addition, the game just feels unpolished. SW:BF copied the whole
base capturing and score depleting mechanism used in Battlefield 1942 and sequels, but I guess they got too lazy or something because they didn't bother to copy the unique voice warning messages. It doesn't matter which side you're playing on, the voice message for "you're about the loose" is the same. This just isn't true for the Battlefield series of game? Am I being picky here? Well,.. on this one single point? maybe. To have point after point like this throughout the entire game? Well, it just feels like they barely scraped together something for fear that they wouldn't get to market a Star Wars vehicle/infrantry combat game out in time.

If SW:BF had come out several years before BF1942, I would be applauding it for creativity and how cool it is. Instead SW:BF came out several years AFTER BF1942 is one of it's clones that couldn't come close to keeping up. That's sad...

If you're a big star wars fan and you really MUST pilot an AT-AS or are
simply dying to fly a Endor speeder bike against an AT-AS. Go right ahead and
get this game. Just don't expect too much. If you're looking to
flying an X-wing or TIE-fighter in some series air-to-air or do some series
strafing, you might want to hold back.

Great!

This game lets you experience Star Wars in a whole new way. In this game you can take the role of several different soldier classes. You get to fight in all the major Star Wars battles, take control of any veichle ect. If you have X-box Live than this game is a must have, you get to fight huge battles with your friends. If you don't have X-box Live than I would rent it first. The only complaint I have is the aircraft. Their controls aren't the best, but other than that this game is great.

The Same Old Maps

First off, there are better Star Wars games out there, so if you are looking for the best Star Wars game go for KOTOR. If you want action from the movies this is a good game, but since the movies are not war epics this game is limited. There are not many maps and they get old since the campagins use the battlefields over and over. I played this after Star Wars: Republic Commando and the AI sucks compared to that. I missed being able to tell the other troops what to do, which led to me having to do all the work. Battlefront is a fun game, but if you are like me and xbox is not your life then you might want to spend the money somewhere else.

BIG Disappointment

Like another reviewer said...I believed the hype, so I have no one but myself to blame. When the advertisements said that you could "be ANY character in ANY battle using ANY weapon and ANY ship..." I was dumb enough to believe it. It's true if ANY character is any NAMELESS character from battles, most of which were not inthe movie.
Um, hello? Lucasarts?! No one wants to play Rebel Sniper #1...they want to play Luke Skywalker, Han Solo or Darth Vader. They don't want the same battle time and time again (capture the Command Posts again?!) - they want to be in the Death Star dogfight in an X-Wing, or flying the Millenium Falcon through the asteroid field. That's what the hype indicated we could do. Come out with THAT game for Xbox, and I'm all over it.
I'm returning this one.

Great game

This game is the best-selling Star Wars game out there, and now I can see why. Being able to relive all of my favorite epic battles from the movies was an exciting and fun experience. All the classic vehicles were incorporated into the game like the AT-ATs, AT-STs,X wing, Y wing and many more! If you like large-scale multiplayer games then it is worth the money, but you may not want it if you're more of a single player person because just about all of the games' content was directed towards multiplayer gameplay. Overall this game is definetly a Star Wars fan MUST own, if you don't buy Battlefront you might be retarder...seriously I'm not joking you might be.

Strategy for SW Battlefront Galactic Conquest ( as CIS )

The Galactic Conquest campaigns are doable in Hard mode.
Here is my strategy ( in progress ) for completing the Revenge of the Sith scenario in Hard difficulty mode:

Take the Dune Sea of Tatooine. This will prevent the Republic from using Mace Windu in subsequent battles.
Take Bespin and Yavin.
For the Bespin Platforms, focus on first taking the unaligned command post and then press forward to take the command center with ground troops. If these areas are held, the troops in the remaining command posts should be overcome eventually. Ignore the fighters ( you can always go back to this level later and try them out ).
In the case of the Yavin Arena, focus on holding and defending two of the three command posts in the center.
After winning four battles you will be able to blockade a planet. Blockade Naboo or Kashyyyk.
When you suffer a loss the Republic will tend to attack Rhen Var Harbor. This is an easy level to defend as the CIS if you use the Sabotage bonus from Bespin to weaken the Republic vehicles. Use a droid tank in the beginning of this level to take out Republic ARC troopers and the fighter tanks, clearing the ice-sheet area of enemy markers. Then focus on the Republic troops attempting to get to the inner harbor via the ice caves. The super battle droid should be used for this level to make use of its missile launcher weapon ( in fact, this droid should be used for most battles in the scenario ).
Thus, if you use Rhen Var to get a win every time you've taken a loss, you will soon be able to blockade another planet. Blockading Kashyyyk enables you to deprive the Republic of the Reinforcements planetary bonus in subsequent missions.
Use the droidekas effectively in taking Mos Eisley. Then you will be able to obtain Count Dooku's assistance in the final battle to take the cloning facility.

Alot of hype wait for sale.

Well I did not buy the game right of the bat, and I wish I did not buy it at all, at first I liked the game I did the historical levels first these were cool, then I did galatic conquest and it all went downhill. The game looked great and I liked taking it to the rebellion for once but when it came down to your reserves and beating the enemy you were either seriosly kicking but or you were getting dominated it was never man for man and vehicles and stationary weapons were to slow buy the time you got to turing around in the turrents you were getting blasted and when you got to fly X-Wings and the empire fighters there was not enough room or time to really line up a shot on ground units or vehicles and the snipers suck you had to wait for them to stand perfectly still or predict there next move down to the exact spot, I cant talk for multiplayer cause I did not bother to keep the game that long, at least I got good trade in value.
