This game is freakin awesome. Don't be fooled by the cell shading, the game is well done in all perspectives. This is one of those games where I didn't mind playing the levels over again....and that's a rare thing these days. Henshin a go-go baby!!!!!!!!!

This is a really great game. If you like the matrix it has a lot of slow-mo stuff like it. The graphics are kind of weird, but if you liked zelda the windwaker then you'll be fine. The fighting is really cool and it has an old-school side scrolling feel. The only downside is that it was a bit easy to beat.

ok but graphics ruin it

Quality Movie-Style Action

Enter the world of Joe, or rather, Joe enter the world of movies. With his girlfriend Silvia seized by the villian of a movie and Joe's hero, Captain Blue, defeated, he must step in and don the V-watch of the mighty hero and win back his girl.

GRAPHICS (9/10):

Viewtiful Joe, though it looks rather ridiculous and the graphics mediocre on the box, is in fact quite a graphical masterpiece. While the graphics won't win any aware for realistic portrayal of events, they could win for matching the style of game they represent. The strange cell-shaded 2/3-D action is delightful, particular with the ability Joe has to manipulate the scene around him (Mach Speed, Slow-Mo, and Zoom In). The scene transitions are sharp and well done, and there are virtually no problems with camera angles. It is, however, sometimes difficult to tell what parts of the environment you can and cannot interact with.

SOUND (7/10):

While the music is often cute and fitting, the repetitive voices during various sequences can become quite irritating. The music itself is good for the game, and the sound effects are amusing until you find yourself stuck on a level and you hear some particular line ("Cut! Cut! Cut!" or "A Bomb Has Been Armed!") about three hundred times, you'll want to shoot yourself.

PLOT (7/10):

While not original, the plot is fairly well done. Most chapters are disjoint stories on their own, where you may go from one chapter being in a cave to the next on city streets. The ultimate goal of saving Joe's girlfriend is always overshadowed by the next boss, and it doesn't seem to have an entirely logical progression towards saving Silvia.

GAMEPLAY (10/10):

This is truly where Viewtiful Joe excels. After completing the beginning of the third part, Joe will have access to all of his trademark moves (as mentioned above) as well as the opportunity to buy a host of upgrades for these abilities. The combinations available of even the base moves make this game wonderful to play as well as watch.

DIFFICULTY (7/10):

Two modes are avialable - "Kids" and "Adults". The primary difference is the life of the bosses and enemies, and the number that appear on the screen at once. Also, health is not as easily obtainable in "Kids" mode. Many of the "puzzles" are not intuitively obvious (such as slowing time to make jets build up or water drops to become huge).

REPLAY (5/10):

Unless you begin on "Kids" difficulty, you may find this game doesn't have a lot of replay value (unless you want to go through and beat it "Viewtifully"), which is typical of side-scroller games. For myself, after getting through the third chapter, I decided to start over and found it a (boring) breeze to get all the way back to where I was, as I knew all of the puzzles and tricks.

OVERALL (7.5/10):

A quality game, with only a handful of real annoyances. With dedication, it can pretty easily be conquered in a single rental. Unless you have several people that want to play through it and play with it, I wouldn't advise buying it while it is still full price.

Hope this was helpful.

This is PopcornDemon review for Viewtiful Joe Online Street Team.

This is a game everyone will love. If you don't like sidescrollers you will now! Once you start this game you can't stop! You are warped into a movie trying to rescue your girl from the bad guys! With this you will get special powers(VFX)called SLOW (like the Matrix where you can dodge bullets) Zoom in(zooms in) and Mach Speed(Speeds everything up.) It is an awesome game that everyone from all ages will love!!!!

I played this game once, and I put it down about 15 minutes later. What I didn't like about this game is the "showoffy" main character, and the cliche plot. These 2 things alone add up to a sucky game. The only thing I liked about it are the controls. They're easy to memorize. This game is only worth renting.

I've just recently played the Veiwtiful Joe demo and I was blown away! The Graphics are Awesome and the action is intense! I can't wait for this game to come to the states! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I haven't played the whole game yet! Until then, Ta-Ta!
