When I first saw the preliminary pictures of what the new Legend Of Zelda was going to look like, I was one of the few that didn't throw a tantrum. I am also one of the few that hasn't owned every Legend of Zelda game. In fact, the only Legend Of Zelda game I ever owned was the original. I didn't want to play any of the other Zelda games over the years because I didn't have the time anymore to play epic adventure-riddle solving games. Plus, I didnt like the realistic looking Link. I think this new Zelda is an attempt by Nintendo to draw new younger fans, yet appease the die-hards that demand the same game play. Give it a chance!!
But, in the case of the Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, I decided to get back into the fold. The graphics are nothing short of breathtaking. The gameplay is smooth. This is a huge game, jam-packed full of puzzles, action, and excitement. There is only one other game that made my jaw hit the floor when I first saw it, and that was Super Mario 64. In a way, this game is like Super Mario 64, a game where you feel like you are part of the environment, and the graphics and gameplay go hand-in-hand. Anybody who doesnt buy this game simply because of the graphics isn't dealing with a full deck.

I've played every Zelda game since its inception in the late 80s. According to Nintendo I was the 11th person to finish the game in the United States. This makes sense, because I received the game on the first day it came out and was sick - so I had nothing better to do than play Zelda from 7:30am to bedtime. No wonder I'm a pudge! You wonder how I came up with the figure of 11? I called them after I finished the game to try to get published in their monthly magazine. Sadly, the only were interested in the top 10, which is "pretty standard, really." In all fairness however, it is possible that I was not #11, just the 11th to report. But still to myself, it holds meaning.
Anyway, flash forward to 2003 - Zelda is back and has never been better! I admit I was skeptical when I saw a demo with the new animation. I love Link's facial expressions and all the added grunts and yells. Still no "talking" during the conversation sequences but it's kind of nice from the melodramatic characterizations that we are used to today. But that's a nice change from the voices of redneck super agent Solid Snake and the like.
I have only played this game for about two hours and it was difficult to draw myself away from it, but one has to go to work. It deserves 10 stars and game of the year awards - HALO 2 will have to wait until 2004 to receive the honor.
To sum it up, if you have ever played any Zelda games you should not miss this one! It is truly a sight to see when you hit your enemy and see him grimace. Way to go Nintendo! Keep up the good work!
I'm addicted...

I love to play this game. I don't want it to end, but it never really will because you can always go back and visit, and re-visit all the fun mini games and islands you want. My 7 year old daughter and I love the music and she loves to watch me play it. She was a little afraid to fight the monsters, but I think she is coming around and I'm trying to get her to continue on in her game. She is pretty much stuck at Dragon's Roost. Keep up the good work Nintendo!

I think it's ridiculous that so many people are bashing the game because of the fact that you do a lot of sailing throughout the game. If that's the only thing preventing you from giving this excellent game a 5-star rating, that's a dog on shame.
I also believe that, even though Wind Waker is pretty easy overall, that's not enough reason to bash the game either. A game doesn't have to be incredibly difficult to be fun.
The graphics, sound and everything else is what you'd expect from a classic Nintendo game. So please, don't be fooled into thinking the game is boring when it fact, the game is completely enjoyable from start to finish.
THIS GAME RULES!!!

Just some more reasurement that you should buy The Wind Waker. I've heard people don't like the new cel-shaded graphics but I think they are CRAZY!! The graphics are REALLY nice even though they are different. I like how they are 3-d and they add a pizazz to the game. The story line is around the same but the things that aren't in the other games RULE!! I really like how you get a talking boat (King of Red Lions) and have the wind waker.(a baton with which link changes the direction of the wind) It's really fun to grab a deku leaf and fly, too. The sound is great with some old tunes from previous games. It is a more challenging but for people that don't like TOO much challenge, (like myself) can win with a special item. (aka guidebook) Even with the guidebook it is hard. The bosses are harder but the real challenge is how to beat them, not the actual thing. Since the knowing how to beat them is harder, dudladudladu!!! To the guidebook!! Really, this is a fun game even for the mediocre gamer, (like myself, sort of) Old Zelda fans and new, come join me in the quest to keep Hyrule safe from evil!!
Wow!

If you are like me, you have the money to buy games but you just can't make a decision, because it seems like nothing ends up being worth it. Well, this game is worth it. It's worth buying a gamecube, and even a new tv. It's the best console game I've ever played! I haven't been this excited since the original Zelda came out when I was ten and started this whole terrible addiction. The graphics and effects are like a cartoon brought to life. If anything, it's TOO good.

I have to admit, I, like so many others, was skeptical about this game, particularly with the sailing thing (but not about the graphics. For some reason, I liked the new graphics before I saw them!) and the "control the wind with this baton thingy." But, after playing this game for a while, I realized there was no reason to be skeptical. The game is great! The graphics allow for so much more emotion then anything I've ever seen! And controlling the wind actually is more fun than I expected, it allows you to navigate your world more freely, as without the "Wind Waker" (the name of the baton), you would be @ the mercry of the wind sailing. Did I mention the boat? Your boat is the "King of Red Lions" and it talks to you, giving you advice on different things. The fighting system is very addicting, as it's so fun!
Graphics: 10/10 Amazing!
Sound: 9/10 Some things could be improved on, like maybe adding voice talent, but other than that it's very good
Controls: 10/10 The controls fit like a glove, and they're very easy to get used to
Gameplay: 10/10 Some challenging puzzles, boss battles and just plain running around are very fun because of all the things you can do.
Overall: 10/10 This is a great addition (and addiction) to any GameCuber's library. Fun, heroic, and emotional all rolled into one package!
Great Start!

Untill this game I had thought zelda was some sort of metamorpheses of a bug, so when this game came out I tried it out purly for the reason that I had never seen a game like it before. Now I am a zelda super-fan! Because of this game I have played every single Zelda game ever made, and that includes the ones made for NES and game boy origonal! So basicly I give this game a mile high thumbs-up!
A huge game of nothing but adventure and fun

If you want a game that is filled with nothing but strategy and a game that is absolutely huge, then buy this game. It's never ending. There is so much for you to do and find, and the main levels are big enough to last a day or so trying to beat them. There isn't another game out there that is as fun to play as this one. The graphics are sort of cartoony, but it doesn't take away from the great game that it is. You can sail in a boat around the sea, which has islands all around that you can go inside and find useful things. The bosses are fairly easy, but you won't kill them the first time!! It takes strategy and the right equipment to accomplish the main bosses. I highly recommend this game to both adults and children. Highly entertaining and will take a long time to beat. Oh, and once you beat it, you can play another whole game where you take pictures and go on quests.

I really thought, when the amazing Metroid Prime came out, that even the next installment in The Legend of Zelda, The Wind Waker, would throw it of its pedestal of glory, and the well deserved title of game fo the year. I have to say Zelda is easily as good as Metroid Prime, some people say it is even better, some people do not like it. The controversy about this game is huge, like my friends, who already hate the game because of the cel shaded graphics, even though they never played it. I tried to convince them to at least try it, but i abandoned some time ago. it's their miss. anywas the game is simply awe-inspiring, the graphics not only fitting perfectly the Zelda universe, but the music and gameplay just as wonderful as they were in OoT. THe world is so huge that you can fit the OoT's Hyrule in it many times, with so many isalnds to explore that you can only find yourself with nothing to do if you try really hard. on top of that, you can pretty much do what you want to do, when you want to do it, go wherever you want, etc.... the freedom in this ame is a lot like what one would find in a Final Fantasy game.
I give it full marks, 10/10, 100/100, 40/40, whatever, because it's impossible to give more, but god knows i would if i could.
