I bought this hoping to have something I could enjoy. I am not big into video games like my sons and husband are. I have spent hours in Mauna Lai, the game ocean, and am learning about all kinds of aquatic creatures. This game is a big puzzle and you have to find all the clues. It hones your powers of observation. My husband and son have fallen into it as well. We have each found things the others have not and enjoy watching someone play almost as well as playing it. I wish it was at least a 2 player game for more interaction. Great game!!

The change we're all looking for.....

I don't know about you but it's starting to bother me that most actually entertaining games require some degree of killing, maiming or otherwise harming the 'enemy'....and that there IS an enemy to begin with.
EO is not this way!
as a diver, its nice for me to be able to cheaply sort of do the same thing. i love the graphics and the basic premise.... you're not just killing time...you're supposed to be "working" but the most cush job you can imagine ;)

i love it.

a few cons.... KAT is more annoying than anything else. i wish she would fall off the boat - the dolphin is way cooler :D also the viz is a little annoying because you can't tell if it's going to be more ocean or a wall until you're RIGHTTHERE. :(

but i still love it :)

I purchased this game for my wife so she would have something to do with the Wii besides watch me play. She enjoys it and I have actually really enjoyed it as well. Calling it a game is a bit of a stretch as it is more of a "hanging out in the sea and looking at stuff" experience. One can do as much or as little as they like. Primarily, you pet fish and other sea life. You can also find treasure and artifacts or train your dolphin friends. Occasionally you will get requests for photos of sea life or to guide people on tours to look for specific fish.

The interface is intuitive and works quite well. It basically is a "point and go" motion with the remote. This easy design allows anyone to pick up the controller and start exploring with ease.

The graphics are pretty good for the Wii. They definitely maintain the feel of swiming around in the ocean. It is easy to get sucked in to some of the sequences.

The music gets old after some time, but you have the ability to swim to your own music files.

Overall, this game is quite fun. I gave it a four out of five due to the fact that I prefer a bit more "urgency" in a game. Others may prefer the laid back approach. It could be good for introducing young children to sea life, though I would let them know that it probably isn't okay to pet sharks. :-)

I bought this game on a whim, I wouldn't call myself a 'casual' gamer, but I'm not 'hardcore' either. I think this game falls in about the same place. It's not overly complicated and things open up and unlock as time goes on. You can use the SD card to import your own music to listen to while diving. A feature I actually haven't used yet as the two tracks of music there are quite good enough for me.

The game is best played when you're not looking for an adrenaline rush, but perhaps a calming time. Maybe this would best be spent reading a book, but one is not always in the mood for reading. You do have goals set within the game, but there aren't any time limits. In fact I think that hardest thing I've had to do in the game so far is to show someone around the ocean, and be sure to show them a specific fish, which was somewhat hard to find.

I won't rate the game as perfect, as I think some of the 'partner' AI (such as dolphin) could've been better, but as far as I've seen it's the best dolphin AI I've ever seen.

I'd recommend this mostly for someone who seems laid back, rather than an adrenaline junkie, but they might enjoy it too.

Much more than I expected

I bought this game for my eight year old daughter for her birthday. She loves going to the aquarium and looking at all the marine life. This game is like having your own giant aquarium in your TV! There is a twist to that however. Not only do you get to look at fish, and marine mammals of all kinds, you explore underwater caves, coral reefs, lagoons. You will find treasure, fossils, underwater villages. There is even night diving which only adds to the beauty of the deep. It's really amazing what they have done here. If you want to just swim and explore and check out the animals, you can do that till your hearts content. There are little "missions" that you can go on, that are given to you, via emails that you receive when you are on your boat. But you only do them, whenever you feel like it. The pace is EXTREMELY leasurely, but addictive. The music soothing yet powerful. It fits the game perfectly. My favorite part is that while the kids are playing this game, they are encouraged to learn about sealife. They are really enjoying this game, and at the bargain price, it's worth a serious look. If you or your kids are into the ocean, and its inhabitants, I think there is alot to be found in Endless Ocean.

I love this game. It is a great distraction when you're not in the mood to "risk your life" like in some of the other games out there (not that they aren't fun as well). It is really rather relaxing, but it also has a bit of adventure which is entertaining. I'm only about 15 hours into the game, and I sense that the adventure part is going to pick up even more.

One criticism I have is that the game encourages interaction with the sea life through touching or petting, which is not a good thing to do in the real world since it can injure fish, damage coral, etc. I understand the need to interact for the sake of the game, but I do wish there was a different way to do that so gamers don't take such activity to the real world if/when they have an opportunity to dive. I also have a really hard time putting any of the fish in the aquarium as requested by the game -- haven't put any in there yet. Just can't do it. Seems backwards. I'd rather free them from the aquarium! :-)

Overall, a really fun game. Not high on adrenaline but still quite entertaining. I can't wait to find out what I might see or discover next!

As other reviews have mentioned this game is not an action or shooting game, but it is a relaxing experience that can teach interesting things about the ocean and wild life. One important thing to mention is that the game will run in the language configured in the Wii, so if your Wii is configured to work in Spanish, all messages, screens and labels in the game will be in Spanish.

This is great for kids and parents. No fighting or violence of any kind. My 9 year old daughter can't get enough of it. Another great message to our kids about the planet and all it has to teach us.
