This game should be used as curriculum once video game design becomes a valid academic pursuit at universities alongside film, TV and radio. SImply put, a masterpiece that had me addicted for five days straight. I could not stop thinking about the game even when trying to sleep. In the years to come, this game will be viewed with the same veneration as Super Mario 64 or Nights. THe control issues that some people talk about are a valid yet ultimately insignificant complaint. The layout of the control is logical, and is really the only way the game could ever work. Fans of the FPS genre will take some getting used the idea that this is not an FPS but a First Person Adventure and does not control like an FPS. I personally thought the controls were excellent, better than Halo. THe graphics cause people to stop in their tracks and stare in amazement. THe map system is one of the best I have seen, and the game is truly massive, giving it immense replay value. Buy this game, you wont regret it, if you do I'll buy your copy for you.
p.s. Its worth buying a Gamecube for, this is the Killer App that Nintendo has needed all along.
Samus has nice eyes!

I'm a little odd in my tastes in video games and to tell you the truth I was never a fan of the metroid games before this one. I maybe rented them all but I remember total fustration and pointless button pressing throughout alot of the games. This is a totally fresh new look towards Metroid for any video game player mainly because the game screams the state of the art beauty that is currently integrated in our video game system. The game runs really fast on the game cube. It is a first person shooter but you can morph into a ball known as the morph-ball and sneak into little cracks and enter places you could not normally standing up. The world that Samus (your character) is in is very big and very very complex meaning that the map system is one of the best you will ever see in a video game and the secrets and tasks you must accomplish and unlock throughout all the levels from beginning to end are countless. The one bad thing about this game is the controls and to tell you the truth if you have a game cube system than you will understand what I mean when I say the L and R buttons are two loud clicking hard to press buttons that you have to rely on to lock and shoot perfectly and pace all at the same time....wooo! It's too confusing to explain but the game is cool and worth a look!

If you have quadriple the free time that I do I still find this game difficult to navigate without a guide. The world introduced to us in this anticipated addition to the Metroid series introduces us to a pretty big world. It, however, isn't huge. Mostly your difficulty will come from searching nooks and cranies for items like a crackhead dismantling his home for quarters. While this is amusing at first it quickly becomes ho hum as you scan every inch of the planet in search of "everything" so that you can see the complete ending. While you get your money's worth out of this title I have to much on my plate to make Metroid my part time job so expect to buy a guide lest you spend countless hours looking for your 5 missle boost. Second 99% of the game is played from first person perspective. I didn't like this it made it difficult to go through areas that required alot of jumping and your always wheeling about your camera angles to situate yourself. I wish they made the first person an optional view and worked in a 3rd person perspective. Third and last compliant the "story and gameplay" I never got too excited when major events unfolded. The majority of your enemies are unintelligent critters that you blast with no interaction or reasoning other then they are acting as an aggressor. Story is told from old ruins and deciphered languages. All and all though (despite my compliants) it is fun and engrossing. Sometimes the puzzles are fun and the graphics are clean and fun to experience.
Metroid, at its prime!!!! ohhh, lame title...

This is a great game, superb graphics, great gameplay, even cooler music, and the weapons are purdy dang neat too. By far oneof the best games for gamecube, and allthough i am a proud gamecube owner, i shall admit that there are few. But, i'm gonna do what everyone else does.
Gameplay 5/5: Its smooth, quick, and I really liked the aiming system, really easy to kill things. It does take a while to get used to though, its not your classic shotter controlls.
Plot 4/5: Its a good plot, But I thought that you basically have to know all the characters and whatnot to get it, It was the first metroid game I played, so It was a little hard figuring it out, but its a good plot anyway, but it makes more sense if you know the whole idea behind metroid.
Graphics 6/5: If you have played this game, you know why, if you have not, then go...play iy now. The only thing that could have made them better is photo-realistic backgrounds like in Resident evil. But I think the GC would explode with that much coolness going on at once.
Challenge 5/5: Its rather obvious what you have to do most of the time, but it still is a challenging game non the less, but that was mostly because of the length of it, it seems harder than it is because its pretty long. The only thing I did not like, was the constant going back and forth through areas, about five of my seventeen hours donated to this game were from that.
So thats about it, I highly recommend this game, metroid and first person shooters at its finest.

I got this game second-hand after having the GameCube for about 6 months and wish I had got it muuucccccchhhhh sooner. This game is for the thinking gamer. The teen rating is for violence but I've seen more violence from the everyone rated Sly Cooper & the Thievious Raccoonus for PS2. One reason that it also may have been rated teen is that you can scan your enemies (which is awsome by the way) and sometimes it will tell you disgusting things about them. For example, they have already been hurt and to kill it you need to sever the spinal cord. Say what you want about the GameCube being for the little kids but you done get this from the PS2.
THIS GAME IS FLAWLESS!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

I'll try the best I can though. I have been waiting for this for the longest time. Sadly, I have only played the original Metroid, and I have always regretted never getting the two sequels. Samus Aran returns for her fourth and fifth starring roles, and what incredible games they will be. Some people have complained that putting it in first-person automatically means it is a first-person-shooter. This is not the case! It was actually a very smart move, as the camera in a third-person game is always far from perfect, no matter what game it is. Imagine trying to navigate narrow hallways and such while constantly repositioning the camera! Also, measures have been taken to prevent it from feeling like a shoot-em-up type game. For instance, you can lock on to enemies, similarly to Zelda 64 or Star Fox Adventures.
If you buy Metroid Prime, you should be sure to also buy Metroid Fusion for the GBA, because they will feature connectivity through the GBA-GC Cable. What that feature will be is still a mystery, but I guarrantee it will be awesome.
is another world or is only a incredible game?

In the past week I buy a PS2 but I see the Gamecube graphic and the fun factor of these games and I really look these games very impresionable ,one of these game is Metroid Prime,Resident evil,Mario sunshine, etc.I play past metroid games and this is the more funniest and realistic ,and the first person perspective is the best and most compatible with this game , I buy the Gamecube with MetroidPrime in first , playing this game is a drug ,never worrying me ,its really GOOD.
If Nintendo got a dime for graphics...

If Nintendo had a dime for every graphic horizon, they'd be rich. For starters, always was a fan of First person shooters, but then this game came out. In its seemingly unbeatable box, with even it's graphics to boast on the thing, it came in at 50 bucks. Now, after playing for a few hours, I was content with graphics, but then, the game fell. In my mind it just fell. It hit me like a brick. Where's the story line? What is with Samus. Why doesn't she have her suit, and most importantly, what the heck is up with these dark levels! For one, it sets a mood, but the glares are unbelivable in some levels if you play during the day. Now that can be fixed but, it's feel is lost after you play and shoot things for hours. Oh and yeah by the way, don't forget about those loads OF FUN rune puzzles, which are, by the way, in every single game.
