This game totally is one of my favorite games ever. I have been a Sonic fan since the first of the Sonic the Hedgehog games. This game has great graphics and sound. The music is awesome! The only part I ever complain about is the treasure hunts. But I'll still give it 5 stars. I also love the way the gamecube version has added more characters onto the versus mode. The Chaos are also a big part of how much fun the game is. Every part of the game is awesome. For those of you who have a Gamecube, but not this game, stop wasting time and buy it fast!!!
If It was a test for school, I'd give it a 97

Probably the two bes reasons I lovethis game is
1. CHAO GARDEN!!!
2. Sonic/Shadow's Action Stages
I mostly play the game becuase of the chaos. I have one chao that I love a LOT which died a few days ago but became reborn. When you take care of your chao, It's almost like it's your very best. I'm gonna rate everyting in this game now.

This game is the main reason I wanted a Cube. The cool thing about it is, you can do things you cannot do in real life. Here are some examples:
1:Run straight DOWN a building
2:Brethe in space
3:Raise cute creatures called Chao(chow)
4:Piolet a mech
5:Run a loop-the-loop

Graphics:Awesome, the cinamatics are great. 6/5
Sound:Music is WONDERFUL 5/5
Story:Pretty cool 5/5
Controls:Kinda hard especiallly "Action Window"(shudders) 4/5
Gameplay:Unusual, there are three(4,actually)types of Action Stages.
1 Sonic/Shadow:Run thourgh levels really fast 5/5
2 Tails/Eggman:Shoot down enimies...MASS DESTRUCTION!!!!! 5/5
3 Knuckles/Rouge:Find 3 items 4/5
4 All charecters:Raise Chao 5/5

*Eggman is trying to take over the world! Defeat him or help him, choose Hero or Dark side story.
*2 new charecters! Shadow the COOLEST ultimate life form around, and Rouge, a treasure hunter, with the butt-kicking abilities of Wonder Woman.
*Raise CUTE Chao!
*Play 2-Player Battle Mode! Unlock secret charecters(Mecha Sonic,Amy,Chaos 0) and coustumes(Racing outfits for Sonic and Shadow) There are more then those, so work hard!

Other Stuff:
1 Some people talk about the "Mild Lyrics" rating, and don't want to buy the game because they have young kids(5-8) Come on! In my opinion, they made a mistake on the box. It should say "Mild Lyric" The lyric's go "There ain't a d*mn thing funny" It's Kunx's theme. It goes so fast, you can barley hear it!
2 Sonic/Shadow both have SOAP shoes!(A type of grinding shoe)
3 NigHTs makes some appearances in this game. Look at the posters in City Escape and the towers in Radical Highway. In case you didn't know, NigHTs is a charecter in NigHTs Into Dreams is a game for Sega Saturn.

So buy this game NOW! You'll be glad you did!

This was my first game for gamecube, and despite the fact I already had the Dreamcast version (the updated 2 player mode of this gamecube version was much appriciated), I had hours of fun and still do. The thing that I love about this game is it's variety, you even have two story modes, both featuring there own set of levels! The two story modes, Hero (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles) and Dark (Shadow, Robotnik, Rouge), also provide a different perspective on the same story, which helps in understanding it. This game has three types of stages, the Sonic/Shadow stages are pretty much the 3-D version of the classic Sonic action that practically all gamers are familiar with. The Tails/Robotnik stages are third-person shooters, lock on to multiple enemies to gain extra points. The Knuckles/Rouge stages are "treasure hunting" challenges, and some of the harder ones are just that, challenging (and annoying if you get stuck on them for two long). Follow the radar at the bottom of the screen as it changes from green (cold) to red (hot) to find the peices of the master emerald. Each story also features a driving mini game. There are also a variety of engaging boss battles and once you finish both story modes, a "Last Story" opens with one ultra hard stage where you'll have to use all characters (except Shadow who does the first of the two consective final battles afterwards). There is also a chao mode where you can raise these virtual pets. You can alter their looks and abilitys with the small animals and chaos drives (crayons) you find in the stages. This game also has unlockable features and multiple missions (and ranks) for each stage. Surely a game with this much fun and variety should satisfy any gamer or Sonic fan!

While there are better 2-d Sonic games (sonic 1, sonic 3), Sonic Adventure 2: Battle earns its title as one of the best sonic games ever. I personaly did not like the Rouge/Knuckles levels, though there are some people who enjoy treasure hunting. The Tails/Eggman levels are fun the first couple of time around, but they dont have much replay ability. On the other hand, the Sonic/Shadow levels are amazingly well done. I have owned this game for 2 years and still go back to play Sonics level "City Escape" whenever I get the chance.
The music for this game is unquestionably good. This, and the recent Sega release "Shadow the Hedgehog" have the best Sonic music ever. In all situations, music sets the mood. That goes for movies, TV, video games, and even car rides. The Sega music team, and all others who worked on this amazing soundtrack, should be commemorated for their work. While during gameplay the music can be obscured by noises of your character, enemies, and the environment, Sega decided to add a sound test option. So even if you dont catch a lyric or a beat during gameplay, after you have beaten the level you can go to the sound test option and play the song of your choice.
Chao (pronounced CHOW) are another fun thing in this game. If you dont generally play for a long time, then Chao probably arent your thing. But if you want to truely beat the game, you must master the ways of Chao. While traveling through the game you will come across enemies (duh). But after destroying the enemy in question, a small glowing stick will float gently to the ground. This is a chaos drive. Chaos drives, accompanied with animals and fruits, are what make your Chao grow. After aging and training your Chao, you can enter it in Chao Karate and Chao Race. There is not much involvment in these sports. If your Chao is discouraged you can yell to work harder, but thats about it. Once beating a race or karate match, you will get an emblem. There are 9 emblems you can get from Chao. The rest of the emblems are ones you get for completing a task in-game.
Now to talk about karts. After you beat the driving levels in the campaign, Kart race becomes available. There is not much to say about kart races except that I hate them. They are overly hard, but you must complete easy, medium, and hard to get three more emblems for your archive. After collecting all 180 emblems in the game a new playable level appears on your map.
Moving on, lets talk about multiplayer. I dont have very much experience in multiplayer, but I do have enough to write a semi-decent review. In multiplayer you can do a number of things. You can challenge a friend to a race in one of the Sonic levels, see who can find 2 gems first in a Knuckles level, or just blow each other to peices in an Eggman/Tails arena. But you can also Challenge a friends Chao. You and your friend can race or battle your Chao. Or you and a friend can Kart race against each other. There are also several characters that are only playable in multiplayer (Metal Sonic, Tikal, Chao Walker, Amy, etc), as well as some exclusive levels.
Lets talk GBA. If you have a Gameboy Advance (or SP) and Sonic Advance, then you can link it to your gamecube and transfer Chao data. If you have a special fruit or egg that you want to transfer, just link em up. You can also send Chao back and forth. One of my favorite features of this link is that you can send your accumulated rings from your GBA to your gamecube.
So, all things considered, this game is amazing. The graphics arent perfect, and the lip syncing is terrible, but the gameplay is still very fun. I still go back today to play this amazing peice of work, and I still raise Chao. I hope this review has helped.

This game was the reason why i wanted to get a gc last december ' now this game is packed with fun stages ' some can be difficult to get an emblem on but alls well ends well ' If youre new to the game Dr Robotnik aka Dr Eggman is a playble character on here i think its fun playing as him ' his stages are cool knux and rouges treasure hunting stages were also okay in my opinion and sonic and shadows stages were straight forward '
And whats also better is the chao are back but this time their better then ever unlike SA/SADX you can now 'take your chao to kindergarten to learn stuff but when im playing the game i always take my chao there every 10 - 15 minutes ' and their is now chao karate and more challanging chao races ' And now when you beat hero side dark side and last story mode you can now select a scene ' which is extreamy cool ; everyday i always go to scene select to beat egg golemi since hes my favorite boss on the dark side hes easier to beat with eggman then with sonic
And now theirs a robotic chao name omochao this little runt gives you hints on the stage at times he gets annyoing at times ' well you can fix that you can throw omochao at enemies attack him yourself and throw him where he can get squished by a moving weight ' and what all he says when you torture him is real funny it will make you laugh and giggle
Also when you collect all 180 emblems you will unlock something very familar im not going to tell you what it is you might already know but still i dont want to spoil it for people new to the game ;)
And be sure to always be nice to your chao the word L O V E is their favorite word but their hated word they dont like is A B U S E ' if youre mean to your chao they will be sad and be mean back to you so they wont like you untill you like them '
PS Buy This Game you wont regret it :)

Dreamcast makes a return of the cube!
I reconmend this game to anyone.
Sonic and company are back and better than ever in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for Nintendo GameCube. Dr. Eggman is up to his old tricks, and it's up to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to stop him yet again. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle features faster action, all-new two-player games, and a branching storyline that lets you choose to save the world as the Hero side, or conquer it as the Dark side. Two new playable characters enter the Sonic universe -- a mysterious dark hedgehog called Shadow, and a jewel-thieving bat named Rouge. In the single-player mode, you'll go through more than 30 unique stages, which include everything from a forgotten pyramid, an abandoned military base, and a giant space station. Then there's the expanded two-player mode, which features 12 playable characters competing in new head-to-head games. All of this adds up to Sonic's biggest adventure yet!
New two-player "Battle" mode featuring action racing, treasure hunting, shooting, kart racing, Chao racing, and the comical new Chao karate.
12 playable characters -- Six hero and dark characters plus six others from the Sonic series, including Amy Rose, Metal Sonic, and Chaos Zero.
Cable Link with Game Boy® Advance -- Raise and train your Chao on the go!
Single-player Adventure mode lets you try to save the world as Sonic and friends, or conquer it as Shadow, Rouge, and Dr. Robotnik.
New Moves -- Grind down rails, grab ledges, and swing from poles.
More than action 30 Stages and 150 missions. Can you collect all 180 emblems?
Sonic vs. Shadow, great speed and fun!

This game is great. The best players to play are Sonic and Shadow because of their speed. This game is better than Sonic Adventure because you can play as two teams Hero and Dark. Team Dark is more challenging than Team Hero. My favorite stage is Aqua Mine because of all the water and mystic melody.

The one thing one must understand about Sonic Adventure 2 is it was released worldwide over the span of a week. Quite a feat considering its predecessor hit the states well over a year after it arrived on Japanese shelves. But this time the occasion was the week of Sonic's 10th Anniversary. Now, it would have been possible to just give the milestone a nod and crank out another game, but Sonic Team made it clear that Sonic Adventure 2 would itself be their celebration for the occasion.
And so they pulled out all the stops for the occasion, but like gray hairs, once one was pulled, nine came to its funeral. For instance, the plot had to be epic, and so, the Earth was put in danger by a high-scale weapon in its orbit. However, this brought the last few levels to that arena which got redundant rather quickly. Such limitations would cause the game to crash and burn, but Sonic Team is equipped with a passionate ambition to deliver a kick-ass game for Sonic's birthday.
Instead of saturating the installment in nostalgia, they simply imply it while braving a frontier that's new to them. It may seem like a jarring dosage of new elements at first, but treating Sonic the same way they did when he was first created just wouldn't be an appropriate way to honor him for enduring a decade. Despite the unarguable cliché of impending doom from an oversized laser (Shadow actually describes it as a "weapon of mass destruction") there's something that smacks of the classic days in the exchanges between Sonic and Eggman and in the scene where Sonic, Tails and Knuckles permeate Eggman's base in the desert (particularly when two of them start feuding).
Sure, some of their decisions are questionable. For instance, in order to grind rails, Sonic doesn't wear his generic white-striped high tops, but special Soap brand shoes. (And let the record show they're far from subtle about it.) Also, Tails and Eggman's mechanical walker stages halt the flow of the game. They're bulky, clumsy, and worst of all, sluggish. Knuckles and Rouge's treasure hunting stages get stale halfway through and just plain unbearable when it comes down to their last. In fact, what keeps the pace of the game is the classic gameplay donned by Sonic and Shadow. Even the grinding feels like a commonplace element once you understand it and get comfortable with it.
There are plenty of low points, but Sonic Team does know when their time to shine is, and when they deliver, by george, they hit home. The last action stage is a bit of a gaffe just because it's an echo of all the elements that had been overused even before it started, but the final two bosses is just a delicious challenge on two different playing fields.
And their execution is at a career high, to boot. The cut-scenes that aren't CGed are no longer as clumsy-looking as in Sonic Adventure 1. No more cameras going through characters' hands, legs going through clothing, or special effects that are so cheesy "special" takes on a less flattering meaning. (For an example, watch as Chaos 4 transforms to Chaos 6.) You'd be shocked the detail Sonic Team renders here, even for something as simple as Shadow's first use of Chaos Control.
It's hard to explain just why the weakest title in the saga to date serves its purpose as a decent tribute to the first five. Possibly because, at least not in this case, "worse" doesn't mean "bad". While exposing some weak spots, Sonic Adventure 2 also reminds us of the talent Sonic Team still has and is willing to use, and serves its purpose as a set-up for the next ten years as much as a commemoration of the first ten.
