Easily one of the worst games I have played.

The first thing you'll notice about Golden Sun is that it has remarkably pretty graphics compared to other Gameboy Advance games. The colors are vibrant and the world is richly detailed. Thus ends the positive part of my review.

After you've completed the interminable introduction which lasts about an hour and doesn't allow you to save, you will begin to witness the horror that is this game. You'll quickly realize that in any conversation where you have a choice, the designer will only allow you to pick one choice. If you try to pick the other choice, you will encounter an infinite loop of another character saying, "You don't really mean that!" until you pick the choice the designer wants you to pick.

So the conversations are no good, so what? Despite being billed as a role playing game, you don't roleplay, but you do get to explore new locales, solve the occasional puzzle, and fight some turn based battles. Except the locales are needlessly tedious, involving huge amounts of backtracking through empty screens to accomplish your objectives. The puzzles are so simple you barely realize that you're thinking before you solve them. The battles should be fun, but they're not. Despite giving the illusion of tactical choices, there's really only one course to be followed in many combats. In the end, who wins is either determined before the battle begins by the relative powers of the combatants, or by random chance if they are balanced.

This game is truly mindless. The characters are the typical sickly sweet children of Japanese "RPGs". The plot is hackneyed and boring. Don't play this game. Don't buy it.

Well, being an 11 year old avid gamer, i was anxious to get this game as soon as possible. Now i wished i hadn't asked my mom to get it for me. First of all, there are way too many levels! I mean, who wants to spend time on 21 levels that are extremely hard? I've had it for 3 months, and am only on level 2!
Second, there is way too much dialoug! I mean the characters ramble on and on about the same things!
Next, i have to pick on the poor characters. i've seen better characters on Barney! Overall, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Don't buy it especialy for children, i mean, if my mom can't get it, then i don't think any kid will.

Golden Sun?

Sequal came out....Thats worth it.
But just think Golden Sun maybe short but THINK.
HOW MANY RPG GAMES ARE THERE IN GBA?
About 4. And golden sun is uhh the 2nd outta 4rth. Or third.

this game is way to over rated. it is fun at first while you can actually do something besides walk around in circles. what i mean is you can do some things but then you just get stuck because you can't figure out where to go and what to do. sometimes you can guess what to do like save this tree that is dying, but then you can't get the magic water to save it. another thing is there is a bridge that you can't get across. this is the worst game i have ever played and yes i am talking about the highly over rated golden sun game. it is just so confusing. if anyone knows anything about what to do at the light house or how to save the tree, then please let me now before i waste more of my life playing this horrible game.

When I first bought this game, I thought that it was going to be cool. First RPG on GBA and all, but the story doesn't even end. You have to buy Golden Sun 2 to finish the story. Plus, the characters spend 10 minutes a conversation to make stupid faces and talk really slow. The gameplay is pretty good, but the talking makes it all bad. Sometimes they will go into a talking scene and I can't save. It's just a horrible game. Just borrow it from a friend. It's not worth the money!!

This is a decent RPG game that features an expansive environment and tons of fun for RPG diehards. Unfortunately for the average gamer the gameplay is too complicated -- this game has by far the thickest manual of all GBA games I've seen. The graphics are attractive. Even though the storyline is quite lame and laughable, RPG fans will be easily engaged. All in all, a game worth getting.

people who say this game is so easy have either got a strategy guide that tells them exactly what to do or they just want to make the game sound fun. i can get past some of the first things that you do like going with Kraden up to the mountain and catching the theives, but then i get stuck because i can't figue out how to save the tree or how to get the magic water from the lighthouse. so basicly it is fun at first but the fun only lasts so long unless you have a really good strategy guide that tells you exactly what to do and where to go. this game was a waste of my time and money.

This game isn't very good. first, You have to go through lots of very difficult levels, The people spend forever talking, and you have to find some artifact to restore the world. you have to use psychic and magical powers lIke earth, wind, sun, and fire(which i don't like). so iwouldn't recommend this game to impatient gamers.

I have this game and it's good, but it is a waste--YES, a waste--of money. How so? Read the numbers... oh, and if you are thinking "quality over quantity", believe me, these games have PLENTY of quality:
FF 7--15 dollars, 50+hours of gameplay
Chrono Trigger--Free(Emulation), 15-20+ hours
Legend of Dragoon--15 dollars, haven't finished, but the first out of four discs is about 17 hours
Half-Life--30$(Half-Life generation, look for it all over the net... has Half-Life, Opposing Force, TFC, and CS) 16 hours single player (IF you have played through the game many times and are a TOTAL expert at it and know the puzzles well, first time through the game is around 50 hours) Potential 100+ hours online IF you enjoy deathmatches/rescue the hostages/capture the flag and take it a step at a time, cause you won't be an expert at it at first (ESPECIALLY CS). Also, if you have a fast connection, there are hundreds of fun single and multiplayer mods out there...
Everquest Trilogy--30$ initially, 12$ per month, HOWEVER you get about 20-50+++ hours per month since this game is so addicting...
Sonic Adventure--10$(Dreamcast) 'bout 12 hours earning all the stuff, still great deal...
Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal--YES! I have definitely outgrown Pokyman, but for the younger ones...30$, 120 hours of gameplay if you like collecting, trading, and training pokemen...
That's all I feel like writing down! Clearly, Golden Sun is a horrible financial deal... AND, while 30$ is a petty amount, if you like to make the most out of your money...

Golden sun was horrible the graphics were really bad and main character never talked you should not golden sun its a waste of money.
