Great introduction for non-gamers!

My husband and I find ourselves in a somewhat rare role reversal. I LOVE video games - he's merely lukewarm on them and has a small attention span for complex games. But he's an avid scuba diver and marine biology buff, so I thought I'd take a risk and buy this game for him.

He LOVES it. He says that it's as close to scuba diving as you can get on a screen. It's very relaxing and mellow, and he loves just wandering around looking for cool new stuff. We were both thrilled when we ran into our first humpback whale.

The underwater pen is trippy - it's fun to be able to draw a picture and then have it just float there indefinitely. You can swim through your own creations and then look at them from the other side.

This is one game we've been able to enjoy together. We've even added MP3s for our own soundtrack, though I haven't yet figured out how to get it to play more than one song on a dive (rather than repeating the same song until we go back up to the boat and change it).

The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is very laid back. If you're looking for active gaming, this is NOT your best option. But this game is sort of like watching a National Geographic video but getting to interact with it at the same time. It's definitely worth a look if you're into marine life or animals.

Peaceful--Pleasant--Wonderful!

What an absolutely wonderful game. I received "Endless Ocean" from my son for my birthday. I hadn't touched the Wii before (it was for the kids), but he insisted I play my new game. I've been hooked ever since! The controls are quick and easy to master and the game (especially with any one of the beautiful, included tracks playing) is relaxing and enjoyable after a long day of work.

As a side note, my son and I can now identify over thirty sea creatures on sight, and his interest in science and the natural world has been growing since we first fired up this selection!

I truly hope many more games like this one come out for the Wii.

Great for the kids

I bought this game for myself since I thought I would find it relaxing and educational. Since I have had it, my 14 yr old daughter plays it nonstop! She loves it. Mocking me in the beginning she thought there was no challenge to something like this. She was quickly intrigued by the graphics and tasks, and has since played it 10 times more than I .
The only problem I have had is feeling "sea sick", since the movement of the game has caused me a little motion sickness. Overall a great game, and I am impressed with what the Wii has to offer.

A++ Game!

I bought this game for myself because my 12 y/o son said it would be boring and had no action or violence to hold his attention. Yikes! Well, several minutes into the game my son took over and I didn't have a chance to play till severval days later. It is amazingly calming, soothing, EDUCATIONAL and yes, ENTERTAINING without violence. A truely refreshing experience. Our entire family LOVES IT! You won't be sorry...unless your a total freakazoid.

Mother APPROVED!!!

Fun, gets a little repetitive

After seeing several reviews of Endless Ocean, I went out and bought the game. At first, the game sucks you in with beautifully created underwater environments, with lots of coral eye-candy and lots of fish to make friends with. You use your wiimote to pet them, and then you get some information on the fish. However, you can only go a certain distance away from your boat, which is indicated by a circle on your map screen. This gets tedious when you have to return to your boat to keep exploring further and further away.

The music in the game is relaxing, although there are only several tracks you start with. I recommend using your SD card (If you have one)
and putting some MP3's on it so you have a larger music selection.

After playing the game for several hours, I got kind of bored with it. There are really no real challenges or goals in the game, you just pop in the game and then *bam* you're free to go wherever you want, do pretty much whatever you want. So, after I played the game for several hours, I got bored and sold it for a 5$ loss. Not too bad.

In conclusion, this game is pretty fun, it has good graphics and it is absolutely beautiful underwater, you will wish that you were there. I would recommend it for younger players, and watch some videos and look at more reviews before you buy the game, to make sure that it is something that you would want to play. don't waste 30 bucks on it. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

Relaxing and Even Educational

I love exploration games which is why I have found this particular one to be very fun. No time limits, no possibility of doing anything wrong, no pressure. Just swim around and discover what's out there in the vast ocean. The sealife in each area changes according to the time of day and the season so you can keep going back to the same areas to discover new things. The information about each creature is interesting too. I swim at the beach all the time and I never really knew just how many species there are out there.
The music is pretty if a little repetitive but you can put your own music in if you want.
The graphics underwater are very nice. Not so much on the boat but I didn't find myself caring so much about that.
The little storyline is actually rather short but once it's finished there are still things to do and explore.
I never want to meet up with a real colossal squid. Those things are creepy. But the idea that they do battle to the death with sperm whales is immensely amusing and awesome.
All in all, a fun, calm game.

Middle aged Mom likes to Snorkel...

I have done some snorkling and am always fascinated by the beauty of the reefs and tropical fish...this game recreates that experience. This is meant to be a relaxing, tranquil encounter with a little education thown in (you get to identify and learn about the sea life). I imagine many adults and children would enjoy this game but if you are a young, testosterone driven serious gamer, this isn't for you.

Absolutely wonderful.

Not a perfect scuba simulation, not a perfect game, not for those with an ADHD attention span. Instead what you get is an imaginative, engaging journey that few video games if any will approach in a commercial market. You spend your hours exploring the coral reef ecnountering fantastic adaptations of sea life from whales, octopus, dolphins, sharks, starfish, penguins, and a wealth of brilliant fish. There is on-line play, a modest plot of interest, and ability to play your own mp3s. Visually, the game is appealing despite the lower resolution graphics of the Wii system compared to other systems.

My only hope is that more games like this will surface in the gamer community.

Slow moving, but enjoyable

I was unsure about this game at first. I got it for my husband for Father's Day as he is a diver. I thought it was a little slow and not very exciting. HOWEVER, my husband loved it and my kids, ages 10, 8 and 7, absolutely love it. They would play it for hours if I let them. They have a blast finding new fish and other sea creatures. I highly recommend this game. It's nice to have a game that's not competitive at all.

Entertaining & Relaxing

A unique and beautiful game that allows you to explore a rather well-sized piece of ocean that includes reefs, deep trenches, caves, and sunken ruins. Playing the part of a professional diver, you will have the opportunity to interact with and identify many real-world creatures.

Though there is no "ultimate goal" in this game, you do have the opportunity to partake in some minigames, such as training a dolphin to do tricks, or taking clients to seek a particular fish. Satisfy your client, and you will be rewarded with a new piece of equipment to customize your diver's appearance.

Though the graphics seem a bit dated for what you would expect from such a visual-intensive game this day-and-age, it is still a breathtaking experience. And if the Enya-esque music isn't your style, you have the option of loading mp3's from an SD Card.

If you're tired of the high speed intensity of the majority of today's games, looking for something to just kickback and relax with, or love the idea of ocean exploration, I highly recommend this game.
