I really like age of empires, but this as twice the action, twice the civilizations, twice the history, and twice the excitement! I looove to build up huge armies in age of empires and slice the enemy up. But in this game, i can shoot 'em up, nuke 'em 'til they cook, but I can also slice 'em up in this game too. Anyways, this game is going to be very cool. I rccomend this highly- VERY HIGHLY!

Rise of Nations... and frustration

I found the game to be fun and rather challenging... when it worked. The upgrades from civ to civ happen quickly and are hard to manage effectively, but you get the hang of it after a while. Unfortunately, you also get the hang of saving your game frequently. I have a powerful new PC and the game just stops instantly. No error message, no warning -- you just go back to your desktop. And there's no autosave feature, so if you've been playing your first time and are 1 hour into it -- poof! It's all gone. Quite frustrating. Sadly, not much of a surprise, considering it's a Microsoft game.

horrible

This game would probably be a 5 out 5 game.....if it worked. I have windows xp and it dosent work.....please.....it froze 5 times before I gave up I even tried all the tips that people have put on the internet,I changed the settings and changed the resolution it never worked. I thought this would be the answer to all the bad srtategy games I have played, but I guess I will never find out.

Needs a little nip n' tuck.

I bought this game because I played Age of Empires I & II and the expansions, as well as Age of Mythology (and Titans), and was hoping for something new; something different.

It's different, but hardly new.
The look and feel of Age of Mythology has me jaded, apparently.
The look of RoN is anything but cutting-edge, even at the highest resolutions.
The game plays like any other RTS, with an emphasis on upgrading this and that.
The battles are less-than-spectacular in single-player games. I can only hope that it gets better online.

THIS GAME IS SWEET!

When I got this game I installed it and then when I played it(...). This is the best combat game ever! If you play Empire Earth, or even Empires dawn of the modern world, put those aside because this game rules. If your seeing if you want to get this game (...). You should really get this game!

Very good, but could have been outstanding!

So I got this game 3 days ago (very close friend of mine works with MS), and as soon as I started the training camp I thought "Hmm, looks like just another Age of Empires). But I decided to give it more time, and started the Conquer the World campaign. And I was surprised.

The game is one of the best Real Time Strategies I've played. Engaging game play, many things to do, and simply fun.
The first 4 or 5 hours, I loved the complexity of the game. Couldn't wait to conquer more nations, to see all the things I'm going to obtain. But after 12 hours or so of play time, I realized it's not as complex as I thought it was. The Special resources you get from invading certain areas are nice, but that's about it. Conquering the enemy's capital is only rewarding if they had multiple lands remaining.

Also, what you do in battle only matters while you're in battle. Once you win, you have to start all over when you get invaded again.

I know it's the way the game is designed, but after a while it gets somewhat repetitve. I wish they added more complexity to the game, it would've made it truly revolutionary.

Overall a very enjoyable game, much better than AoC.

What A Great Game...better than Civ 3 or Imperialism

I loved this game. Simply because the gameplay is very free-flowing and the graphics are excellent. You have a choice between over 20 different races and I like this aspect as well. I think this is a much better game than Civ 3 mainly because its easier to research technologies while in Civ 3 you can be in the latter stages of the game and still trying to research the caravel. The nuclear armaggedon option is borrowed from Civ 3 but overall along with the Imperialism games is an excellent game to play.

The *BEST* RTS game ever made, seriously.

Age of Empires and Empire Earth got left behind when this gem came out, this is the next generation of RTS gaming indeed. The game has a steep learning curve but offers some of the best gameplay I have ever experienced. Get it, you won't regret this purchase!

I've read tons of reviews and looked at hundreds of screenshots and I'd say this is THE BEST game. It has awsome graphics and has a bunch of ways to play it!

In the past strategic civilization games, all you did was send over an army to fight and build. It was fun but it was way to easy just to send an army to the enemy! Now you have to send with your army some Supply Wagons or Trucks to feed and supply your military.

If anyone has played Sierra's award winning Empire Earth along with the expansion pack, Art of Conquest, you surely know about the nuclear missiles. With a touch of a button you could send maybe fifty missiles across the mini-map and destroy the enemy, and without a care for nuclear fallout. Now in Rise of Nations (I think this is true. The details are still vague) you must worry about radiation.

I would recomend this product with millions of stars!!!

On May 20, I'm getting this product!!! Congratulations Microsoft for such a wonderful game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
