Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker is by far one of the best games i have ever played. its beautiful visuals and awesome music will keep you hooked on the game for months to come. the gameplay is as solid as ever and people that have played Ocarina of Time will feel right at home. Screenshots that you may see of the game do not do the game justice...truthfully, the cel shading that was used on the game takes up a lot more of the systems power than polygonal games we see all of the time. a nintendo loyalist like myself have stuck through the struggle with nintendo and it has finally paid off.

Man, I've been waiting for this

I admit, at first I was disapointed about the change in artistic direction from the demo shown at the GameCube's launch. But it's really grown on me. From the first LoZ, looking at the instruction book I though, "Why don't the characters look like this in the game?" Now I got my wish. Do not discount this game till you've tried it. Take a look at Metroid Prime, IMHO 2002 Game of the Year. Everyone dissed the move to first person, but Retro pulled it off, giving us a truely solid, fun, and challenging addition to the Metriod series.
As for LoZ:Wind Walker, the gameplay is still there and then some. Also, if you pre-order you get a bonus disc of Ocarina of Time and the expansion planned for the 64DD that never released.
Of course, my only complaint, but with the series in general, it doesn't continue the story. Same hero, completely new story. There hasn't been a true sequal since Link's Adventure, or from OoT to Majora's Mask.

not to be compared with ocarina

This game should never be compared to the ocarina of time. The ocarina of time itself is a classic.before this was realised i saw screen shots and was extremly dissapointed.I was expecting an evolution in graphic design.I wanted it to mature but that wasnt what i saw.It wasnt until i got the game i realised just how good it was here are some key aspects of the game.

CEL SHADED GRAPHICS:not bad i liked the cartoony feel of it.It made the game seem more light hearted and fun.The scenery is beautiful and although link looks like a girl his facial expressions help to make the game that little bit more enjoyable.

GAME PLAY:The gameplay is great definatly an exolution. It allows you to pick up the weapons of fallen enemys and testing them on them allowing you to throw them at them if you wish.

THE "GREAT" SEA:one thing that stops the game being so fun.there is hardly enough land witch is disapointing still the land thats there is almost good enough. It kinda takes some of the fun out of the game witch is why it missed off five stars.

SEA GULLS:can be controlled is good fun but not integral

LONGETIVITY:there is quite alot to do after youve finished the game and the game its self is a reasonable length but i was expecting more.

One of the Best Zelda Games Yet!

I know that you have read all those nice little things about wow! This game is sooo cool! kind of stuff. I have my own reasons that I think this is a good game. For people who have played the ocorina of time, you know the warping that you can do there? It is on this game too. They have a feature called the picto box which is really fun to play with. The best thing about this game are the little things. If you shoot a Moblim with a fire arrow, they dance around with their pants on fire. If you spy on people you can watch them do some of the strangest things. For moms serching for a gift for their son/daughter (yes I am female) who is over 7 this is a fantastic gift. (No bad stuff other than a little puff af smoke when you defeat the monster) I recomend this game for both Zelda Lovers and first time Zelda people.

Every time I started to have fun, the game got in the way

Reading some of the reviews posted before, I got the feeling a number of these reviewers didn't actually finish the game. I agree with them completely about the first half of it, it's fun, it's pretty. The graphics, control system, and gameplay are all very good. And for the beginning, the story is excellent.
Where I disagree is in the rest of it. The second half of the game involves amazing amounts of guesswork, and very little encouragement, making the game lose most all of it's wonderful momentum. I started out overjoyed and having fun, then it all drained away.
Every time I started really enjoying myself - in a fight, a jumping puzzle, a dungeon crawl, I ran into something that just got in the way of it. Most often, it would be something that was tricky to figure out, and then you get that proud feeling when you do, but then doing what you figured out proved tedious and aggravating. I was ok with the sailing, I liked the graphics, I liked the story, and I liked the controls; but this game was designed in large part by a sadist. I've heard reviewers say it was easy, a lot of it is, but the parts that aren't are not difficult because the puzzles are complicated, they're just designed to be just hard enough that knowing what you have to do was less than half the battle.
I've played every Zelda game made, they've all had nasty tricky puzzles, but this is the first one where the puzzles are harder to complete than to figure out. Last time I checked, the point of a puzzle was solving it, not writing down the solution.
The story is all right, most notably because it is different from every other Zelda game made before. The unique flavor adds a lot to it, but the story remains pretty sparse considering the amount of leg-work between plot moments.
I have to say, having played through the entire game and gotten through every side quest, that it's good aspects are seriously hurt by it's overly irritating nature.

(Plus, one of the characters you have to rely on very heavily not only empties your purse, but is just damned obnoxious, good old pal Tingle!)

cute fun, but far from legendary

The Wind Waker is a charming, beautifully rendered game in some ways, but it doesn't live up to its lofty lineage. The first three Zelda games were probably the most epic and well-balanced gameplay experiences of their day. The Ocarina of Time was an absolute revelation - bigger and prettier than anything available in the day and redefining 3d action gameplay. While fun and nostalgic, the Wind Waker's action is simplistic and mild compared to, say, the latest Prince of Persia and Ninja Gaiden games. Its game world is downright miniscule and uninteresting compared to the fully realized worlds of, say, GTA, World of Warcraft, and Fable. For a series that has traditionally represented the state of the art, that's pretty disappointing.

This game is said to be the best Zelda game ever. I love all the Zelda games and truly this is the best. The graphics might look cheap, but after I read so many things and played the game that it is amazing to see what new adventures Link has.

I really want this game! It looks super-sweet! But I'm a little confused. Why would you but the OOT/OOT Master Quest bonus dic for 70 bux and get WindWaker for free when you could buy WindWaker for 50 bux and get OOT/OOT Master Quest for free?

I originally was only getting LoZ:W to have ocarina on GC, but I got the chance to play the demo version today at a local store and no matterwhat you think you have saw. This is Zelda. His looks have changed on almost every game so far so I think it is only fitting that Link now looks the way he does. He is a child again after all. I really liked the explosion effects and cell shaded flames are cool looking It really moves like a real cartoon. Every one should try it out before they say Nay to this version of LoZ.
