BORING

That's right, this game is boring from the start all the way to the end and back. I wouldn't be doing justice if I only used one word to describe such a deep and complicated game, so I'll add another word--TEDIOUS. Unless, of course, you love playing the exact same scenario over and over and again and again and so on.

The campaign mode is like you start with 3 buildings and you beat the other guy, then you get to the next turn, and pick another country to attack on the world map. That's when you get to master the skills you learned in previous scenario by starting again with 3 buildings and beating the other guy. End of turn. Attack/defend again, start with 3 buildings, beat the other guy... rinse and repeat... until you have conquered the whole world. Of course you could also save the game at the start of any give turn and play that turn again and again... and by golly you wouldn't know the difference. Oh and in case you advanced in age ahead of the other guy, expect your tanks to be poked into oblivion by dem pikemen. They really can find some holes in dem tanks with their long umm.. pikes.

Anyways, you might still like this title a LOT since it is deep and balanced and long and... VERY satisfying to a masochist--I suppose. If you like it then great but if you want a better title then try Medieval Total War.

This game is soooooo cool

I really like strategy games where you settle and build. This game has very good graphics but what is bad part is the thing where you can't zoom in very close. The campains aren't very long like some other games. The conquer the world campaign is'nt my favorite part of the game but it will keep you occupied
for a while but it is slow to advance to the next age.I really have fun with this game and I recomend it for all that like Strategy games.

You can't judge a book by its cover and you can't judge a computer game by its box. Granted the game looks cool, but its sooo confusing! The instruction booklet is like 2 pages and just gives credits for who made the game- who would want to take credit for this awful game? The game is way to boring and takes a Harvard graduate to understand. If you want a real game get Age of Empires or Empire Earth.

Disappointed

Such a shame. This could be a fun game, but the online playing server Gamespy and this game just does not click. It constatnly goes out of sync, freezes up, lags and that is if you can find a game.
This game had so much potential, but the poor follow up along by BHG along with all the bugs (there are quite a few), make this a poor buy.

nothing different

its microsoft another bid on rts after age of empires and age of myhtology.well the basics are all the same, but where u had arkantos and joan b4 now we have nations.well at first it looked like u just got to build a few cities, make an army and capture the enemy capital.but when u play it in the tough and medium mode, thats when u have to be on ur toes.when to attach, how many cities and where, ambushes, openfield battle, engaging the right units with the right enemy units.and last of the campaigns in which u have to capture the enemy's capital is so difficult that u destroy some army buildings, and u lost half ur army for that, and when u look around they have created the same buildings while i was destroying them at another site.well i still prefer age of mythology as microsoft's best product, but uniting the whole world under one rule is kind of exciting.and yes the one blemish the thirteen different countries do have special advantages of thier own,but when u come out in the open everything is same for every country.

Nice.. Very nice!

Needs non-combat

My friend and I have played this game. We say it is great as far as the genre goes. However we are now both bored, and conclude that it places too much emphasis on aggressive game play. If you get into that kind of play all well and good. But having played Star Craft etc., we are now looking for something that is closer to the reality we know. The history of the Nation State runs together with non-nation state forms of organization: The gaming community, and software-producing geeks are examples. We are looking for a simulation game that can show us how both Nation State and Non-Nation State organizations network and support and control each other. Why? Because it would help us understand how things really work rather than the simple fight, bribe, buy and dominate modes of simulation games. Fun, but the genre still needs development.

Might be good.......

This game might be a good one.... If I could play it on my laptop. If your like me and 1 million others that only have an 8MB of memory on a laptop, DON'T get this- it won't work on your computer. I was looking forward to playing this too, don't fall into the same trap I did.

Hi guys. This game is extremley fun, but I give it only three stars because right now Microsoft is having a software problem so it freezes every now and then. Heres the gist of the game. You start out in the ancient age with only a small city and a library with five citizens. You work your way through the ages by doeng research at the library collecting neccisary rescourses such as oil, metal, food, knowledge, wood. and wealth.
Tip for player: Conduct diplomacy with your opposing nation(s), build a giagantic army then wage war.
Overall this is a great game. Keep up the good work, Microsoft!
