Don't be a sucker

This is just another carrot to steal your money. Don't buy this game because SOE & Lucas Arts does not value their customers.

I have been with SWG since release and SOE has lied to me, treated me like crap, and taken my money. I'm trying to help you out, don't get involved with them, also if you are a loyal customer like me, quit! SOE does not care about us, it is obvious now, if they cared they would treat us better. Haden Blackman & Jim Ward can both go to a Turkish prison for all I care.

If you don't heed my advice on buying this scam then listen to me on this, just get a monthly subscription. You may enjoy the game for a month, you may enjoy it for 2, but after that you are going to want to quit.

Think twice and read any reviews you can.

Please consider yourself warned before buying this game. As of now all of the original game problems are not being fixed so that the devs can work on the expansion game. What???? Am I really to believe that I should pay another 30-40 dollars on top of my monthly rate when the original required core game is still not working correctly. The combat system is virtually worthless, Jedi's kill all PVP players to earn more points, and content is extremely lacking. Which brings up a point. In the expansion the devs have stated that most of your time will be spent on the ground as opposed to space travel (making money to pay for repairs / upgrades / etc). Well isn't the ground where all the problems and glitches are? I seriously doubt that the new expansion will fix many problems. I really believe it is yet another way to get people to spend more money on empty promises. Be wary of all these 5 star ratings - I have played off and on for almost a year now and can't wait for my 1 year "contract" to expire.I will not be renewing or purchasing the expansion.I have lost faith in the force.

To be fair, this is the only part of SWG that isn't completely bugged...

I would recommend however that you spend your money on a classic like X-Wing VS Tie Fighter for the same (but better) effect. PVP is consensual - so if you'd like you can fly your little Tie Fighter in the middle of a group of X Wings and their lasers won't hurt you unless you want them to. YOu can get most ships that have been seen in the movies, but as Imperial you'll want to complete the "Jedi Starfighter" quest which gives you Anakin's Episode III fighter.

What is fun about that is that it's the best fighter in the game - so Ship building professions cannot build anything that is nearly as good and thus have become worthless... and with the advent of the NGE pushed into an even more minority status.

This expansion is also currently free with the "Starter Kit" that is also available on Amazon... but it's not really worth it.

I'd suggest buying some Chuck Norris movies.

Sheesh, I hope SOE is reading these...

LMFAO!

Those reviews were some of the funniest, Soooo many ppl ripping SOE a new one, no wonder they yanked the link to this posts on the boards. While I wouldn't rate the game a 3 or less, its hard to argue with all the other posts because in essence they are right. When you think about the empty promises, failed fixes and the domination of only a few profs over all the other profs, one really starts to wonder if it makes any sense to buy JTL at first.

No doubt SOE will do something to screw it up and create some huge imbalances but hey, It still looks fun as hell to play and I know I'll be buying it anyway... But I totally agree with what some of the posters said about gross mismanagement. I will definitely be weary of getting involved with any other game that I see "haden blackman" or any other SOE devs involved in. These guys have turned out to be the biggest con artist. Rule of business number 1, give the customer what they want. And if you say you're going to do something... DO IT.

All in all though I do think SWG is good game which allows for immersion and a "Star Warsy" feel. If you liked the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games it should be good as I'm hoping and preying that they took many of their design cues from those classics. Comments about the core SWG game are accurate but at the end of the day the game is definitely worth checking out although its full of imperfections and far from perfect.

Bug Wars Galaxies

I bought the special edition of SWG because I was so looking forward to a Star Wars MMPORG, I mean how could they ruin that? Boring and Buggy sums it up. Although this expansion sounds nice, why expand when the base is broken? They need to fix that, and I can only imagine that this expansion will add more bugs to the already annoyingly large list. I for one am completely fed up with the software industry expecting people to pay to play their beta games... I don't expect it to be perfect, but SWG is just plain bad. Dissapearing houses, disapearing inventory, broken skills, etc... SORRY. NO MORE!

Relive the Days of Xwing Versus Tie Fighter

This Exspansion Promises to relive the Days of Xwing Vs Tie Fighter in a MMORPG Setting. Its a dream come true to us players who enjoyed the Space fighting days.

Current people reviewing have done so in a very immature fashion. They are a Minority in a Game with 500,000 Subscriptions. They feel cheated cause as a minority they arent getting thier way so want to try and do a smear campaign.

This Game is fun. The Devs have Said from day one a big challange will be to make content for yourself too. They always release Publishes each month with new content but some people are whiny and Impatient.

Buy the original and Definetly buy the Exspansion. Its gonna be a Blast and maybe ill see you in space to blast you.

Star Wars Galaxies has been ruined

I've been playing 4 accounts for almost a year. Star Wars was a whole world experience, where one could do more than simply fight. The latest upgrade has ruined the experience for me. They have changed it into a game like all the other MMPORGs out there. I played Star Wars BECAUSE of the differences. Changing Star Wars into a "sci-fi" version of EQ2 or WoW has ruined the enjoyment of the game for me.

Do yourself a favor and play WoW or another game if that's how you want to play. SOE has ignored its core user base with these changes. Four accounts cancelled.

JTL is lots of fun!

Considdering that the CU didn't particularly affect space all that much (just added reticles over everything and smaller groups), I shall focus on JTL itself.

In JTL there are three pilot professions that cost 0 skill points to go into, though you can only be in one pilot profession at a time. They are the Privateer, Alliance Pilot, and Imperial Navy Pilot. Each Prof. gives access to different ships and droid programs. Don't worry, while you can't use other prof.'s ships, you can have them burn disks for you to use other their droid programs, which are extremely helpful in fulfilling your pilot career. There is also the Shipwright Profession, a crafting prof. that's all about making ship parts (including Chassis). This game also gives more of a use for the Droid Engineers as ships can use Nav Computers or Astromechs for droid programs.

You outfit your ship with components that you either loot of of enemies or buy at vendors. I won't go into too much detail on this aspect, but there are ways to make looted items better (just ask your local Shipwright). The trick to outfitting your ship is that you are limited by how much Mass your chassis can hold, and everything has to be balanced around this. It's actually quite fun to try to find the perfect combination of component stats to fit onto your pretty low mass TIE ships (heehee, yup, Imperial here). Anyways, I think it's fun, and if you like starfighter simulations, this one is pretty decent (especially since you can customize your ship's appearance and it's parts loadout).

As a side-note, with the recent Expansion Rage of the Wookiees, they introduce several new ships to pilot, amoung them are Anakin's Jedi Starfighter (Eta-2 Actis Interceptor), the ARC-170, and other interesting bits (Imperial Guard Interceptor, Heavy X-Wing, etc.). Yes, you can only get and use these ships with RotW, because the quests (yes quests) to get them are in Kashyyyk space/on Kashyyyk itself. So, have fun!

Same old, same old once novelty wears off

After spending two weeks playing the beta of JtLS, hoping upon hope that it would somehow save a dying game that I really wanted to succeed, I realized that all I had done was waste two weeks of my time.

I played SWG when it first launched in 2003. I stuck around for a few months, but then cancelled due to sheer boredom. I started up my account again about one month ago in hopes that the new expansion would breathe new life into the game. However, the game mechanics still turn playing into a job. No thanks, I already have one of those, don't need another that I actually have to pay SOE for.

JtLS puts a shiny new face on the same old grind, and once the novelty of flight wears off you're left with the same old thing.

ZzzzzZzzZzzzzzz

I find this expansion great. It is one of the things that was missing from SWG. I recommend it.
