In this game, kids can beat up baddies while going through stages and obtaining new items.

-The Game

Joining the bad side or fighting for justice, you can save the world-or conquer it! The many stages are of different varieties. And at the end of each stage, if you obtain the 'Chao Key' you can go to 'Chao Garden!'

-Chao

Chao are adorable little creatures the you take care of by giving them Chaos Drives and Animals. Giving them Chaos Drives raises one particular level, and giving them animals changes their look and raises a variety of levels. Depending on how you raise them changes their personality. Depending on who you raise them with changes if they become good or bad! Chao Garden is the first garden you come to. Then, after being unlocked, you can have Hero and Dark Gardens!

This game is a recomendation.

Sonic just isn't the same in 3D, and this game proves it. When you control sonic the game is fun, but you are not given the option to be sonic the whole game and you end up going on tedious and annoying treasure hunts with knuckles, and terrible mech action with tails. With Sonic being the sole character the game would have been a lot better but even still the series just isn't as entertaining in a 3d world.

A good game that could have been great

Sonic has never has so much potential to be improved on his way over to the Gamecube. The original on the Dreamcast was a great game when it came out, but it had flaws. The first being the god awful camera. Everytime you adjusted it to jump, the second you would move it, the camera would go back it its original position. It's very frustrating. Second, the treasure hunting levels are boring and not fun what so ever. These aspects wouldn't hamper the game so much if they were only present 20% of the time, but since the same camera is used through out the game and the treasure hunting levels are always abound, it really hurts the overall experince.

Problems aside, if you just take the levels involving Sonic and Shadow, the game is pure fun! The overall sense of speed is present and it plays like a dream. Never does the running and jumping stop. The levels have alot of depth and are worth playing more than once. It's last plus are the graphics. Although this is a game that once lived on the Dreamcast, the game looks agreat. It has alot of style and alough it doesn't use fancy tecniques and shadows, the game looks smooth and plays that way too.

If you're going to purchase this game, make sure that the reason you want ti is just for the SOnic/Shadow levels. The rest is not worth a thing.

Whoa, whereĆ½d Sonic go?

What does a dedicated Sega fan say when he sees the Sega logo slapped onto a GameCube game? Slowly it registers into his sluggish brain, then the dupeweed mutters, "ugh, Sega and Nintendo. . .collectively together?" Flabbergasted, he questions it to no one particular. He is frozen in wonderment. "Ummm. . .no freakin' way, dude!"

Sorry to break it to you, pal, but the Sega Dreamcast, may it rest in peace, has slumbered in its grave for two years. At the present the total considerable force of Sega has just launched to unleash a potential, ferocious beast. With an arsenal of Sega games deploying in every respectable console, the future is shaping up as stunning as never before. Among the foremost games to illustrate this contemporary, beautiful relationship is Sega releasing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the ever impressive GameCube. If you previously settled in the nest, incubating thrills with the Dreamcast version, I wouldn't suggest buying the game because basically, you get the same hatchling with an exception of the minority of sound upgrades. Nevertheless, if your hands haven't poked fun into the blue hedgehog and the rest of the bigger gang, then that's a different story. . .or is it? Does an unshakable hindrance knock Sonic's velocity off the tracks and into the grimy mud? Indeed it does.

Yes, it should be a merry stroke of grace to see Sonic the speedy hedgehog and his few buddies alongside him. Well. . .make that a bundle of buddies. A solid lineup of characters have been summoned into flight, bringing the likes of Amy and the Metal Sonic, plus others from the ancient, ephemeral cartoon. Amid the cast are a pair of newcomers, Shadow, a darker version of Sonic, and Rouge, the rip-roaring, blood-sucking bat.

Hosting a crazy degree of swifter gameplay, the single-player distributes everything from the Dreamcast precisely and imbues it in the GameCube equation. Players are to select if they are to rescue the planet on the Hero side (Sonic, Tales, etc.) or overpower it in the ominous path of the Dark side (Shadow, Rouge, etc.). In it's current repute, things echo a reasonable magnitude, but the unforgettable parts of Sonic Adventures 2 Battle is playing as Sonic or Shadow, and no one else. Moving in inconceivable speeds, the two take wing over flashy cities, pyramids, and through other realms within the 30 stages. Both the hedgehogs dole out the elfin sparkle of the game. In those seconds, the game felt like a Tony Hawk game on steroids, grinding cars, rails, and into the extremes of jaw-dropping visuals. The added characters on the other hand, lose appeal after due time. Tails and Dr. Eggman, who ride fat machinery, basically play like a shooter in lackluster, cyclic fashion. Remnants of play tilt on scavenger hunts and duller missions. There is diminutive accentuation on what made Sonic on the Sega Genesis treasured. Deficient on sweltering action, the respect for Sonic is now in evanescence.

Stages are technically trouble-free, retaining a difficulty of a walkover. Yet, the biggest grievance, the mammoth of all disasters in the game is the camera. It's so problematic, sticky, and infuriating that it'll aggravate a two-year-old. If you thought Sega would return to their blueprints for the GameCube port and fix the disorder, your hope is crushed into futility. The camera direction, so weakly constructed, gets plugged up into walls, runs all around the screen, and stays frozen in some structures.

As for the trappings on the GameCube, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is quite a flare on the multiplayer spot. Expanded nicely over the Dreamcast, the game features 12 playable characters in new fiery head-to-head competition. The games includes a multitude of extremely worthy action such as kart racing, hunting, and other splendid, but not groundbreaking, multiplayer goodness.

Next stop, the graphical estate. The GameCube port looks much, much superior over the Dreamcast. Running on a breakneck 60fps, it's surprising my TV hasn't been caught on fire. Texture wrappings are clear and beautifully bright. Slow down is abandoned where it belongs, no where. The stages are presented in several kind of themes such as military bases and flaming places. Despite the horrid camera disease, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle lives as one of the uppermost wow factors on the platform genre. On its audio turf though, the game fails to devise something worth listening to. Putting the loud, crisp sounds of gathering coins, or splashes into water, the music is terrible, lifeless popish music. The tender and placid music really makes me want to pound the electricity out of my TV set. And as you may have suspected, it gets shoddier with the voice acting. Written pointlessly, the story is just a heap of even more ....

Who would have thought that the two rivals back in the 32-bit days would combine forces? Hell, I never expected it. As for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, in my book it's worth a try but doesn't come up as a certified must. Fond of my 32-bit memories of the blue speedy, mohawk-styled hedgehog looping through endless tunnels, the newest installment ranks below expectations. I was expecting the glory of Mario's jumped from the SNES to the N64. With a horror show of camera displeasure, one has to really why Sega has not revised it's biggest franchise when they apparently had the time. If they had installed improved camera behavior, this would have been a commendable possession on the fly.

Sonic on the GameCube Is Great!

Sonic on GameCube is a great idea!
The Sonic Adeventure Battle 2 for GameCube to some extant is a good game. Sonic Team just could have made it better, and I'm sure Sonic's next game will be much more about Sonic and his friends. Tails just really needs to leave the annoying purple machine and the game has to be more about the man, Sonic.

One, only, one of the greatest to come out on the cube

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is definetly the coolest game that transferred from Sega to something else. And the music is so totally awesome. Here are my two cents:

Graphics: 10
You can't underestimate the graphics in this game. The detail of the characters are so suave. The graphics are what make it good for continuous

Gameplay: 10
The graphics help with all this, but even if the game had ... graphics, the game is so much fun. Sonic has never looked so cool. I also like how it came out on the cube. I really wouldn't want to get a dreamcast just for a couple game. This game has hours of enjoyment.

History: 7
The fact that Sega has converted over to Nintendo surprises me. And the previous Sega games, you know, the ones on Genesis, weren't the greatest. And it wasn't because of the graphics. If I was to write a review back then, I woulda given it a 10. But the gameplay is hard when it comes down to more levels. History kinda repeats itself here, basically.

Story: 9
The story itself deserves a ten, but the characters lips are moving along to the words being said. Personally, some people mght think that should go with the graphics, but it tags along with the story.

Sound/Music: 10 (or even 10+)
Damn!

Control and Atmosphere: 10
It's a refreshing game with easy controls.

Overall: 9 1/2 Stars

Pretty Good...

In this fast-paced not to hard game, you either play Team Hero story (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles) or Team Dark story (Shadow, Eggman, Rouge). The Sonic/Shadow levels are pure bliss, racing around at the speed of sound, destroyed easy to beat robots. The only hard levels are probably the ones with rails, because its so easy to jump and miss the tiny rails and fall into oblivion. Tails/Eggman levels are OK, mostly they include blowing up things with bazooka's and machine guns, if you like that kind of thing...Knuckles/Rouge levels are totally evil! They include little robots, three emeralds in hard to reach places and a big stage. If you like digging and searching through levels, this is for you. I didn't find the game that hard and my favorite part is the Chao. Chao are cute little alien..things. That you feed, take care of and train to win races and karate. It can get boring after awhile though... Main plot of game: Hero-save the world from Dr.Eggman and Shadow while trying to clear Sonic's name. Dark-Take over world and kill off Sonic and Co. All together, easier on GC than Dreamcast, but the Dreamcast game is still better in many ways.

Still A Platforming Trailblazer?

Let's clear one thing up before I begin: I ain't gonna stop playing Sonic games. I'll always be a fan of the blue blur, no matter what. That's why no matter how blatently corny the product is, I'll still check it out 'cause I still believe that they'll eventually get Sonic right. SA2B is such a product. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great game. But there is definitely some kinks to work out that I'm sure could've brought Sonic out of the so-called box of washed-up mascots.

Story: A slight variation on the story scheme from the first SA, players are allowed to play as the Heroes (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles) and their Dark counterparts (Shadow, Rouge, and for the first time, Dr. Robotnik. The plot is that Robotnik (who is still dubbed as Eggman; c'mon Japan!) breaks into a military stronghold to unleash a top secret weapon his grandfather was working on. Turns out the weapon is a diminitive black hedgehog named Shadow, claiming to be the ultimate lifeform. In return for releasing him, Shadow will grant Eggman a wish based on his intentions, which are (what else)to CONQUER THE WORLD! The two split, with Shadow requesting Chaos Emeralds and to meet the Dr. on the Space Colony ARK. Hmmmmm...first a flood of "biblical proportions" in Sonic Adventure 1, then a space colony named ARK. Anyway, the military is on hot pursuit, and they end up capturing Sonic by mistake. Waaaait a second.....isn't Sonic blue and Shadow is black with red stripes? Either the soldiers are stupid or colorblind. Either way, in Story Mode on the Hero side, you play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as they struggle to save the planet from Robotnik's nefarious scheme and clear Sonic's name in the process. On the Dark side (no Star Wars jokes, please!!), you get Shadow, Robotnik, and Rouge the Bat who try to be evil, naturally. The story is actually pretty good, even though the script and the cutscenes could've done a better job of telling it.

Gameplay: SA2B is more diverse than one would expect, yet it's also a mixed bag on how they turn out. There are three sets of characters found on both sides, which represent how their respective levels will be. Sonic and Shadow are the speed-demons, racing through a visually-dazzling rollercoaster in each stage they are presented. You must get to the Goal Ring, but it's one nausea-inducing thrillfest to get there: bashing robots, grinding on rails, and swinging on poles. City Escape, the first and probably one of the best levels, represents this perfectly as Sonic is careening down a busy streetlane on a snowboard, knocking cars in the air (WTF?) and performing high-flying tricks all before you land on your feet. All at high speed and a liquid framerate. Tails and the bad Dr. have the "shoot'em up w/mechs" styled levels, using "walkers" to tread through levels. Definitely not as fast, or as hard, as the racing levels. It's just mindless blasting platform action. Moving on to Knuckles and Rouge, the treasure hunters. You must find pieces of the master emerald (again) using clues, digging, flipping switches, gliding, the whole nine yards. The multi-tiered stages are much bigger than SA1, which makes the pace a biiiit slower. Nevertheless, there's variety to spare, with mini-games ranging from go-karting to Chao raising. Yeah, I know....they're back. More on that in a second, but don't expect Mario Kart(TO BE CONTINUED)

To start, kudos to Sega for an excellent game. Sonic games never were a big deal with me, but this game prooved me wrong! When I rate game systems, Sega usually was on the bottom of the list. When I bought this game, it moved up quite a bit! I love the game's split story line, allowing you to play as both Dark Characters, and Hero Characters. My favorite feature is the Chao Gardens. There are three gardens where you raise your Chao. All the Chao are different, and I just love it! I know this probably was a bad review, but I'm telling you, this game is a must have in any collector's selection of games!

The Best Game Ever!!!!!!!!
