Sonic A2B is a mediocre game, plain and simple.

I wish that Sega would get it throught there heads. Sonic is not a 3-d game. I loved it back when it was a classic 16-bit Genisis game. If they could make a 2-d sonic with Gamecube quality graphics, it would rock. Oh, and take out that chao garbage. It is not fun. In fact that is what gave the game a 2/5 instead of a 3/5. Get sonic for the Gameboy. That is a truly fun experiance.

...if you haven't played this game for GCN you have to get this game. First of all the graphics are like the characters are about to jump out of the screen! The sound is good and the voices of the characters are so incredible. There are all new characters like Metal Sonic and Amy. I could go on about the characters, but I don't want to tell you people to much. There is extended multiplayer with all new multiplayer levels. On single player you can play on the "Hero" or "Dark" side of the team. You have to finish both "hero" and "Dark" to beat the game. But after you beat the game you have to play one last level and it is FRIEKEN HARD. And about the bosses. There alot harder than on the regular Sonic Adventure 2. This game will take you about 12 hours if you play through the whole thin and don't stop. Overall here is the lowdown.

Falls short of a classic

What always made Sonic the hedgehog a great game seems to be lost in the transition to 3-D. The bottom line is Sonic was a platforming game that had you racing through incredible maze-like levels. It wasn't an Easter egg hunt. (Knuckles and Rouge levels) Nor was it a poorly made shooting game. (Tails and Robotnik levels) However Sega thought this is what fans needed so they tried to implement these concepts into the game. What we get is a game that is only a third of the classic Sonic. Take that and throw in some very nasty camera angles and you get Sonic Adventure 2 battle.
The one player story mode is fun the first time through, but after conquering it you'll find no desire to replay it.
The the new "battle" theme for Gamecube is supposed to represent the added multiplayer modes. Yet Sega manages to make these a bore too.
The only thing that attempts to pick up the game is the Chaos Garden pets. These little guys are a lot of fun and good idea, however if you wish to raise them further you'll find yourself repeating the same agonizingly dull levels as before.
Bottom line: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a good rental, but a bad buy. Don't do what i did.

For months, Game Cube has taken a beating under presumptions that it is childish and uncool, and from some aspects this is true (refering to the extremely disapointing previews for Zelda), but it now can defend itself with one of the best possible games to shove in Microsoft and Sony's faces...SONIC!
An incredible comeback for our blue hero (though not anywhere close to rivaling his glory days on the Genisus) after a painful crash and burn on the Dreamcast. Good graphics, capturing the hedgehog in all his coolness, without loosing his pre-anime appearence. All the classic characters, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Dr. Robotnik (now called Dr. Eggman, dunno why...), plus, two new appearences by Shadow the Hedgehog (my fav), and Rouge the Bat, each pair of characters has their own style of gameplay for their own levels. AND in 2p mode, there is a total of 12 playable characters! Playing the game takes you throught 2 parallel, but different storylines (Hero and Dark). And if you can get through them both you can... what? you think im going to tell you?? :D Also, throughout the game there are new character-enhancing Level Up items, and some brand-spanking-new techniques!
Plus a handfull of mini-games and chao raising for all you kiddies. Now for the bad news: Camera Angles: pretty bad. there are some that are there that look really cool, but can be a hassle (spelling??). Soundtrack: in total, is ok, but has really, REALLY bad points (especially Knuckles' stages). Storyline(s): TOO SHORT!! and thats all that's bad about it. So now what I want you to do is scroll back up the page, and click the purchase button. If it makes you feel better, click it a couple times, just make sure you GET THIS GAME.

with this being sega's big product no wonder dreamcast failed. don't get me wrong, i loved the original sonic games, but this one is just awful. the music is horrible. just imagine some cheesy 80's wanna be rock like winger....i am very mad that i didn't listen to others and rent it first. no wonder so many are being sold on ebay.....BEWARE OF THIS GAME! wait for the new mario game to come out if you like these types of games...

I'm a true Sonic the Hedgehog fan who's been there since the beginning and even though I have not played this game, I can tell you anything Sonic is worth it.

This is the worst game I have ever played. I thought it would be good since I liked the game when it was on genesis years ago, but it is a big disappointment. The music is not what I have expected it to be, and the camera angles really got me mad. It is hard to figure out what direction you are going because the screan is just spinning. My advice for you is to waste your money renting it so you can see for yourself that it was the worst game ever. I would give it a zero but i cant select it, so i gave it a one.

Despite all the review hoopla over this item, "Sonic Adventure 2 Battle" comes up short considering the legacy it has inherited: the zany fantasy world of the Sega Genesis original has left its mark here with but only the main character, Sonic, who now has been reduced to but one of many in a half-hearted storyline.
True: the graphics are have technically advanced. But gone is the side-scroller speed, quirky soundtrack (replaced with modern punk music), to-the-point objectives (too much puzzle solving slows the game down), and above all, effortless fun that the old "Sonic" was made famous for. One would be better satisfied to simply dig up an old Genesis console and "Sonic the Hedgehog" cartrige than play this uncreative 3-D version.

This game is Fun for A little while but you really don`t have to be very good to beat it. some of the levels you look for jewels and those ones are pretty fun but other than that the game is boring.Overall it would be fun for kids 10 and under.
