Pikmin Review

Pikmin is a game that is mostly organizing and strategy. The game takes no skill really because you just need to push A a lot in order to attack someone with those little guys. This game is very challenging becuase you are timed 30 days and have to do as much as you can in one day. I really suggest this game to anyone who wants a game thats challenging and long. There might be only 5 levels, but you goto to them over and over again to do different things. The controls of this are really simple and comfortable to handle. The game clearly explains the controls a lot so you don't forget. So once again Pikmin is one of the most innovative game out there!

I bought Pikmin for my 8 year old son for Christmas. I find it a really neat game, and so does he. The premise is so unique and charming -- a little astronaut crashes on a planet, and has thirty days to locate the thirty missing pieces to his damaged spaceship. On the planet he discovers little "pikmin" who, he discovers, help him locate the parts, and retrieve them. Pikmin is a great game that looks unbelievable, though the kids will especially love its cartoonish looks. It really shows off the power of the GC, as well as the superior and solid quality of the Nintendo game designers. Actually, the game is fairly complicated, and I bought the official Pikmin book. My son and I will be walkting through some of it, which will be kind of a fun bonding experience. All in all, Pikmin is a great little game, and an example of the superior, solid games that Nintendo has, and why I chose the GC over the XBOX this Christmas.

I was seriously considering getting rid of game cube and picking up one of the other systems, as I did not see any quality game cube specific games out there. Purchasing this game has changed all of that. The hope is that the future of game cube is as promising as the innovation and creativity displayed in this game. I won't go into detail about the game as that was done in many of the other reviews. Suffice it to say, if you're looking for a game that is refreshingly different from all the other video games out there, then this one's for you.

Beyond Fun - gotta get it

I got my gamecube in a bundle, like everyone else. Pikmin was the second game I played of the 3 I bought, and it's so fun I havent' even gotten to the third - SW:Rogue Leader. You know a game is good when you don't play anything else once you touch it. Anyway, the controls are good, the characters are G-rated but their animation really gets to you, the gamepace is great ( 5-10 min 'Days'), and the graphics are wowish. This game will help the Oddworld and Lemmings games define this as-yet-unlabelled genre.

Pikmin is a strategy game which starts the player off as a Spaceman who gets stranded on an alien planet when a meteor hits his spaceship and knocks it apart; sending parts of it all over the place. The player is first presented with a Red Pikmin "Onion" Breeder from which issues a seed for a red Pikmin "soldier". The player must use the soldier to knock down flowers on which grow Pikmin "seed" pellets which he or she can get the soldier to drag back to the onion to be sucked up and then spitted out as new Soldier seedlings. The soldiers can be led around and thrown at various objects to drag or build or attack those objects to manipulate the spaceman's environment in order to eventually get access to and drag back to the proximity of the ship any of the various 30 parts of it which are strewn all over the place around the planet. The different colored Pikmin soldiers have different abilities and attributes which may or may not be obvious from the beginning: The red pikmin soldiers are impervious to fire, the yellow can throw glowing exploding rocks at objects to hurt or destroy them and the blue can enter water areas without drowning. The parts are placed in difficult to access areas which require strategic use of the various pikmin to build, drag or attack various obstacles to clear a path so that they can gain access to and drag them back to the spaceship. The player has a certain amount of time during each day to drag at least one or two parts back to the spaceship after which he or she must gather all his or her pikmin and shoo them back into their specific onions and then go back to his or her spaceship and take off into the air for the night. The player has only thirty of these days to retrieve all thirty parts.

The game itself is fun and amusing enough in my opinion to play more than once but if you're not satisfied with playing the normal game then there's also a "challenge" mode in which you can challenge yourself to grow as many pikmin as you can within the timeframe of a single day in the various environments of the alien planet.

Also the game is for one player only (sorry, no multiplayer in this one...)

This game is one of the best strategic games for gamecube. It is a difficult but fun game and I recommend it to anyone that likes Zelda, Donkey Kong, or Mario because that same person created this game.

Pikmin is one of the first games I got when I bought my gamecube. I only have two negative things to say about this game. Firstly and most important is this: If you don't have a memory card and are not planning on getting one soon then this game would be one to steer away from. The second thing that you should know is that this game is another of the few titles released by Nintendo on the gamecube debut that is almost too cute to be enjoyed by older gamers.

Now to the positive. Pikmin is a very challenging game with good replay value. Like I said, if you have a memory card you could be at this one for a couple weeks solid. Although the challenges are not quite as hard as I might have liked it is interesting and is definately a fresh outlook on an otherwise overused theme. I was afraid that, like the N64, I was going to be bulldozed with title after title of the same game with a few different changes. Pikmin may have proved me wrong.

In retrospect, if I was to start over, Pikmin would not have been my first choice as an older gamer but I would not suggest that you overlook this title more than once. Buy it and you might just be suprised.

I just got Pikmin today and played it for an hour. This game is unbelieveable, a freeform game just got me all excited. In the way you use the pikmin i've only gotten the red kind but I mean they can build bridges out of piles of wood, and knock down trees. I recomend this game to any one who likes freeform.

The game is almost perfect. Pikmin has great graphics, sound and all the other things you like about it. The flaw in the game is that you have 30 days to beat it, and every day is about 12-15 minutes. So you have a few hours to beat the game. Even if you win you can still play the challenge mode, making the game longer.
I think that the game is really good

A very fun, yet chalenging game

I read about this game in magizines and thought it sounded unique, so I went out and bought it. It was definitly worth my money. It is however very, very hard at some points and people should keep that in mind. But overall, this is a great game and will most likely become another Nintendo Classic that will live on for many future generations.
