excellent game

Has great graphics, better gameplay than some RE games before it, and I definitely loved the music. This is the only game I've been able to play again and again and haven't tired of it yet.

Overrated, but still pretty good.

Like the title says, this game is very overrated. Winning lot's of awards and such, and being held 'the best Resident Evil ever' I highly disagree. Yes, compared to the previous releases, this game is much more fast paced, but game of the year worthy? Not really.

Gameplay: Very fast paced, you shouldn't be stuck in any areas, the puzzles are too simple to be considered 'mind numbing' And you visit most areas of the game only once. Backtracking has always been a staple in the previous games.

Storyline: This is probably 4's weakest area. The storyline is much too James Bondish, and or not Resident Evilish. Apperantly the people who title this a great story, have not played any of the other titles. The plotline is almost embarassingly simple. Almost no twist, or changes. Kind of a letdown.

Graphics: A lot of people disagree, but I think the graphics are better in RE0, and the Remake. The graphics in this release almost look 'cartoonish' The color's could've been done better.

Music: Meh, some songs are really good, but most songs don't stick with you. I think the ending credits theme titled 'Sorrow' is very beautiful, in the Resident Evil sense of course.

Controls: Very good. The same as the previous Gamecube releases. Shouldn't take long at all to adapt.

In a way, I sometimes wish this game flopped, just so Capcom wouldn't stick with making the same game over and over. The previous games always had variety from one another, but Capcom decided to make RE4 the new base of all future titles. This will most definitely appeal to most, but for people who've been into the series since the late 90's 'like me' find this to be a very dumb decision. But hey, aren't all company's about 'milking' what wins?

More about the actual game. The enemies are, well, definitely not possible. What in the heck spawned El Gigante? Who of which looks like a troll from LOTR 'yuck' Most enemies in the previous games had similarities to their non-infected counterparts. This game is very weak in the way of telling you what caused such mutations. And Ashley Graham? Lets just say you'll stop bashing Sherry after you play a while with that busty blonde. This game

is worth getting if you want a long, challenging game. But if you're familier with the older titles, do not expect this to be anything that made the other games so great. Good luck.

An amazing game that revolutionizes both the Resident Evil series and the survival horror genre.

Nearly everyone who has played Resident Evil 4 will tell you at the very least that it was a welcome change to the survival horror genre. While some may not agree with the Game of the Year title, most will at least agree that the game is great, and a much needed step forward.

The graphics are extraordinary. It pushes the Gamecube to its limits. I'd go as far to say that it can hold its own against most console games around today. As far as it pushes the Gamecube, it still holds a solid frame rate throughout the game. The art design is well done, very dark and gloomy with some extremely gory moments.

The sound is awesome. Its high quality, and very creepy. All of the action sounds crisp, and I personally think that the gunshots sound exceptional. The sound alone can scare you, there's no real need for the insane Portuguese people, well okay, maybe there is.

The game play is where this game really shines. Its the awesome survival horror game play we all know and love, but revolutionized. There's an all new over the shoulder camera angle that is a huge improvement over the old traditional ones. The game controls perfect, and in combination with the new camera angle it makes the game amazingly fun. There's also the integration of action sequenced cut scenes and the almighty chainsaw. The storyline is a good length, and will keep you entertained for a while.

Lets face it here folks, even if you're a Gamecube hater, this game deserved Game of the Year. Plus, I don't what people are complaining about as the game is now also available on Playstation 2 and Wii. If you're a fan of survival horror, you will probably love this game.

Frankly, after having been severely underwhelmed playing R.E. 3 through on the PS1 years ago, I was having a hard time buying into the hype for this game. But...it's true: this has to be one of the greatest video games ever. Even though I don't game that much anymore and never cared for the survival/horror genre, this game is unbelievable; it's perfectly balanced, fun, beautifully rendered, scary, inventive, all the superlatives--one of the most satisfying wastes of my time ever. I'm glad to see that it made it over to the PS2 and then over to the Wii. It's strange that despite having such a played-out plot (saving a damsel in distress from Spanish quasi-zombies) this game will certainly stand the test of time and be top-ranked for ages. Buy it. And if you only have a newer PS3 or XBOX/360, hit ebay up for a system that supports it.

This game is so scary. Sometimes I say to myself it's just a game. The most memorable moments in the game is when you head towards the house and you have to block all the doors and windows with bookshelf and tables. and then the zombies come in. Man was that freaky! I hope Resident Evil 5 is good. But for now this was a great game that everyone who still has a gamecube should pick up.

I can't stop playing!

This is the best game I have ever played. Hands down the most fun. A bit scary at times. Challenging, but not to the point of being so hard that it is more frustrating than fun. I am a huge fan of Metroid, and have beat/finished them all. This game, for me, is more fun to play. The weapons are great. The puzzles are challenging. All around great game. I am on my 4th reply. It is that good! P.S. The story line is very good. It's like being in a movie!

Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo GameCube is a masterpiece of a game that has gotten MASSIVE critical acclaim. If you're a fan of the previous RE titles, this will be different that what you're used to. While still technically a survival horror game, it is now also part action third-person shooter, with adventure elements. The game also uses the over-the-shoulder camera method, and you can aim with a laser pointer in all directions, as opposed to just up and down in the previous games in the series. Another huge change are the main enemies. The RE series has been known for fighting zombies, but they are not in this game. Instead, you fight Los Ganados (The Cattle), which are regular Spaniards that haave been corrupted and controlled by a parasite called Las Plagas (The Plague). They are much smarter and tougher than the previous zombies.

Story is simple, you are Leon Scott Kennedy 10 years after the events of RE 2. The President's daughter has been kidnapped in Spain, and you are sent to save her.

When it comes to the GC, graphics don't get much better than this. I feel it even looks as good as some games in the current seventh-generation.

Gameplay wise, this game is simply fantastic. As I said before, this is more of a third-person shooter than its predecessors, but it transits very well.

This game has high replay value, as well. If you beat the game, you can start a new file with the same weapons, upgrades, ammo, money, and health as you were in the last game. You can also buy weapons like the Infinite Launcher, which obviously has an endless supply of rocket launcher missiles, and the Chicago Typewriter, an extremely fun to use weapon with infinite ammo. I've beaten the game 3 times, and I'm still going.

I'd say the challenge level is medium/above average. The enemy known as th Regenerator (possibly the most well-known enemy in the game, and also the closet to zombies this game gets to) is onl able to be killed by shooting leech-shaped Plagas while using an infrared scope on a rifle. They also have deep, sickly breathing that is sure to make you at least say "WTF is that?" when you first see it.

Overall, Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror masterpiece, definitely recommended for those who like action games. RE purists might not like the style, but it's still worth playing.

One of the best games I've ever played

I have always enjoyed the Resident Evil games, and the controls haven't really bothered me that much. This game, however, surpasses all of the previous RE games. I really can't imagine the controls being any easier, and the graphics are amazing. The best part, as it should be, is the gameplay. The "bad guys" are pretty smart, and very creepy. The first chainsaw dude that appeared in the game scared the heebie-jeebies out of me! The story was good, and the game kept me interested all the way through till the end. I recommend this game to everyone, even those who don't really care for horror games (but can stand the blood!).

Easily the Best GC Title!

Well, this is my THIRD review for Resident Evil 4. (First on the Wii, then on the PS2, and now finally on the Gamecube.) I must say, this version holds it's own AMAZINGLY well. The graphics are better than the PS2 version, and the controls are a LOT easier than the Wii version. Even despite the console differences, this game manages to holds it's own better than any other game I've played. RE4 will go down in history as the scariest, most addictive, most absolutely memorable game of all time... (along with the Halo Series, the Mario Series, the Tony Hawk Series etc.......) If you have a Game Cube this is a game you won't want to miss.

The best game for Gamecube...Period.

No other game comes close. Even friends of mine who were not fans of the Resident Evil genre, went out and bought this one. The story line is good, the graphics top notch, and the playability are all here.
