At first, I hated this game from the start. I was on the verge of trading the game in. Then I decided to play it again. It was so much fun, that I'm glad I didn't give it away. If you have the guide, it's kind of a lot to do in one day. It gives you a list of things to do in one day, which is a lot. However, I am stuck on one level, where the guide makes it look like a piece of cake. I would not recommend buying the guide, I would just play it!

Our family owns four different game consoles, including the Cube and the Box. Overall, I was disappointed with the relatively poor selection of games for the Gamecube, but Pikmin alone has made the purchase worthwhile. The skills one can learn here are amazing: The player controls up to a hundred creatures (management) and get them to work as a team to build the spaceship (teambuilding, goalsetting, delegation) back to shipshape. In the process you have to send the creatures into harm's way. You have enough emotional attachment so that losing the creatures is upsetting, much like in real life. I love this game, and Pikmin2 is just as great of a story, with better control. Awesome games, I recommend both. As mentioned, these two games are reason enough to own a gamecube.

Alright, first off the bat: don't judge this game by how it looks. Give the title a chance, play a while and then you'll know the true power of this game. The game is highly addictive and I'm almost positive anyony (of any age) can enjoy this game. The graphics are utterly stunning with meticulous detail to the backround. The game control is simple and easy for anyone to learn. Basically, you are a man named Captain Orima that crash landed on a planet and you are trying to find about 30 pieces to your ship with the help of these Pikmim. The game is great and I just ask all the stereotypical type people out there to give it a chance when it releases December 3rd.

Pikmin delivers an experience that other video games can't.
You're captain Olimar, an astronaut stranded on an alien planet with only 30 days of breathable air. After you examine your wreackage, you befreind Pikmin (small, flowerlike creatures). Despite their cartoonish exterior, Pikmin will fight, labor, and even be eaten in their constant attempt to help you get off the planet. You control only captain Olimar, but the gameplay itself makes it seem as though you're controling the Pikmin as well. Pikmin has won several awards including most innovative title. The drawbacks - more experienced players may find it too easy, you're working with a time limit each in-game day, and the game itself can easily be beaten within a few hours. Still, Pikmin can be frustrating fun and the replay value makes up for a short storyline.

This game is the best. It has great graphics, sound and gameplay. Even though it may seem a little short for the vivid gamer, it's still worth the buy. You have 30 days to collect 30 rocket parts that got scattered all over the planet when Olimar crashed. For the not-so-good gamer, it may seem frustrating because you have a "time limit" each day, and you have to repeat the day if you didn't get the rocket part for the day. But anyway, it's definitely worth playing the game. I had great fun, and if you buy the game, then you will too.
Great Game!

When you start the game it's tough, but, it gets really fun. It's also very challenging. I got it on 12/25/01 and I'm only on the second-last level with 12 parts! This game has amazing graphics. It's a very good game!

This is an incredible game dealing with alien life on another planet. The graphics couldn't be better and the game couldn't be more fun. How can you not have fun when you're bossing around things that are half your size? You can throw them around, make them pick things up for you, and even have them pick you up! The game never gets boring because each color Pikmin is different. Some go into water, some go into fire, etc. The most fun part of the game is everyday, when you find a part of your broken-down spaceship, you become so happy. Who knew that your dinner could help save your life on an alien planet? I leave you with one parting thought: IT'S OK TO PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD!
It is fun, but not enough for a regular gamer.

It is a great game. The graphic is great, the animation is awesome, the music and soundFX is very naturalistic, and the level environments are convincing. However, there are only total of four levels, and once you start playing Pikmin you won't believe how easy it is. They should have advance the game into more player options, such as multiplayer (even online!) to go against your opponents. A level design would be a good idea too, to challenge your opponents in passing your designed environment.
But none of this is available in the game. The game is great, but not overwhelming great. Moreover, I am looking forward to the Pikmin 2 (if there is one).
If you want to play Pikmin, I suggest you to rent it instead of buying it. I guaranteed you are able to finish it less than a week.

Very innovative concept. Simple, easy to learn gameplay. So cute you want to cry every time one of your little guys die. However, the game is far too short. Anybody that really gets into games will finish this one in a weekend or less of solid playing. All they needed to add was 4 or so more areas and change up the strategies needed to tackle each level and this one would have been p-e-r-f-e-c-t. The games brevity practically begs for a Pikmin II. Hopefully when that one comes out they will make it a little more complex and lengthy.
