From beginning to end... This game will immerse you in the gameplay and story. I won't write about the graphics. If you don't like them, then you don't like them. I have seen some people writing about how this game doesn't live up to the Zelda story-line, but if you get deeper in the game, you will be VERY surprised. This game is a corner-stone in the future of the Zelda series. If you finish the game, you will understand what i'm saying. OoT was a great game, and you can't compare this game with that one. Just like you can't compare OoT with any of the other Zelda games. I would recommend this game to just about everyone. This game will leave you craving more. Long live Hyrule........

Almost as good as Ocarina, but just short

First, lets get the cel-shading controversy out of the way... Broaden your minds people, this is a great look and it allows for a lot of variety in expressions, effects, and events, like firing Link from a cannon! Many of the "realistic" games I've played have a lot of eye candy, but garbage in the way of gameplay, story, heck many are lousy, only some are good. Games like this should have a touch of whimsy and humor and the cel-shading accomplishes this. Would you want Bugs Bunny and Co. drawn in a realistic manner? I thought not.

As far as the game play, yes it is easier and shorter than Ocarina of Time, but compared to sequels contemporary to Wind Waker (see Devil May Cry 2, Tomb Raider, etc.) there is plenty to enjoy. You aren't going to find everything right away, though you should find alot fairly easily.

The dungeons, though I wish there were more of them, are very well-designed. The difficulty level slowly gets ratcheted up as you go, forcing you to use and adapt to the new weaponry and accessories you discover, as all the Zelda games have done. The sword fighting is on par with Ocarina, especially with the new dodge and counterattack moves!

The ocean overworld is VERY big, but for those who have complained about this haven't explored enough of the game. There ARE shortcuts. And the world isn't any bigger in scale than the past Zelda games. The characters you meet are very colorful and memorable as are the mini games you can play.

Yes, the sound is probably the weak point of the game, but there are few games that are perfect in this respect any more. Metroid Prime was one exception. It would have been better to have had unique music for each dungeon, as it does get a little repetitive. But its a minor quibble.

Overall, I'd say Wind Waker is better than Majora's Mask, but not as good as Ocarina of Time. But then its hard to improve on perfection, and I'm sure this is why many have dismissed the game. Well, deal with it people, this game is most definitely worthy of being part of the Legend!

The Legend of Zelda....the best game for all ages

This is a fabulous game; speaking as a Mom of a young son. After checking it out myself I bought it for my son last year (he was 6 years old) He loved it.

Link is a young boy who goes on a quest and finds the hero within himself....What's nice about Zelda is that there is a story with interesting characters, with lessons to be learned; there is a quest and many challenges our hero Link, must overcome. What's more, there's plenty for your little one to READ (out loud to you--my son reads the story lines in Zelda better than his school books...it's true, that "all knowledge is interest")

In the beginning we read the information booklet (that comes with the game) at night and then he was ready to give Zelda a try. When he gets stuck, I'll help him with a hint(...).....a real life saver for all video games.

There's plenty of action to keep everyone of ANY AGE engaged, and challenging enough to play forever-literally. The moves Link (our hero, who you can name) are amazing, but he must earn the right to be taught the more advanced moves...

Don't hesitate to purchase this game, it's lots of fun for my son to play and even more fun when he has me sit with him to figure out what to do next.

(We saw a preview of the next Zelda-The Twilight Princess at the Comic-Con here in San Diego this summer. All I can say is that my son isn't the only one waiting for this game to be released!!!)

I am one of the many Zelda fans. I have played Zelda all the way from NES to now the Gamecube. I have never been disappointed with ANY of the Zelda games, and of course Ocarina of Time is the greatest, but thats besides the point :) Anyways, I thought that this game was gonna lack fun and excitement, plus I thought the cell shading graphics were gonna look horrible. In all reality, the cell shading graphics are not bad at all and they do and EXCELLENT job of settin the mood ofthe game. The gameplay is soooo fun, i work at 1 pm everyday so I stay up until like 4 am and I have been playing this game every night until 4 am since i got it. I saw the graphics they first released back in 2000-2001 which they were highly detailed 3-d graphics and was highly disappointed when I saw the new graphics they decided to use, man I was so wrong. This game is amazing in both graphic and gameplay, and I would definitely recommend the game to any person. I especially like how this game is tied in with ocarina of time so it keeps the Legend going, which that is a major key to games, making them worthwhile and continue on. That way you wanna keep playing and living the story. This game is for sure not a 1 night completion game so you're gonna get what u paid for plus even more. What more do I need to say?? BUY IT!! :) Peace

Much Better Than Expected

The first pictures and plotting I saw from this game made me think it would ruin the best series ever, with it seeming too cartoonish and kid-oriented. Still I awaited its arrival with anticipation and when it came I was astounded. The graphics are amazing, truly bringing the world around Link to life. And the world itself is so massive and breathtaking it takes hours to explore it all. The plot is so twisty and complex, it will keep you enthralled the whole way through.

Compared to Ocarina of Time:
Everyone I know, except me, thinks 'Ocarina' is the best Zelda title. I personally think that out of the last three games in the series, it is the weakest. The plot, although at times magical, is a typical story of a boy trying to save the world from an evil man. The backstory of Hyrule and the wonderful gameplay is what really drives this game. Plus, the dungeons in this game are extremely well thought out and the bosses suitably difficult. Only the dungeons and bosses truly surpass 'Wind Waker,' which are weak or annoying at times.

Compared to Majora's Mask:
This is my personal favorite Zelda game. The plot is even better than the remarkable awe-inspiring plot of 'Wind Waker.' Who just can't resist a story in which the moon will collide with the earth in three days, caused by a mask-wearing Skull Kid. It's a game with many philosophical ideas, like using masks to conceal your true self. And the side-adventures are both captivating and heart-touching, especially in the case of Kafei and Anju. This is the type of game that you should seriously just buy a Nintendo-64 just to be able to play it. My only gripes about it are its flawed saving system and easy bosses.

This is how 'Wind Waker' ranks up with the other recent 'Zelda' entries. This is a must-own for anyone with a GameCube.

Nintendo Does it Again!

This is the best game that Nintendo has made. The Graphics and music in every way is...balanced.

The timing of it coming was perfect. The world is coming into a technology age where we are putting every thing into digital format. Wind Waker just proves it more. I have been a Zelda fan for many years, and this is the topper of the all games. It should last a long time.

The Animation of it is used with new technology call Toon Animation. This was the first game that used this type af graphic. Majora's Mask did not stand a chance!

The Music is also a improvement. The Original music was awesome; this is better. Every piece of music has a mood, and, frankly, the moods in this game are mixed well. On the Seas you hear a song of upbeat (most of the time) music that defines of the excitement of adventure on the Great Sea (that's what they call it). The ending of the game's (Which is also quite overbearing, and that is wha made it awesome.) music was upbeat, but in a threatning way. I could not help but get my knees to the groud as that music was playing.

The Plot is not fast, but not slow. It takes it step by step and gives you hints to what's next.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Video Gamers and Trainies, we have to realize that this game is quite powerful. We must take it and use it. We must lastly look at the screen and put down that controller. Just take into thought the work and Development this great game went through.

In concluion, look ahead and see that The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess is coming. I hope this will be an awesome
game. But let's not get ahead. Let's remember this game in our hearts forever. Thank you for your time.

This game was the first gamecube game that I couldn't stop. While I haven't been able to play the first series, I am not upset by the different graphics. The plotline grows as the game progresses, and the attention to minute detail makes the game that much more enjoyable. Listening to the sounds the characters make leads me to wonder if the sounds changed at all from the Japanese version to the English. The music for the game was long enough that it did not loop annoyingly unless you were already stuck in a level. The game did not require strategy guides, as many strategy games, and if you worked at the problem long enough, you could try enough things to succeed at whatever frustrated you. This game really touched me as it was cute, fun and a hook into the rest of the series.

Okay people listen up this game is the best game ever the graphics are different but hello its called technology. This is also not just mindless slaughter it is for the good of your sister and the world of Hyrule which is underground the game will explain. there are tons of cool characters and a talking boat. somethings are realy realistic and some are not so realistic. The water is so cool. Stuff blows in the wind and you can cut very realistic grass so listen up all you people with skulls to thick to apperciate these realy cool graphics if you dont like them close your eyes and then play the game lets see how far you get trying to play like that. all in all this is the best game I have ever played!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though definately worth buying or at least renting, this game is not a game to play occasionally or once in a while because it takes a while to beat. But, if you are used to beating long games, then I would go and buy it. This game has some of the best graphics I've ever seen, really detailed and an interestintg, unpredictable storyline. The only thing is that as you get closer to the end, you have to find items and find travel to little islands which gets boring after a while. I guess maybe they had to strecth the game out a bit? But if your a Legend of Zelda fan and are patient enough to beat long games, this is right up your ally.

Fun, But Short

If there was ever a gam made for the graphics technology of the GameCube, it was the Zelda series with all its fantastic creatures, wizards, and monsters. On that level, the game does not disappoint. It is one beautiful game to play. While it is fun to look and play, it is not as deep as i would have liked. I played the game fairly regularly for a week and beat it in not time. There was not as much to explore as I had hoped or many challenges.

If you love Zela, by all means, buy it. Personally, i think a casual fan ought to rent it first and gauge whether the challenges involved have any replay value. i, for one, do not think so. But the game is still well worth playing at least once.
