Sonics first nintendo game is a hit!

Well I being an owner of a Sega Genesis have played many of the classic sonic games. So when this came out for the Cube I thought I should expand my Sonic collection. I a glad I did. The game features two main modes Hero and Dark. Both vary in different ways but share a common goal, to collect all the Chaos Emeralds. In Dark you play as Shadow, Dr.Eggman, and Rouge. In Hero you play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. After you beat both sides you unlock a new mode. In this mode all six characters come togehter to prevent the space statio n from running into Earth. The game itself contains over 150 missions. Exclusive to the Gamecube version is a series of multiplayer games. In these games you can be such people as Chaos Zero, metal sonic, or Amy. The reason this game got 4 stars is because the game lacks replay value and the multiplayer games are a little lacking. Overall,I'd say the game is worth a buy.

Personally, I love Sonic games. Ever since we got Sonic 2 on the Sega Genesis, I couldn't get enough. I've played every Sonic game, and this one is a true addition to the series.
As soon as I learned of it's existence, I had to buy Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. And let me tell you, I wasn't dissapointed. The gameplay is absolutely excellent, with the varying techniques you have to use in Sonic/Shadow, Tails/Eggman, Knuckles/Rouge levels. Sonic/Shadow levels are fast-paced, exciting levels with amazing scenery and great music. Two of my favorites are City Escape and Green Forest. I like to turn the volume way up and jam to the rock music while zipping through incredible graphics. Tails/Eggman levels are slower and sometimes tough levels, especially if you haven't gotten various upgrades yet. Knuckles' levels are interesting, challenging search levels with some really laid-back music and go-at-your-own-pace speed. Rouge has some disco-style music, but some of the later levels for her get really, REALLY frustrating.
If the game is too short for you, remember you can choose to play both the hero story and dark story. Both are very fun, although the plot takes itself WAY to seriously and sometimes they didn't do a good job of adjusting the BGM volume level to be lower than the voice acting. But even if you run through both stories quickly, you can still spend hours with a friend on the multiplayer levels, which are suprisingly addicting.
And if Single and Multiplayer levels aren't enough to keep your attention, spend some time chillin' in the Chao Garden. You won't leave. The Chao are little Tamogatchi-style creatures that you hatch and raise with different attributes to later fight or race them. It seems weird but you end up spending more time raising these things than actually playing the rest of the game.
Either way, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a must have for any Sonic fan, and a must have for anyone else that just has a Game Cube.

Video Game Review
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
By Alex Kessis
The first thing I have to say about this game is, WOW! This game has awesome graphics, great gameplay, and cool characters. There are three modes you can do (by yourself). Story mode, stage mode, and racing mode. In story mode, you can play the hero story (with Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails), or the dark story (with Shadow, Rouge, and Dr. Eggman).
Story: As usual, Dr. Eggman is trying to steal the seven Chaos Emeralds to obtain ultimate power. Rouge, who is an extreme jewelry collector, is trying to steal the seven chaos emeralds also. Knuckles, the greatest treasure hunter in the world, is trying to stop her. Shadow, who is a clone of Sonic created by Dr. Eggman's grandfather, is trying to figure out who he is, and what is his fate. He has been robbing banks and committing crimes. Now the police and the army are blaming all these things on Sonic. Sonic is mainly trying to stop him and get the seven Chaos Emeralds before Dr. Eggman does.
Stage mode is where you can play stages you have already completed for fun, or to get better rankings on them. Racing mode is cool too. You can drive with all six main characters, but there's only one course!
So, why did Sega and Sonic Team make a remake of the original Sonic Adventure 2 for the Sega Dreamcast? The answer is this: Two-player battle mode. You can race your friends on stages (with Sonic, Shadow, Metal Sonic, or Amy), or have a treasure-hunting showdown (with Knuckles, Rouge, Chaoszero, or Tikal), or, a laser battle (with Tails, Dr. Eggman, the Light Chao machine, or the Dark Chao machine). You can even have a Grand Prix (with the six main characters).
As one of the first Nintendo Gamecube games, it makes the system look great. Even though it was a remake of the Sega Dreamcast original, it still is a ton of fun. This is definitely my favorite Sonic the Hedgehog game to date.
9.8/10

Actually, I will give it a 4.6. There are a few detractors to this game, namely the camera angles and the fact that the BGM is so darn loud during cut scenes...

Otherwise, I don't know what to say. The game is campy and hilariously so. I'm not saying it's like the "Plan Nine from Outer Space" of games. The levels are totally rad. The controls are great and easy. The game is challenging, yet it is never stupidly hard (except for the Final stage...and Final Chase which drove me nuts because it would have been easy except for those blue blob things!!). The chao are disgustingly adorable; I could watch them for hours (castinets!). All in all, more entertaining than a Golden Girls marathon (best show ever!).

Yet, it is still campy. The storyline is cheesy and like something you would see on MST3K (starring....JOE DON BAKER as DR. EGGMAN!) but that makes it all more loveable. Doesn't Eggman have a job or a life outside of persuing Sonic and pals? Poor bloke, no wonder why he's tripped his trolley.

The voices are funny, especially Tails. He sounds like Degrassi Jr. High reject (Tails: Soonic! Have you seen my Cyclune yet? It can rilly fly, eh?) and Rouge reminds me of Sami from Days of our Lives. Also, be sure to listen to the Japanese voices!

The funniest parts come in the lyrics to the Knuckles raps. "I know that it's here, I can sense it in my feet!"--- never has anyone rapped that passionately about a anthropomorphic red echidna. The "rock" songs are so cheesy and 80's, they should have been performed by Starship or Mr. Mister. Rouge's songs all sound like someone held Burt Bacharach up at gunpoint and forced him to compose video game music (not that there is anything wrong with that).

I love the two-player mode. My favorite character is there- Tikal! It only really, really bugs me that you can't compete against the CPU! Oh well. The "desktop" themes are cute, too.

While not perfect, I think you get a lot for your money. I have not played a Sonic game since Genesis and I always thought the cartoon(s) was(were) wonky. It's nice to see the Sonic Team crew again. All in all, this game is cooler than the Fonz and Orko, driving down the Autobahn in a Delorean with Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen in the backseat, blaring Kraftwerk out the window.

Horrid

I loved the first Sonic Adventure game (Gamecube remake) and I only expected this one to be as good, if not better. But, boy was I wrong. It's a truly horrible game that's scattered all over the place with no non-linear progression or free roaming abilities of the original.

The graphics are ugly, the camera system is the worst I have ever come across and the levels are tiresome and repetitive. Where's the dynamic gameplay of the first game? Or the cool mini-games that keep you coming back again and again? It was just ugly and garish and far inferior to Sonic Adventure. Do not buy or rent.

I can only hope and pray that Sonic Heros is better because I have already bought it.

Best Sonic Game Yet

THIS IS THE BEST GAME 4 GAMECUBE YET. This is a great game. Dont listen 2 the people who say it [BOMBS] because it doesnt. A game almost any age level would like(my dad likes 2 play the game). With 2 modes to play in adventure mode, good and evil and lots and lots of missions. There is also a great 2 player mode with many things like kart racing or chaos hunting. I give this game 3 thumbs up and a rating of from 1 to 10 a 15.:)

Sonic Rules!

Sonic Adventure 2:Battle is a great game. It is one of the best games I have ever played. I love being able to select the hero or dark side stories. The characters on the hero side are Sonic (of course), Tails, and Knuckles. The characters on the dark side are Shadow the Hedgehog, DR. Eggman (aka: Dr. Robotnik), and Rouge the Bat. The controls for the characters on one side are basicaly the same as the characters on the other side. My favorite levels were the Sonic and Shadow levels. In the Tails and Dr. Robotnik levels, you control a walking robot with lock-on missiles and volkam cannons. In the Knuckles and Rouge games, you have to find a certain treasure.
There are only two things I don't like about the game:1:There should have been more Sonic and Shadow levels. And 2: The camera angles can get frustrating at times. Other than those two things, I thought the game was very good. Even after I cleared all of the stages in story mode, I like to go back and play them again (especially the Sonic and Shadow levels). If you're thinking about buying a new game, I suggest this one!

I am a long time Sonic fan. I had Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic and Tails, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic Pinball all for the Sega Genisis system. Then Sonic Adventure came out on Sega's Dreamcast and I never played it, but as soon as Sonic Adventure 2 came out for Nintendo Gamecube, I had to have it. The graphics are unbelieveable. The characters are awesome, all of them. The 3 on each side, Hero or Dark, are so different and so are their levels. That is another thing, you get to choose from Sonic or Shadow on their fast speed, action levels; Tails or Eggman, and their on their shooting levels in their walkers; and Knuckles and Rouge in their hunting levels. The choice to choose from the Hero and Dark side is very cool and the suprise at the end is even cooler. Plus, beating a level once is fun, but beating it in different ways is better. Then there are the Chao. These creatures are truely cool and original. Raising, racing and competing in karate competitions are great. This game, is a 5 star game in my opinion!
