This game is a wonderful RPG for the GBA. The graphics are the best that you can get on the GBA. The game is a little slow going. It can take three or more hours to complete one quest because you have to do three more just to get the first one done. But that is the great thing about a good RPG, it should take a while to beat. Plus the puzzles in this game while not hard are challenging. One of the pillar puzzles is a pain just because of the water drip. This game is just the begining. The continuation of the game is Golden Sun: The Lost Age. If you're going to get this game you better get GS:TLA as well. This game is great for those summer vacation days or really long car trips. Time just seems to fly by while playing. Golden Sun is one game that all GBA owners should have.

This is with out a doubt in the top TWO of all the RPGs I have ever played and the other may be a tye. even my brother would agree with me and we almost never agree. the only thing I would change about this game is to have it have in two or three parts that you beat like in Dragon Warior III for GBC( another good game I might add.) some of the other reviewers sead that this game will take a wile to beat unless you have cheats or a walkthrough or sum-such, however I have only played it for about 40-41 hours and I have just goten a game guide and I found out that I only have to beat 3 more people, also all that time is withen one week. but untill I get the next Golden sun I am going to play this one.
The only GBA game worth having!

I'm serious, if you only decide to buy one GBA game in your lifetime, this should be it. This is one game that you can judge by its cover. When I first saw it, I thought the box looked cool, and let me tell you, it's the best 20 dollars I've ever spent! Just to give you a breif overview:
Graphics: 10/10 (The colors are vivid, the landscapes are detailed, the battles are breathtaking, what more could you want?)
Sound: 10/10 (This is the best soundtrack I have ever heard for any console game. You may notice in other games the songs are all similar and repetative, however, in Golden Sun, the music is one of the elements of the game that keeps you playing)
Play Time: 9/10 (Unless you have a walkthrough or strategy guide, you won't finish this game in a week)
Story: 8/10 (Yes, the story does seem familiar if you are a fan of other RPG games, but there are many new elements to it as well)
Difficulty: 8/10 (The controls are very easy to pick up, you won't be consulting the instruction manual too often to double-check what the B button does. The puzzles are challenging, but not as difficult as those in other RPGs)
Replay Value: 6/10 (The only con to this game is the dialogue, if you can get through the dialogue more than once, then I applaude you)
Other Stuff: The Djinni in the game are very interesting and add more depth. It is especially fun to use them to summon elemental spirits (my personal favorite is Judgement).
Conclusion: This is a great game definately worth buying, and a must-have for any RPG fan. I wouldn't reccomend this game for anyone under 11.
The Best GBA game I have ever played and probably ever will

There are few words to describe this GBA title. So I'll say them. Incredible, Beautiful, Fun. Incredible, because it has incredible capabilities choice wise as in like items and battles and stuff. Beautiful because the graphics are amazing and beautiful for a Gameboy Advance. This game has just nailed everything right on the money especially if you are a RPG fan. I would definitely buy this game if I were you.

thisis a got to have game. i mean this game is all that. well lemme exlain to u in a list.
1.graphics- te graphics in this games are just flat out phat. sweet 3-d rotting battle scenes and pokemon like graphics but wit much more detail when ur walking around towns or the world map.also beautiful colors add quite of detail in this game.
2. sound- sound is excelent. the music soots the area and the time and surrounding situatons. the battle scene souns are excelent. as they striek with an atack, soud is so exact and realistic.
3.-gaming value- the game is quite well done. it starts with a nice plot and setting. the game is not the easiest cuz u might be heading on and u thnk r done but ur really not. somethngs are well hidden and u might have to do this or that b4 ur outa here.i my elf beat the game but i realized at the end how hardit was to beat the last boss. obviously i was missing quite a bit of things.
the only flaw is that the game ends where its not suppose to.
i thought after the boss i was only hlf way through..but iwas wrong.this obviously eans a golden sun 2 s cummnig out someday. its not a long long game. its only bout 12-20 hours of game play.
but this is a wondeful game an i urge u to buy it. hope u enjoyed my review. until next time!

For several month after buying my GBA I was convinced that "Advance Wars" and "Mario Kart" might be the only decent titles available in the US this year... then "Golden Sun" came out.
Make no mistake... it isn't as much pure fun as "Mario Kart", and it isn't as infinitely replayable as "Advance Wars", but "Golden Sun" is a wonderful piece of work.
In many ways its reminiscent of the silly little Final Fantasy games where the whole point was to wander around and get hit by "surprise attacks" every few feet by wandering creatures. It's definitely a weakness that the genre hasn't outlived this annoying technique to elongate game play. But if you overlook that one glaring weakness (which inhabits virtually every game in this genre), the game has so much more to recommend it.
For one, there is the Djinn system of magic. All of your characters have basic magic themselves, but the presense (or absense) of various "elemental" Djinn enhances or decreases the class of the player, and thus the magic they can use. Major subplots of the game center around aquiring Djinn, and yes, if that sounds like Pokemon, just suck it up and live with it. The Djinn don't have the annoying personality quirks of the Pokemon, and in most cases you actually have to defeat them in battle to aquire them... so they aren't pushovers. When you aquire them, not only do they enhance your character class, but they can ALSO fight for you (although unlike in the annoying Pokemon games your character doesn't just stand in a corner yelling "use your Water attack"... your character is still fighting him/her-self and is still in mortal danger).
The basic plot of the game is the usual "save the world from a disaster you helped create" plot and carries just enough weight to keep you moving forward. The character conversations can be a bit wordy (and annoying if you hate having to hit the "A" key five million times to get through them), but if you bother to read it all, it actually tracks pretty well.
There are more great things about the game (the neat World Map mode, for example), but I think its enough to say that if you own a GBA and like RPG games, you've got to have this title.

Golden Sun is the first original RPG for the Game Boy Advance and thus gets overhyped a bit. Yes, it has great graphics; the best yet for a GBA game. It also has a pretty good musical score and great sound in general. However, the storyline is right out of an early Final Fantasy game. The characters over emphasize plot points through repetitive dialog ("Should we go that way? Yes, let's go that way. OK, we're going that way. So, I guess we'll go that way now. OK let's go that way now.") and the only real surprise is the ending which happens too soon and doesn't really resolve anything (because it's to be continued!). Still, it's strangely addictive and you do care what happens to the characters. All in all a very strong RPG that's almost perfect.

Anyway, this game is amazing. When you walk into a house, you feel like you're in a house. Not like in Pokemon or stuff like that. When you fight, you feel like you're in the battle making the hits, taking the blows, and calling the shots. When you do make a move, the graphics explain why i gave this 5 stars. For example: when you cast Ragnarok, a huge sword comes flying from the sky and slams into your opponent, causing hundreds of particles to fly up from beneath your opponent. And they're even better when you cast an elemental DJINN. These little creatures can unleash power (and graphical capabilities :)) that you know hurt. The more you have, the better it gets. An example is when you summon JUDGEMENT. And, as anyone who played this game before knows, is unbeleivable. When summoned, a huge gradon like creature appears, then charges up a huge laser. When he shoots it, you see a flash heading for the earth. When it hits, a nuclear blast cloud erupts, then it shots screnn shots of the damage on the beach, the forest, then the playing field. You know its gonna hurt!!
Anyway, this game is an extreme challenge, so if you're now up to the challenge... The plot is kinda lame, as it is a rip of many other games, but i'm sure the sequel will change that.
