Once again zombies have taken over. But they're not always the slow actioned zombies we've always known among horror franchises. The surprises will kill you. Four survivors alone in a dark demented mansion deep within the bowels of Raccoon City, trapped from the living while survival their only hope. Zombies and a plethora of abominations no human can explain or fathom is unleashed within an unforgiving world of survival horror. What awaits them deeper within the mansion gets even more disturbing...

I've had the honor to play this game before and as usual it left me wanting more. The atmosphere is beautiful in the twisted way Resident Evil titles have always been with extras that the original did not have.

The puzzles have been changed which gives veteran Resident Evil player's something new but also familiarity. The design and graphics are top notch and the suspense of the story is intriguing which leaves you wanting more. Especially unto who Lisa Trevor is...and she wants her mama.

Overall this game is a 5 out of 5 for sound, game play, graphics, and story.

I'm huge fan of resident evil series, I do own all of then for PS/PS2, but there are some versions on game cube not found for playstation, this remake of the first is one of then. I don't have a game cube and just ordered Wii, so I'll finally be able to play Remake of the first and RE zero, and from what I heard RE 2, 3 , VC-X & 4 are basically the same as PS/PS2 versions witch I have. So I'm very excited in playing this game and by the reviews it's awesome. I watched a clip at gamespot.com and I wished they had the same voices as the original, But besides that, the game looks great.

Great Game

This game is amazing. Perhaps one of the few games to ever take advantage of the capabilities of a gamecube. The game is very long itself, and is a great improvement from the original. The dialogue is very good, and there is also added features to this game. There are many new things to this game that most would not expect. Most people think that buying this game would mean playing the very first original Resident Evil only with better graphics. But you are very wrong. The game has new features, and new plots and things to do, which are very different from the original. It is like a whole new game. I would strongly reccomend this game to any one who is a fan or just would like to play a great game.

Everyone knows by know the problems with the imfamous Resident Evil controls. But, if you can look past that, you'll find a very intresting, fun, exciting, challenging adventure game ripe with zombies and other creatures just asking to be killed by you. One of the best additions to this game (and one of the most annoying thanks to the controls) is the fact that zombies don't die until they've been burned to nothingness or you have destroyed the brain. Now, while that is great for people like myself who love zombies and love the added touch as it is more accurate to zombie lore, the controls and the fact that you can't your shots at their head means you're going to be using a lot of kerosine to burn a lot of zombies. (becuase of you don't...watch out.) Other than that minor gripe, you get used to the controls in 20 mintues at most (or already know them since Resident Evil has been around for a while now) and after that, you're in for one enjoying experience. This was actually the first resident evil game I played, so I was completely blown away. Incredible visuals and hanting music along with intelligent enemies makes it very scary. The game puts in the position of cool characters too

The game is still plagued by the prescence of save ribbons, itemboxes, backtracking, and really small inventory space. You may also die a lot. But its all part of the experience of Survival Horror. No matter who you are you should but this game.

Stephen King once wrote of two types of horror. There's the cerebral, subtle horror of things like the Twilight Zone, and then there's the gross-out factor, the gore-fest, the glee of splattered blood and rotting corpses.

Make no mistake, "Resident Evil" is firmly horror of this second type, and it pulls no punches in its attempt to spill as much blood as possible. Particularly this Gamecube re-make of the classic game, in which the graphics and the sound effects have been lovingly re-rendered to highlight each and every grisly detail.

To be honest, the original "Resident Evil" games never really captured my attention before. The graphics seemed choppy, the storylines cheesy, and the sound effects overdone. This version for Gamecube, however, has turned all of that around, and the game is better for it.

The graphics are probably what did it for me most of all. Wonderfully moody and evocative lighting effects, dramatic camera angles, lush moving backgrounds, and of course, brutally gory splatter effects abound. I spent a great deal of my first run through the game just stopping and marvelling at the sheer graphic beauty of it. From the dust puffing up under your character's feet as she (or he) runs, to the wind blowing through the grass and trees outside, to the realistic reaction of a water puddle as you splash through it, to the shifting shadows thrown by a swaying chandelier...there's eye candy everywhere in this game. And, of course, we get to see the cracked skin and bloody lips of the zombies which lurch after you, the decaying flesh of undead dogs as they chase you down a hallway, and the bright flash of fire as a corpse is immolated in purifying flame. Put simply, the graphics of the new "Resident Evil" are one of the best features of the game, and I challenge anyone to not be impressed by them.

Other aspects of the game have definitely improved as well. Sound is used far more effectively for the game, and the storyline seems to have been cleaned up quite a bit as well. In the game, you get to play as one of two S.T.A.R.S. operatives: Jill Valentine (a fan favorite) or Chris Redfield. Their missions are mostly the same, but the details of the story are subtly different, with different characters weaving in and out of their quest through the mansion and its environs. Gameplay, in terms of controlling the characters, is still a little more clunky than other similar games, but once you get used to it it's quite adaptable.

One of the good things about "Resident Evil" is that it's not a simple shoot 'em up game. If you shoot everything you see early on, you'll quickly run out of ammunition and you won't last long enough to get to the really good stuff. No, the trick here is to conserve ammunition whenever possible, and if you don't like what you see...RUN. Trust me, you'll be doing a lot of that if you expect to survive. Strategy and thinking ahead are key. You'll have plenty of chance to blast away at things as the game progresses, believe me.

The game definitely has some replay value as well, as new modes, weapons, and costumes are introduced as you finish the game the first couple times. Real Survival mode is tricky, and Invisible Enemy mode (yes, you read that right) has to be played to be believed. And, I must admit, getting to see Jill Valentine in her camouflage pants and army-green tank top is worth the effort of a replay in itself. Something about a girl in uniform...

There are some games in the survival-horror genre I love for their ability to set a mood and stick with it, such as the "Silent Hill" series. These are amazing games, and come highly recommended for good reason. The Gamecube version of "Resident Evil" also comes highly recommended, but for a completely different reason: "Resident Evil" is just pure, evil fun. I lost count of the times I caught myself grimacing and laughing at the same time as I discovered some new and surprising way to take out the undead creatures attacking me. The first time you're blasting away at a zombie in front of you while the one behind you tries to swallow your Flash Grenade and gets his head blown off for his trouble, you'll see what I mean.

Even if you've played previous versions of "Resident Evil" and enjoyed them, there's more fun to be had with this one. Turn the lights out, lock the doors, get your shotgun ready and prepare to kick it when it comes at you. This one goes straight for the jugular.

The Most Realistic Game Ever Created

I have seen almost every game on the marketr by demo or by owning it. I have seen all the major hit sellers and all the block buster hits that sell millions but when I found this I realized that this is the best game of them all. The game is so realistic that you wont be able to tell the diffrence between cut scene and actual gameplay. The games controls people complain about alot why? they just need something to complain about thats it. People find stupid reasons to make something perfect sound horrible. Well if you learn the controls after about 10 minutes you can fly through this game. The game will scare the hell out of you. I had about 15 friends come over and 4 of us did bets alone in the room you can't last till the snake alone. No one did it. This game made everyone of my friends buy a Gamecube which is now are favorite system because of this. Before this was Halo which is yes excellent but when you see this you will change your mind without any doubt. Resident Evil is just the kick a$$ game of them all. You will never look at gaming again. If a gaming company takes their time on a game it will sell well on the Gamecube Capcom obviously did this. I reccomend this game above any other game out their. Buy a Gamecube and Resident Evil with it, also buy Resident Evil 0 and play that first because that actually takes place 1 day before the incident in the mansion which is the game im reviewing right now Resident Evil. Resident Evil cannot be beat.

This is a wonderful remake of the PlayStation original. Sound and graphics are great! Also, Capcom changed the game enough to give a fresh feeling yet kept all the old elements that made the original so good.

this game is worth $20. The game has very good graphics, the sounds are very realistic, the story line is terrific, and the puzzles are fun to do. Killing zombies and the bosses is really fun. You would sometimes build up your adrenaline when something pops out of the window or door. This game should be editors choice
