A great adaptation of the first game. Adds to the legacy and fully utilizes the Gamecube. Both a great game for new players and old. The graphics are outstanding, and even though I played it many times before on PSone it still was very scary. Some of the new additions worked. The new zombies were cool, and so was the new layout. The new boss was o.k. and seemed to be tacked on. Still the best game I have played for GC cannot wait for RE Zero.

This Resident Evil is by far the scariest one yet. On Gamecube the game has incredible graphics making this game really scary. The zombies and zombie dogs look really realistic. Even when your least expect it, it happens. This game is REALLY long. It has 2 disks. This game is comple with storyline and lots of horror.
Horrifying!

Resident Evil definitely pulls off what it is meant to do: scare you out of your seat. Every corner oozes suspense, every moving shadow makes you gasp. It doesn't hurt that Resident Evil has the best graphics in any game to date and holds a reputation for creating the survival-horror genre. The story, while fairly simple, is completely overshadowed by the action inside the decrepit mansion hidden in the woods. When your STARS Force is sent out to investigate some grisly murders, you are attacked and chased inside the mansion by a group of zombie dogs (sounds kinda corney, but believe me its really creepy). In the mansion, fully rendered 2D backdrops sent a haunting atmosphere--believe me, its so scary you have to puase it every ten minutes and let your heart rate return to normal. It has all the makings of a big-budget Hollywood monster flick and in some ways is even scarier as you are forced to control the action. There is nothing like the horror when you suddenly realize a zombie stumbling towards you from the darkness. But action fans, don't be dissapointed. Resident Evil has enough gore and violence to go around. Prime example: its even more fun using the shotgun to blow the zombie's head clean off his shoulders just for creeping up behind you. Resident Evil will keep you enchanted from beginning to end. Just remember to have your shotgun loaded when you round that next corner.
10 STARS out of 5!!!

I ordered a Nintendo GameCube game on Friday, 09/13/2002. It was in my mailbox on Monday 09/16/2002. The game was in the original packaging with manual, and looked like it had never been used. No scratches etc. on the cd's. Excellent price also!I will definitely look for additional items from this seller in the future.
Just short of being a Great Videogame

While I had a great time with this game, it seemed to end much sooner than I had expected, I guess I'd assumed it was something more epic. Moving through doors soooooooo S L O W L Y can be beyond tiresome and you'll want to stop playing, I hoped they finally fixed that for the GC version, but no. Add to that the backtracking. LISTEN, loading, searching, mazes, many enemies, lack of items/storage space and backtracking DO NOT GO TOGETHER! The mansion environment is gorgeous and the backgrounds help the mood so much. The character models...look bad, just weak graphically, too beautiful -- if there was a solumn, creepy old man with dark eyes, instead of a cool, relaxed dude with sunglasses, it would have helped the mood a lot. I actually, would love to play the game as an older man who may have lived there for some years (as long as he doesn't need a cane!). No, it's not 'scary', but it has mood and tension, enjoyable, while sometimes tedious difficulty. I wish there was the option, to have the zombies appear in different, unexpected places each time you play the game, to keep things fresh and new, or to have the Mansion rooms rearranged, with items in new places. Some Special Modes are difficult to earn in enough time - and it takes 5 hours minimum just to try. I wish there were better Special Modes that were a little more forgiving to earn. The ending is a unsatisfactory, things are left completely unanswered, CAPCOM must tie up all the sub-plots cohesively (and interestingly) in the next game or people just won't care anymore. I realized after finishing that this formula could continue forever, you'd feel you'd gotten nowhere and the gamemakers must consider the plot irrelevant (and that could have been a huge selling-point for the game). The gameplay becomes a little mathematical and dry towards the end. Getting keys and doing unlikely puzzles is the nature of it, and you are often lost in a maze. The puzzles should be more sensical. I don't need online in the next game, possibly multiplayer, a change from pre-rendered backgrounds would be nice (which was done in RE: Code Veronica) but only to ditch the door loading if they can make graphics like the backgrounds look (Silent Hill 2 was able to put a lot of detail into the bathrooms so the game shouldn't have to look as cutesy as CV did). I wonder where the next RE should take place -- maybe outside, in the city environment. There's a lot of fun here, worth buying, but you must enjoy it on it's own narrow terms.
You'll pee your pants when you play this game!!!

This is basically a remodeled remake of the classic game, it's in my opinion probably outdoes the original in every way. There are new areas to explore including a new foe that you run into, it's got new stuff including different kind of Zombies.
The graphics are realistic and phenonenal, this game is guaranteed to scare the pants and underroos off of anyone who plays this game, highly recommended for those who own a gamecube but not for light sleepers.
The best

OK, let me be totally honest. If you don't like scary situations then don't buy this game, because it is the scariest game I've ever played ( and I've played them all over the last seventeen years since NES came out). The GameCube does thing I never thought could be done before not only in terms of graphics and music, but also in terms of drawing you in and scaring the living daylights out of you. My only gripe is that the game is very tough and most people will have trouble beating it without the strategy guide in under twenty hours (but that could also be looked upon as a good thing). Anyway, if you are a mature player who likes to be scared so badly that you'll have nightmares while playing an unbelievable game then buy RE. Thee's not way you could ever regret it!
