This Game Rocks!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

So far, I have only played the demo. And that rocks. You can zoom in and out and work yourself through different ages. As the different epochs of time elapse, new and more intresting factors develop in this game. For example, you "evolve" from a barbarian with a sword, to a heavy machine gun man (after about seven time periods). And you eventually go from a horseman to a tank(after a long time). This game is in extreme depth, and its graphics are exceptional. But this game does appear better with a newer computer. The newer computer enhances the graphics, and makes the game smoother. Another factor of this game that I specifically like is that you can build wonders to boost your economy and/or for military benifits. For example, the Eiffel Tower increases your oil flow, and Collosus of Rhodes increases your wealth income. But the Terracotta Army produces one ounit of foot soldiers every 30 seconds. There still are 11 more wonders to build, including the Space Program, Statue of Liberty and theKremlin. But if the demo has so many kudos, by my part, I cannot wait until I purchase the real thing. but I am just going to wait until the expansion comes out to accompany the original.

Great

At first when I bought this game, I was a little bit worried. I thought it would be boring and the same as all the other "Age of Empires" games. Boy! Was I wrong! This is a very fun game! The graphics are "sooooo" much improved! It feels like, to an extent, you are really in the game. Resource gathering is more realistic and you can now build more buildings! However, the soundtrack is a little bit dissapointing. To me it seems like there are only two songs. One of them, the singer goes "UOHHHHH" the whole time making it an annoying song. The other is good but not the greatest I have ever heard. However, the gameplay is more important than the music so I will not drop the star ranking at all! Anyway, get this game!

This game is going to blow the rest away!

I am already blown away by this game and I have not even played it yet. The screen shots speak for themselves. This looks like it's going to be the strategy game of the year.

Beta software at best - beware!

First off this is a great game. Second, I can only get through about 30 minutes as it comes to a crashing halt with a big freeze up. Yes, I have updated drivers, enough memory, blah blah blah. Nothing helps and I'm not the only one. check out the message boards for this game.

Other than that, I highly recommend it but even more I recommend downloading the demo and playing it for a long while to see if it crashes. If it doesn't... you'll probably have luck with the full version.

Frankly I would wait for a patch to be released and then try it.

the Four Stars is for the stuff I've actually been able to do minus one star for the crashing.

UPDATE
One new video card later and I'm back in business. That was the entire problem. No, it wasn't an old video card (ATI 8500 -- ok a little old) but who cares. It works now.

Good but not great

I've read other people's reviews of the game and I've got to say that while the gameplay is indeed good, graphically the game looks like it should have come out a couple years ago. Yes, you can zoom in three levels but all of the units look like wind up toy soldiers when they move. The units in Age of Mythology and Empire Earth move much smoother. The flying units look terrible compared to the same units in Empire Earth. If it weren't for the Conquer the World mode of play I'd have to give this game 2 stars only. Do yourself a favor and buy the Empire Earth Gold Edition. It is cheaper and a better game for your average RTS player. Most people point out that Rise of Nations is better because each civ has unique units. Unique units for each civilization does not a better game make.

THIS GAME RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont own this game myself but i have played it at my friends house and it rules. This game is very realistic. for instance you could have a huge army and still struggle for your opponents city! This is definetly the best game out there.

well, im bored by the monotony of all those RTS games (WC3 is one rare exception). DOn't be fooled by what they called innovative or creative elements that were added to this game. I'd rather spend my money on some European games, believe me or not, strategically, European games are far superior.

It beats AoE and AoM

Very nice game. I played all versions of the AoE and AoM and found this game is much better. If you are AoE fans, this game won't disappoint you.
