Fun but what to do now??????????

The Legend of Zelda, the Wind Waker is an overall exciting adventure. The worst part of it is, there are loads of places to get stuck. I myself, have barely even been able to get on this ghost ship, which you need to get on to get a triforce chart which you need at one point. It's extremely boring to spend hours pondering over how to do something, and it is a big waste of time. I think it's better to rent this game and play the easier parts, instead of buying it and just leaving it around the house because you're terribly stuck. Other than that, this game is challenging, scary at times, but as I said, it can get way too boring.

Might even be the greatest Zelda so far

When Ocarina of Time for N64 came out, people were blown away.

So naturally, when gamecube was released, people expected another great Zelda with realistic 3D graphics, and to everyone's shock (and to some's horror) Nintendo's next big Zelda was announced to use cell-shading technique, which provides cartoonish graphics for video games.

I too was surprised to find this change, but nonetheless bought a copy at full price because, hey, it's Zelda. Soon my doubts cleared and I had a blast playing this masterpiece.

To people that played Ocarina, this game will bring back the memories as it features many of the same sounds, music, and controls that were used in the N64 version. And although the cell-shaded graphics wasn't what people expected, it fits perfectly well into the atmosphere of the game, and once you get used to it you'll love it so much.

When Wind Waker first came out, there were some critics that called this game childish and said it was a bad installment for the whole franchise. But time proved them wrong. The only childish thing about this game, if at all, is the difficulty which has been tuned down a lot compared to the N64 Zelda. Wind Waker is such a good game that it has even become my new favorite Zelda of all time, and that's saying a lot since most of the Zelda games are of grade A++.

However, everything will soon change, at least I hope. The now-being-developed game of Twilight Princess has apparently made quite an impact on people that played it in E3, and now even the Cell-Shading hater can't say nothing to Zelda because it is gonna be as real as anything, like the code name for the project indicates, REAL ZELDA. Yes Link's body is gonna be proportional again in the next installment, yay?!

Nintendo is really taking their time on Twilight Princess(years!! It was supposed to come out in 2005 but they decided to postpone it to make it even greater????) so it will undoubtfully be another masterpiece. If it's as good as Wind Waker you know I'll buy it. But I have a feeling that I will again be surprised =]
Phhhh I try to keep my expectations at sane level but it's getting harder

IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE GRAPHICS!

Many writers seem to think that a reviewer's dislike of this game is based solely on the graphics, but this is only one of the many reasons I was so disappointed in Wind Waker. The entire mood of the game has gone from fantasy good-vs-evil to Saturday morning cartoon. In the previous games you are battling genuinely scary creatures (hair standing up on the back of my neck the first time I encountered the re-deads for example) and having to actually use a little brainpower to make your way through many places, instead of now having the whole process spelled out for you. We now battle cutesy enemies that vanish in a puff of Disney-esque smoke, play hide-and-seek with annoying kids, and collect butterfly necklaces. There's just no comparison. This game would be perfect for the gradeschool set who maybe haven't played the previous ones, but in the long run, I'll stick to the older games and hope there's more (better) Zelda planned for the future.

NOT VERY GOOD

I have played every zelda game ever but out and this one sucks. I really think sailing all over the place is boredom on a par with watching golf on tv. The overall feel is a very boring cartoon with endless amounts of time wasted getting from one place to another...Play OOT again and enjoy a good Zelda game.

Amazing, unreal BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!!

I'm not much of the Zelda gamer. Actually I thought it was very cheesy. I was upset with past Zelda games including A Link To The Past for Game Boy Advance. But when I got the Windwaker I was Zelda captured. It's a great game. The 3-d graphics aren't the best, but cool enought to like them.

Now to the actual gaming. Ok your sister Aryll gets captured by a mutant bird or something. Your grandma is displeased and gives you a shield. You go with a band of pirates and start a great adventure. Later you get a windwaker and the magic begins. This is definetely one of the best Nintendo games ever and a must have!

There was a dispute about the graphics. Well if that's what's deciding whether you'll buy this game or not, well stop thinking about it! The graphics are just plain beautiful. End of story.

In conclusion, I say you get this game.

The next chapter in the never-ending Zelda series in going to prove to be a good one. This episode is different, with Link having to rescue his sister from a bird that just flew out of the sky! A new item to replace his orcaina, a baton, is used to conduct the wind, to help move yourself around the island. This game's knew cel-shaded graphics (cartoon like) really give a new look to the game. New monsters, people, and worlds will make the game very unique. Yet, the zelda series is still the same with challenging quests, breath-taking scenery, and of coarse the weapons. For every Gamecube holder this is a must buy.

this has to be the bet game ever created.
it is placed in time 100 years after the ocarina of time, and it is said that in every game there is a new link born.(the only exception being ocarina of time and majora's mask)
this new link has a family, and in the game you see his grandmother and sister.
the story starts with link and his sister seeing a bird kidnap a pirate girl, so he goes to help her after being convinced by his sister.
when he saves that girl, the bird steals his sister, Arill.
this is one hell of a quest, and will be the most anticipated, and best game of all time!!!

Masterpiece!!

A lot of people were really upset when they discovered that Nintendo would be making the next installment of the Zelda series with a cell shaded "toon" style of graphics. Well, let me assure you, Nintendo knew what they were doing. Just wait until you SEE this game in motion. It is absolutely beautiful!! The sytle of graphics they have choose allows for so many cool affects and atmosheres that just wouldn't have been possible had they gone the more realistic route. DO NOT write this game off just because of a few pictures you saw of it in your favorite magazine or on the web. Pictures simply do no do this game JUSTICE!!! This game is going to take nearly everyone by surprise when it is released this March. (MARK MY WORDS) It will become the best Zelda yet!! Preorder this GEM right NOW!!!

Deja Vu.

There's something to be said for the Wind Waker. But I didn't find this game to be very exciting. Don't get me wrong it's very solid, but it feels a bit repetitive. You probably should get it anyway. It's worth a play through.

Graphically, the game is absolutely beautiful. Whoever's been telling you that cel-shading doesn't fit this game was completely wrong. It's absolutely stunning. 10/10

Sound wise, it's a different story. The standard effects are here, but compared to the incredible sountrack for Ocarina of Time and even the pretty good soundtrack for Majora's Mask, Wind Waker really lacks anything particularly memorable. The only memorable track was a remix of an older Zelda theme. 7/10

The gameplay is solid. It's just as you'd expect from a Zelda game. Exploration. Check. Sword slashing and item finding. Check. Dungeons with great bosses. Check. It's all here, and it's the exact gameplay you've come to love with intuitive control. 9/10

Story wise, it's a tweak of old Zelda storylines, but it all boils down to saving Zelda and beating Ganon. It's connection to Ocarina of Time is nice, but this is Zelda, and I'm not expecting something mind-boggingly amazing. I have one really big complaint here though. Why in the heck is Link being ordered around by a talking ship he hardly even knows? 8/10

Here's an entirely new category I'd like to include: originality. This is where the game really suffers, in my opinion. First off, they've replaced the brilliance of the land setting from Ocarina of Time and Epona with a vastly huge ocean and a boat. Not good. To be frank, sailing sucks. Really badly too. The first time you do it, you'll probably enjoy playing the song and aligning the wind in your direction. But when you need to get halfway across the map, which you will need to by completion of the second dungeon and throughout the game, it takes forever to sail across. I needed to sail back to my home island, and it took 5 minutes to do it. And that wasn't even at the end. It was at the beginning. Another thing, there really isn't anything innovative about the game. It's the same tried and true gameplay, and frankly, it's startly to feel a little worn despite what a lot of Nintendo Fanboys will say. 5/10

Overall, Wind Waker is a solid addition to the series. It's got enough good gameplay to keep you entertained for a long time. But the feeling of deja vu combined with the ridiculous sailing really made me question how much fun I was actually having compared to say, Ocarina of Time. Twilight Princess looks to be shaping up quite well, so we'll see then. Hope this helped you.
