The Resident Evil series is reborn!

RE4 is the most exciting game I have ever played. The characters are easy to control and the story is fascinating. Even after you beat it, you'll want to keep playing because the bonus games are just as fun -- if not more fun -- than the game itself. This is what they call a "killer app." It's so good that it's worth buying a GameCube just to play this game.

Excellant! Compared to other games.

I have played many games thoroughout my life. Nurmourous Final Fantasy realeases, traveling through the wonderful world of Magic Crafter's/Beast Makers, etc in Spyro; The Dragon on Playstation; to the wonderful world of Hyrule with Link in: Ocarina of Time on the N64.

Now ever since the Gamecube had come out, I had explored new games and new horizons in the gaming/entertainment world. Spyro immediantly went downhill with it's releases of Enter the Dragonfly/Hero's Tail/ and the (somewhat fun but too short and chessy) A New Beggining. Spyro, the cool purple dragon we used to know in Ripto's Rage and The Year of the Dragon had died.

While the newest release of: The Legend of Zelda is fun, but doesn't pack that extra punch that Ocarina held. Yes, it was enjoyable. While riding Epona and slashing with a sword then just the old fairie bow made killing enemies fantastic and brilliantly enjoyable, the bosses were far too easy and the game was boring from one part to another. Link seemed a little cheesy, and it just wasn't the same Hyrule we had grown up with in older T.L.O.Z releases.

Then there was Soul Calibur II, Hitman II, and more that were fun (also the remastered Super Smash Brothers Melee) were nice. But they just weren't the same, something was missing.

I had just picked up Resident Evil 4 a week ago, and couldn't stop playing it ever since. While Twilight Princess was agonizing and boring at parts, having to run around in no-enemy zones, you were constantly kept on your toes to shoot down enemies with the gun-with-nifty-laser, blowing guts, blood, and gore everywhere. The game has kept me playing.

While with Hitman II you have to use the stick to constantly move him about, turning him left and right to fix the angle of the screen while shooting down enemies, and picking up consoles, ammo, etc. The game was nice, but having to sneakly come up from behind an annoying person and strangle them silently and drag them into a hidden location just got tiring after a while, plus if you were discovered you were pretty much screwed...

But Resident Evil 4 you can freely move about while blasting enimies away with a shotgun, dodging D.NO.MITE, knocking down ladders and commanding Ashley to hide in a dumster while Leon goes ahead and clears the shrounding area of any danger, never get's tiring for me. The nice laser aiming makes it easier to bring down enemies, while in earlier games you had to blindly shoot and hope not to miss. You have to pretty much kill ever enemy you come up against, to claim more ammo, herbs, and money. You no longer freely find weapons lying about to extend your're weapon supply, you now have to buy them from a vieled merchant, whom shows up in frequent parts of the game. And while everbody may say that Ashley get's annoying protecting after a while, I found it easy to keep her safe while Leon kills away with a Riffle or Handgun.

Later on you get out of the gloomy forest into the castle area, where you constantly face creepy followers of the strange religion of Straddeler. The only thing that get's boring is having Ashley one minute, then having her suddenly swept away by a monster or getting locked in a trap, to going through long areas that seem to be never ending, facing nermourous bosses, etc... There seems to be no end in sight, and that's what pretty much sums up the entire game.

The game is probably the longest I've ever played, but the graphics are astounding and the role playing is fantastic! Leon's cool American voice to Luis's Sera's Spaniard heart-melting accent really catches the ear. Ashley also has a great voice, but it can get annoying when she's screaming for Leon's help. The bad guys, especially the chanting: "Mony es-o dee, Mony es-o dee" will get stuck in your head when you venture into the castle and face the religious freaks of Saddler's dream.

Overall, the game is fun and I'm rather enjoying it! Leon has got to be the coolest character I've played yet on any game console. So if you haven't yet played Resident Evil 4, and had just went out and picked up a Wii, do so now, and get the updated, more action packed version! You will have a 'Hell', of a time!

I got this game at the wrong time

What I mean is, I got this game the Friday of dead week, which is the week right before finals, and that was reflected in how poorly I did on my finals. I played this game almost every waking moment after I got it, it was so awesome. I beat it twice in two weeks, which is the fastest I've ever beaten the same game multiple times.

The action in the game is awesome, the graphics are nice, the feel is good, and the replay value is top notch. I haven't gone through it a third time yet, although I've started a third game, mostly because I wanna have some varitey, and play something else. I'll probably pick the game back up later this summer, and continue the head-shooting, as opposed to butt-kicking.

A master piece!

Resident Evil 4, simply one of the best video games ever created. I didn't want to buy this game at first because I thought it was going to be really hard to play it. But after watching some videos about this game, I decided to give it a shot. I was amazed to see how well this game was made. The graphics are different from what I have seen before, and the gameplay is totally different. This is not a horror game, but an action game. You even think that you can enjoy and relax in the cutscenes, but most of the time you have to dodge many attacks while watching these cutscenes or you're toast. The game cube version doesn't have the ps2 extras, but the graphics are the best. You can play this game for hours and never get bored. This game has been well designed. If you watch all of the cutscenes, you can beat this game in over 13 hours or so. I strongly recommend you to buy this game, you won't get disappointed.

Yes, if you read all the other reviews, I only have a few things to add. Yes, it sucks that you can't run and shoot. Think of it this way: if you run and shoot, you won't be aiming straight. I have something to fix this: during aiming, if getting rushed, hit down+B to do a 180, run a little, do another 180, and attack. Besides this, a fun game, especially with the Handcannon with Max upgrades (Take THAT you chainsaw pysco!).

Worth 10 times it's weight in gold.

Every once in a long while, a game that defines all those to proceed comes out. During the previous console session that game was Resident Evil 4.

Since purchasing it about a year and a half ago there has never been a period longer than a few days when it has left the confines of my Gamecube (and now my Wii)...it is THAT good.

Graphics, Storyline, Gameplay, and Sound...this game has it all in a cumulation that will entertain and scare the hell out of you for years to come.

Move over FFVII and Ocarina of Time, Leon S. Kennedy is here to stay.

Amazing....

The game is amazing. Period. This game is the best game i have ever played. And if you dont have a lot of time to play a game, make time for this game. It will blow your socks off. Never before has gameplay seem so real to me. It was like the whole time, you were trailing right behind Leon on his pursuit to save the president Daughter.

The game is really solid. There is no loading time, and you can just keep playing, and playing, and playing, and you get the idea. The only bad part of the game is trying to find a time to play this. It's really time consuming. Make sure you are going to have time for it becaause you are going to want to try and beat it in one sitting, but u just cant unless you know what you are doing. But anyways, I strongly urge everyone to try this game, but make sure you have the time.

I've owned this game since the day it came out, and the first time i popped it in i was simply amazed. Unlike most of the Resident Evil Games I've Played, I don't think i've ever had a time where i lost interest. Sure, they give you some spots to catch your breath, but right after your little break is done if throws at you another blood thirsty heard of villagers.

The controls: eh. They could have had a little tweak here and there, but besides that they were above average. The fact that you could reload in real time was a great improvement, but it would have been nice if they kept the original reload option to (i.e. your in a middle of a battle, and when you go to switch weapons its reloaded, instead of getting the thought*wow i should have reloaded*)

Graphics: WOW, enough said

Gameplay: I think ive gotten the point across, its pretty amazing

Sound: AMAZING, it can get a little creepy sometimes (regenerators give you nightmares)

MUST BUY, ITS $20!!!! THATS $40 LESS THAN WHAT I HAD TO PAY

get it now, do yourself a favor and pass on those little extras that came with the PS2 version and give yourself the full graphics quality only the G-Cube can give.

A very intense game with great graphics and story. Lots of action and very fun to play. Long game play makes this game worth the money.

The best game ever made.

I've been playing video games since the sega/nintendo days. I own a DS, a Gamecube, a Wii, an N64, an Xbox, and a 360. I have played hundreds of games in my life. RE4 is simply the best game I have ever played in my life. Better than Super Mario 64, better than Ocarina of Time, better than Ninja Gaiden, better than Super Metroid, wayyy better than Halo. Go pick up a Wii, or a Gamecube. Then buy this game. You will play the game all the way through five times over before you are tired of it.

Everything in the game is done perfectly. Things that most developers stumble over are done so well in this game. This is the first game I've played where you can interact with enemies and the environment so much. It is also the first game I've played where escort missions do not suck. The enemy AI is outstanding, and original. The game is long and challenging enough that you'll play it multiple times. Not much else to say. Just buy it.
