No pressure

My 8-year-old is fascinated with it -- he described it like this: "It's like playing without the pressure, like you don't have a time limit. And you can't really lose." Take your time, play with the controls -- a great introduction to the Wii, before you play the games which DO have pressure. Plus, we discussed that it does not ask you to destroy anything or kill anyone, and you can even go diving with your friends in the multi-player mode. Great change of pace.

Oddly Addicting

Definitely an original concept. There are goals in the game. Try and find all the sea life listed in your encyclopedia. Bond with the animals to learn more about them and expand your map. Act as a guide for people from all around the world and see if you can meet their expectations. If you do well, you unlock stuff. The graphics are stunning and it's always a shock to find a new creature. I would like to see more objectives next time, but I still get hours of play out of this.

I initially bought this for myself, I heard it was relaxing and beautiful, and could be used as a virtual aquarium. Well I would not know because my ten year old will not let me near it. It is more educational in a very fun way, there is a treasure hunting component that the boys loved. If you are looking for action and thrills this is not for you. BUT, my son now knows the scientific names for many fish and other aquatic animals. Just do not tell them it is educational!!!

As much as I found this to be a snoozefest, I admit I didn't buy it for myself. My seven and four year olds think this is a great game. Unfortunately, my four year old can't play it without me being right by his side (lots of reading), so that means I have to sit through it all. It seriously puts me to sleep. But my kids keep going "one more dive! One more dive!". So I guess it's got appeal. I would recommend nintendo make this a lot easier so that younger kids could play, because I don't imagine many adults wanting to.

A nice pleasant game. Priced right.

Retiree here. This is a relaxing game, and priced right at $29.99. Probably would have been dissapointed if the price was higher. For a relatively low price, this is a relaxing game for anyone, and highly educational for youngsters. Very nice for occasional play. After spending some time with this game, I plan to take my 4 year old grandson to the local acquarium, and then let him play the game. He will enjoy it after visiting the aquarium, not before. As a skin diver (not scuba diver), I consider this game realistic, and it brought back memories of skindiving in Hanuma Bay, Hawaii.

This game is fantastic. You can learn about the different kinds of sea live and creatures. Game is very educational and it play relaxing music while you swim. Exploring the ocean has never been so much fun. I recommend for all ages young and old alike! One disadvantage that I don't like is the online capabilities. Wiconnect should stay on for the whole game.

Fun for a game that's not a game....

I love marine life. We've had a marine aquarium for several years and are highly addicted to the hobby. So, anything with oceans and marine life is going to peak my interest.

The basic premise of the game, is to explore and discover life and treasures under the sea. Throughout the game, you're given a variety of missions and assignments that you can choose to accept or ignore. Some are taking pictures for a magazine and others are being a dive guide. With each dive there are opportunities to meet and discover new species of fish and sea life.

Doesn't sound like much of a game does it? Well, it's really not a game, it's more of an exploration. While it does have a great deal of educational value, to gain that knowledge a child would need to be able to read or have someone read the information to them. My 6 year old enjoys swimming and petting the fish, but for missions, I have to read the text and direct her. For her it's not a big deal though. She's happy just to swim and pet. My 9 year old has enjoyed playing it as well. It's not really challenging for him and he doesn't spend a great deal of time playing at a single setting. However, he has went back too it multiple times. For myself, I've spent about 15 hours with it and I've gotten about all I'm going to get from it for awhile. In that time I covered a lot of ground, but the missions have become routine and the species of fish repetitive. One funny part, the game encourages touching, grabbing, and petting of highly venomous fish. Not sure that's a great thing to teach kids.

As far as graphics and playability, I would have to agree with most everything in the following review http://wii.ign.com/articles/846/846970p1.html There isn't a lot of action, and the graphics on the ship are lacking to say the least. However, the underwater exploration more than makes up for the ship deficiencies and the relaxing nature of the game compensates for the lack of action. So while I won't spend hundreds of hours playing, it is a nice game to have and I think worth it since it can be played and enjoyed by everyone in our family.

This game is essentially like participating in your own sea life documentary. Essentially, you will explore the sea and find different types of sea life, ranging from sea horses, to starfish, to all kinds of fish, to whales, sea mammals, and birds. Each time you encounter these animals, you will be provided with a little blurb of information about the animal (up to three times). The corals and fish behavior has been recreated from videos of sealife and is therefore pretty attentive to detail, but this game is more for someone curious about sealife as opposed to someone who is thrilled by diving.
This is a slow paced game, where you will explore at your leisure. Do not expect to kill, shoot, die or run out of time!
But if that's what you're looking for, this game is absolutely worth it! Graphics are stunning, music is weird to say the least, and controls are very simple.

This is a great game with no pressure-- no time limits, no worries about being hurt. It's beautiful and relaxing. You can just wander and explore and there's always something interesting to find. Follow fish, check out caves, grab photos-- I enjoy looking through my photo album.

I wasn't sure about this game at first, but after I learned a bit more about it shortly after it came out, I thought it sounded kind of cool. Now, I'm what you might consider somewhat of a hardcore gamer, though not super hardcore. But I'm willing to try a new and different game if I think it sounds cool and fun.

So I got this game. When it arrived and I started playing it I found it to be fun. It starts off a bit slow at first as the game teaches you the controls and how to play, but it does a good job of getting you started. You could easily dive right into the game without reading the manual first. That's how easy it is to get into this game. After it teaches you how to play, you're free to dive and go where you want. That's when it really gets fun, once you can start exploring, discovering new creatures and salvage items.

The underwater environments are beautiful to look at, and the game has an excellent sound track to go with them. As you play, you can interact with the many different types of marine animals and fish in the game to unlock more entries about them in your Marine Encyclopedia. There are 3 entries to unlock for each of the over 200 animals and fish. So that gives this game educational value too, which I think is nice. I also think it's nice how this game shows you the wonders of nature and why we need to take care of the Earth.

In addition to filling up the Marine Encyclopedia, there are also salvage items that you can find on the sea floor. You can also press the A button to take a closer look at the surface/object you're pointing at, which is a nice addition. I haven't found all of the treasures yet myself, nor have I completed the Marine Encyclopedia, but I'm working on it. I find that I can just sit and play this game for hours. It's just so enjoyable and fun.
