Sonic should ditch his friends

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 4 / 6

Sonic is great. It is everything else that drags this game down.
Just like Sonic Adventure (and later Sonic Adventure Director's Cut) you have secondary characters that you can play as. So please sega, STOP IT.
The game is "Sonic Adventure", not "Sonic's friends have a tea party and if time permits perhaps an adventure." (Which I think we'll see as a 2008 release)
Also they have ruined the characters that were great. I used to love Knuckles, but in this game his controls are bad and levels are awful. I used to love Tails, but in this game he is in a mech suit. That's right, a giant mech suit for no reason whatsoever. The evil versions are EXACTLY the same. Robotnik is in a mech suit, Rogue is a female knuckles, etc...
I play sonic games for SONIC, not for his posse. Sonic Heroes continued this increase in the number of playable characters, which also increased how bad it was.
Do yourself a favor - pick up Sonic Adventure Director's Cut or one of the collections of old sonic games like Sonic Mega Collection Plus PS2.

From the Sonic the Hedgehog Games Made from 2000-2006, this is the best one. Overlooked quite frequently.

Now I know that the original Sonic the Hedgehog games where much better then any of our modern day ones, but this one is unique. I love the storyline and the stages are well done. Characters (except tails because he gets quite annoying) you can love for ages. Shadow the Hedgehog gives the whole Sonic the Hedgehog storyline an amazing twist.
You can beat the game and still have more to do! There are missions, and Chao...I love raising my chao. I have all chaos chao types and all gardens...(woo go me!). Chao are fun to raise. Now the missions, if you do all of them and get As for each one you will unlock quite a few things..(but I shall not list them...I don't want to ruin the suprise.) You'll be entertained for hours.
I love this game quite a lot...all of the other modern-day Sonic the Hedgehog games are too...soft....well I can't explain it but you may know what I mean if you play SA2B before playing the others, Sonic Adventure DX Directors Cut(Even though it was the original), Sonic Heros (which sucked the big one), Shadow the Hedgehog (2nd best), Sonic Riders, and the new Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 (which I just received for christmas.). These don't compare to SA2B.
Take my word for it...you'll love it.

Sonic Adventure Battle 2 is the best game ever for any system. It has a lot of levels and it never gets boring. A must get for
the GameCube, which is much better than the XCrap and PS2. Trust me I know what I'm talking about.

A pretty good game!

This game has some good things and bad things. First the good things. 1. It has great graphics and sound effects. 2. The characters and the 2 stories (Dark or Hero) behind them are great. 3. The chao garden feature (Sort-of a 3D giga pet but more involved)is tons of fun if your stuck in a part of the game or you just don't feel like playing the main game. 4. You can use a special link cable to interface with Sonic Advance for Game Boy Advance. 5. The 2 player mode is fun assuming you have two controlers. Which leads to the bad parts. 1. NOT ENOUGH OF THAT SUPER-SONIC BULE HEDGEHOG (and shadow too). Only about one third of the game is Sonic or Shadow oriented (of course the parts that are are the best). 2. If you don't have 2 controllers (or a sibling, friend, parent etc.) there's not a whole lot to do after you beat the game. 3. The treasure hunt levels are quick but annoying. They use a sort-of "hot-cold" radar system which isn't as accurate as it could be. 4. This game is relatively easy to beat so if you don't like playing levels over again to get perfect scores... well you get it. 5. And finaly the background music is a little annoying. On some levels it sounds like heavy metal and on others like love balads.
But luckily there are some added features for the few who play long enough (like extra levels and "super" chaos). So over all it's a good game and would recomend it to anyone unless as I said before you have a very low tolerence for redoing things over and over again.

Very Nice!

Nice job Sega! It's great!

In 1-P Story mode, you can save the world (Sonic, Knuckles, Tails), or even conquer it (Dr. Eggman, Shadow, Rouge). There are 16 Hero, 14 Dark, and the final stage and 2 bosses once both stories are complete. In Stage Select, you can play up to 31 stages for 155 emblems! Kart Racing is simple but fun, and Boss Attack lets you choose a story, and battle every boss.

2-P Battle Mode is vastly improved, and great too! In Racing, you can play as Sonic, Shadow, Amy, or Metal Sonic; in Hunting, you play as Knuckles, Rouge, Tikal, or Chaos Zero; in Shooting, you play as Tails, Dr. Eggman, Chao Walker, or Dark Chao Walker. There is a nice 4-P Chao Race, 2-P Chao Karate, and a great 2-P Kart Race to round things out here.

In Chao World, there is the ability to raise hero, dark, or neutral Chao. If a hero or dark Chao is raised, Hero or Dark Gardens will appear. The Chao Kindergarten in Sonic Adventure 2 [was bad](Health Center with no personality, record or stat check, long classes, not enough tips), but it rules here, partly because of a new Fortune-Teller that names, and mainly because of the new Black Market. It sells rare eggs, 7 different fruits, 8 different seeds, masks, and other items. In Chao Stadium, you can play in special races, or Karate tournaments. If you use the better-looking Chao Transporter, you can move your Chao to different Gardens through different Memory Cards, or drop it off in Sonic Advance's Tiny Chao Garden!

This game has unlockable Karts and Costumes once you have all of a characters emblems. The Green Hill Zone, the hidden stage, is very hard to get,..., because you must get all 180 emblems. (At max, in 2-P Battle, there are 30 stages!)

Some levels are tedious and cheap, and then the games over.

Sonic made it's debut on the Sega system. Ever since, it has been the corporate icon to sega. Just like Crash Bandicoot is to Sony, or a more prominent example, Mario to Nintendo. When X-Box and Gamecube came out, Sega was, how should we say it, in deep trouble. It conceded, giving the rights to games away, such as Crazy Taxi. It also sold some gaming rights to select companies, either Nintendo or Microsoft. Sonic was handed to Nintendo.
They took Sonic, Tales, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman, and worked out a plot and made some new characters. All together, a good idea, but it needs some work still.

The gameplay is very odd. You can be on the Dark Side, or on the Good side. The good side is Sonic, Tales, Knuckles, etc. On the Sega, the bad guy was Dr. Eggman. Knowing you can't build a game mainly on one player, they added 3 other people. Rogue, a copy of knuckles, and Shadow, a copy of Sonic. Each level is identical for both Good and Evil, but the story line is different. Also, it has the gameboy advance link. I don't own Sonic on the GBA, but what I know is that you can import "Chao's" sort of like pokemon, and be able to interact with them, all in 3D on the gamecube. All in All, a good idea. The problem? If you ask anyone what the most boring part of the level is, they will say the Hunt for the Master Emerald Series. Every 2 or so levels, you go on a quest to find 3 objects, hidden. It is so incredibly boring, you will give up have the time. Also, some levels are unfair, and involve Trial and Error methods. You are "invincible" in a sense too. You collect rings, but when you are touched by and enemy or an object, you lose all your coins except for 20, that will spring out from you and you must get them. If you are hit when you have 0 coins, you die. You can also fall down, which happens all the time, and you will immediately die. Those 2 parts alone make me so angry. It is also too short! The multiplayer could use a definite upgrade. There are not many options to use, and some of them are pretty much one sided. Such as, should I choose Tails with 5 stars, or the chao robot with only 3? Hmmmm.... With all the problems, I can do nothing but give the gameplay a 6.5/10.

As all my other reviews state, Gamecube graphics will knock your socks off. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle stays true to the promise of killer graphics. Everything is in 3D really. However, there are Camera issues. You cannot really pan around to well. You cannot set the camera to one spot, making backing up dangerous, for you don't know what's behind you. Because of the Camera issues, I'm going to give the graphics an 8/10.

The sound itself is not that great. There are no many sound effects. The music and voices though are fantastic. All players have perfect casted voices. There is also great music. All players have different sound tracks. The best thing is you can hear all of them from the sound test option. Despite the bad sound effects, I can't complain about anything else. Sound gets a 9.5/10.

When I say speed I don't mean how fast Sonic's feat are. I'm talking loading time. It takes a while to load, a medium time. It would have been nice to see it go faster, but it's not painfully bad. Speed gets an average 8/10 grade.

The controls are above average. They do have some bugs in them though. You also have a problem with choosing what you want. You have a varius amount of moves to do, and you must perform all of them with the A and B button. Some special moves are hardly performed because of the confusion of button control. If you decide to buy the game, you will immedietly notice something is "just not right" With the issues, controls get a 7/10.

Replay value is easy to execute. You can replay any mission differetly 5 times. You play each level with a select goal, then you can play is 4 more times with a different goal each time. Such as, in the first level, you slide down the streets on a snowboard. Your object is to avoid the bad guys. After you beat it, you may play it again, this time you must collect 100 coins. Multiplayer always adds more points to the replay value, but I still suggest you don't buy it, because when it's over, it's over. Replay Value gets a 7/10.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Which is technically 1, not 2, because a previous game doesn not exist) is a nice game to play, but becomes boring when you beat it. There are not to many levels, and by playing about an hour a day, you should be able to beat the entire game in 2 weeks. If you have Sonic on the GBA, you probably may want to buy it just for the special things it gives you for your Chao's, such as power ups and special chao's only found in the GCube game.

Let's review:
Gameplay: 6.5/10
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 9.5/10
Speed: 8/10
Controls: 7/10
Replay value: 7/10
Total: 46/60 giving Sonic Adventure 2 Battle a 76.67.

There are cheats, but only for the Chao world. I'll give it an extra .5, because of the cheat.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle's new total is 46.5, giving it a 77.50, a slightly below average game.

This game is a lot like Sonic adventure, but defineatly not Sonic adventure. Its even better! First you get to choose between hero and dark gameplay modes. As hero, you would be Sonic, the speedy protaginist, Tails, the robot maker(you actually are in one of his inventions unless youre in chao world), or Knuckles, the treasure hunter. In dark mode, you would be Shadow, the black sonic-like antagonist, Eggman the crazy genius(who also uses a robot like Tails), or Rouge, the treasure hunter (or should I say robber!).

So basically Eggman awakens Shadow, the black sonic clone, and then Shadow robs the bank and stuff. GUN, the military group, mistakes Shadow for Sonic (what kind of idiot does that!?) and Sonic's makin a run for it in a search for chaos emeralds, rings, and other stuff.

Here's what is really cool! Chao! Introduced in Sonic Adventure, these cute little dudes are fun to raise, snuggle, and even breed! The chao world is divided into 4 parts (only 2 in the beginning): Chao garden, where you raise your chao (you start out with two of them, and kindergarten (where you can name your chao, get a medical exam, learn stuff, and buy stolen goods!) The secret 2 are the hero garden and dark garden, special raising grounds for chaos of allegiance. To unlock these gardens, simply gain a chao of the correct allegiance, by feeding it either hero or dark fruit, or by raising it with a hero or dark character. Oh yeah, to get into the chao garden, all you have to do is find one chao key on one level! Easy! But if you want to be able to select a character to go in with, you must find them a key!

The music in this game is the best in any game. It even has lyrics and it totally rocks out on Sonic's levels!

I consider this the best Sonic game, and my 4th favorite game! It's for gamecube and dreamcast, just so ya know. If you dont have this game, buy it! And if you dont have a gamecube or dreamcast, hurry up and get one! I bought this game 4 years ago and am still having loads of fun!

This looks great

This looks great, when it comes out you are suppose to be able to hook up your GameCube to your Game Boy Advance that has a Sonic Advance game in it with a special cord. And you'll be able to give a Chao character to your Sonic Advance game and give it back whenever you want.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is the best game I ever played. Great Graphics, great story...you know !!!! great everything. In the game you get to pick a team that you want to play as,you can pick Sonic's team with Sonic,Tails and Knuckels or you can pick Dr Eggman's team (or should I say Dr Robotnik)with Dr Eggman,Rouge or Shadow. If you pick Sonic's team you'll help Sonic in saving the world or if you pick Dr Eggman's team you'll help Dr Eggman in destroying the world.Your choice, but I prefer helping Dr Eggman, because for the first ever,I can destroy earth.

Also in the game, there is a battle mode, where you and another player (or computer) battle,Snowboarding, races and lots more...

I really enjoy it,so if you buy it you won't regret it,
I promise.
