I've read tons of reviews and looked at hundreds of screenshots and I'd say this is THE BEST game. It has awsome graphics and has a bunch of ways to play it!

In the past strategic civilization games, all you did was send over an army to fight and build. It was fun but it was way to easy just to send an army to the enemy! Now you have to send with your army some Supply Wagons or Trucks to feed and supply your military.

If anyone has played Sierra's award winning Empire Earth along with the expansion pack, Art of Conquest, you surely know about the nuclear missiles. With a touch of a button you could send maybe fifty missiles across the mini-map and destroy the enemy, and without a care for nuclear fallout. Now in Rise of Nations (I think this is true. The details are still vague) you must worry about radiation.

I would recomend this product with millions of stars!!!

On May 20, I'm getting this product!!! Congratulations Microsoft for such a wonderful game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great RTS

As a beta tester, ive been able to play many versions of this game. The latest version is much better then the beta versions as far as system reqs go. I believe this game will parallel empire earth... very fun yet no publicity. Anyhow, gameplay is very fun but there is a LOT of micromanagement compared to other RTS games, its managable but once you have multiple cities (aroudn 4) it gets to be difficult when new technologies allow for refineries and granerys and such. The battles are very fun, not much detail into the battles... there is also no really great leap in graphics to speak of either... the unit limits are also a bit annoying as they are somewhat small (not compared to warcraft 3 though). The non-combative qualities of this game as a previous review spoke of are somewhat unique but dont have much of an effect on the game. There are wonders which can give you major boosts into the game, units have the ability to emphasize their attacks (razing buildings or economic raiding) which is very cool. The diplomacy is also the same as every other game... basically its another word for making teams but theres a small twist as you can be an "ally" or just be "at peace" with them as each costs a diff. amount of "wealth" (a type of resource). Also, you can declare war for a price which is very cool. Also, the previous review said theres a consequence for nuclear strikes, well in the beta's (so im not sure htis is how its gona end) there is a countdown to "armaggedon"... i think if 12 nuclear missiles are launched (not sure of #), the game will just end with no winner.

One last thing is the game concentrates on territories. You can control portions of hte map (70% in one type) in order to win instead of destroying all enemies. One thing they seemed to emphasize unfortunately is the ability to win without neccessarily destroying the enemy which most likely just wont happen in real multiplayer games.

The singleplayer is actually unique though come to think of it. It is basically RISK... but you get to fight teh battles. Its very fun as you can declare war on nations, take over continents, fun stuff.

Anyhow, this is a great all around game, can quickly rush someone or play it out in the long run. Lots of units and quiet a bit of micromanagement and considerations. This would be a great game to buy , though the guy before me (most likely a microsoft employee or something) seems to have never seen an RTS before.... very well rounded game people, good idea to buy. This game deserves a 5 star as its very well rounded, fun, and i see very few flaws in the game, if not, none at all. Theres nothing unbelievably new that will revolutionize the industry... this is just a great game holding true to the RTS genre and is very fun.

This game is going to blow the rest away!

I am already blown away by this game and I have not even played it yet. The screen shots speak for themselves. This looks like it's going to be the strategy game of the year.

Just played the Trial version this is such a cool game

Oh this is such a great game. I downloaded the demo today and I couldn't stop playing. The beginning of the game reminds me of Age of Empires but man o man this game goes way past it. Lot's of game options. This is definitely a must-have RTS game.

have it already

...It plays a lot like Age of Mythology. Graphics are super and the game installed without a hitch. I haven't tried multiplayer yet...but the single player game is great for everyone. The game offers a variety of tutorials and scenarios for every level of expertise. While it doesn't break a lot of new ground, it is very enjoyable and worth a look.

This game is stupendous

First of all I have to tell you that the demo is available for this game. You can get it from the official site.
Ok, this game is incredible. The graphics are so much better than any other RTS I have ever played. The other reviewer who states that there has not been much detail put into the game and that the units are kind of small doesn't really know what he's talking about (which surprised me because he's a Beta tester). He must have forgotten about the zoom function. You can zoom in on your units to enjoy the full effect of the details and the battles. These aren't ordinary battles either, they include hundreds of units. Though the default population limit is set to 200 you must know that for each standard military unit you create you get 3 soldiers. That means that if you have an army that takes up 40 places in your population you really have a 120 of them. It is really great.
Once you get to the modern ages things get even better. You have full access to high tech fighters and bombers, submarines and battleships, machine guns and bazookas, and powerful tanks. And don't forget the nukes! And these nukes can be upgraded to ICBMS!

Very good, but could have been outstanding!

So I got this game 3 days ago (very close friend of mine works with MS), and as soon as I started the training camp I thought "Hmm, looks like just another Age of Empires). But I decided to give it more time, and started the Conquer the World campaign. And I was surprised.

The game is one of the best Real Time Strategies I've played. Engaging game play, many things to do, and simply fun.
The first 4 or 5 hours, I loved the complexity of the game. Couldn't wait to conquer more nations, to see all the things I'm going to obtain. But after 12 hours or so of play time, I realized it's not as complex as I thought it was. The Special resources you get from invading certain areas are nice, but that's about it. Conquering the enemy's capital is only rewarding if they had multiple lands remaining.

Also, what you do in battle only matters while you're in battle. Once you win, you have to start all over when you get invaded again.

I know it's the way the game is designed, but after a while it gets somewhat repetitve. I wish they added more complexity to the game, it would've made it truly revolutionary.

Overall a very enjoyable game, much better than AoC.

Civilization fans rejoice!

Having myself played every version of Civilization that has come out, I can say this is an awesome game. Just the demo makes me want to rush out an buy this, and I might have to spring for Express Mail shipping.

If you like detail, it's all there. If you don't, this isn't for you, and you can go back to playing Doom and other shoot em ups.

Wow

Up to this point, my favorite rts game has been the age of empires series. This game blows it out of the water. The options seem endless and the gameplay is great. I also like the idea of using technology from the past 6000 years. It is amazing. I have only played the demo, and I can't wait to buy the final game and experience what I feel could be a revolutionary game. BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
