Halo Hype

Well Halo 2 came out and I beat it on normal almost in 9 hours. The levels are not actually that big, the hype over the AI was pointless. The game is still better than anything that PS2 or Gaycube will ever come out with but that is not saying much. Halo 2 Live sucks compared with playing LAN on Halo combat evolved. The Dual Wield is awesome but lets face it that is the only improvement. The graphics I believe are less impressive that the original. The ending was so bad in nearly died of laughter. One question, what the heck is with the plant monster from Little Shop of Horrors doing on the game?

The original Halo was the reason I decided to get an Xbox. Three years later Halo 2 is still the number one reason why I continue supporting the Xbox. First of all, I don't think there will ever be a game that matches up to the first Halo in terms of sheer fun. All the elements that make a game great were present in Halo; nevertheless, Halo 2 is also an excellent game that improves a lot of the elements that made Halo fun and expands them. Furthermore, Halo 2 continues the journey of Master Chief against the Covenant.

New weapons, new enemies, new places, new vehicles and almost new graphics make this one of the gems of Xbox gaming. And yet somehow I feel disappointed that I completed the game the first day that it came out just to find out that I was exactly where I started - just about to defend earth. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, on the contrary that is exactly what is keeping me anxiously waiting for Halo 3, but I just can't believe that we all have to wait for the next chapter of Master Chief's journey in order to find the grand conclusion to this incredible story.

Since I haven't experienced the multiplayer portion of the game I will not comment on that. Therefore I'm basing this review only on the single player portion of the game. Even if Halo 2 did not deliver all that I expected it still is the game that every gamer should play, and that every Xbox gamer should add to their collection.

this is the best game ever

Xbox Live for Halo 2 is great

Xbox Live for this game is awesome. I enjoyed playing the first Halo with my friends. Now I can go online and play many people very easily. You can play with 8 to 16 people in one room right away.

The matchmaking is different from most xbox live games. You choose the gametype you want to play ranging from slayer, team slayer, or other games and it will search for a game to place you in with other random people about your skill level. The only thing you can't do is choose the map you want to play. The rules are all default and that is also chosen for you. I think it's a little harder because most people dont talk alot, and you leave them after the match is over to play another match.

There is a clan feature for this game so you can join or make a clan with a max of 100 people. A clan is nice if you want to get to know people more personally. It would also be easier to play team games with people you know since it would be easier to communicate with them and develope stratagies.

You still have the option to host a game or go to a hosted game, but you can only play with people on your friends list. That's the only way you can choose the map everyone wants to play and customize the rules in deep detail.

Skill level is the ranking system for this game. The more you win, you gain experience points or if you lose, you lose experience points. Your skill level helps you find people around your skill level to play with on matchmaking. Skill levels are also your stats in the game. There is also the leaderboard for the top people on Halo 2

You can view your stats in detail at bungie.com. It shows your skill level for each type of game and the information for each indivdual games you played since the first time you played till the last time you played. The information shown for each indidual game can show you who you played, the winners, and other detailed informations. Bungie made a very nice system for stats.

Overall, Xbox Live will make you Halo 2 experience last longer since you have the ability to play with many people very easily. The campain mode is fun also, but some people complained that the ending sucks. You can also play campain with one friend online. If you love or hate the campain, xbox live will insure your Halo 2 purchase was fulfilling for many months.

P.S.
My gamertag is Jetfalcon, just in case you see me in matchmaking.

Great game, but did not live up to the hype.

Here's a good, honest, detailed review on every aspect of Halo 2.

The game is a great game, a great sequel, but obviously did not live up to the hype. Despite its flaws, it will remain on the bestseller list for months.

Gameplay: The gameplay is not much different from its predecessor. There are a few upgrades, including the suit upgrade which the health bar has been taken out and instead, there's just an energy shield. Another improvement is duel wielding. Not much of an innovation, but can be extremely effective at portions of the game. The game does not seem to be as repetitive as its predecessor; it constantly delivers new suspenseful elements that keeps the gameplay fresh and addictive.
The single player, though short, and the story ends with a suprising halt, still will keep the gamer coming back.
The multiplayer is arguably the best portion of the game. The battles are suspenseful and keeps the gamer coming back for more. The multiplayer really keeps Halo 2's replay value stick out.
A great disappointment within the game is the lack of time you actualy spend fighting the covenant on earth. There are only about 2 levels which you will be spending your time fighting on earth.

Sound: The sound is also another great portion of the game. Not only does it feature brilliant voice acting and voice overs, it also features some exceptional sound effects. The gun shots, plasma guns, vehicles, etc all have realistic and powerfully convincing sound effects that keeps the suspense and action real. The music is also very well done. The music fits through every scene, with a mix of electronic and instrumental; the perfect mix for Halo 2.

Graphics: The graphics are not as amazing, but stil very well done. Character textures are covincingly detailed and very well done. Particle/explosion/gunfire effects look amazing, but sometimes, the explosions look slightly boxy and pixelated. There are also other visual glitches throughout the game. Because the loading feature between levels have been excluded from Halo 2, objects, textures, and other elements in cutscenes have been popping in random portions of cutscene sequences ubiquitously. Not only does this occur in cutscenes, but also in gameplay; textures change and sharpen, etc. This minor flaw can be annoying at times, but for the most part, the graphics are well done and integrated within the gameplay.

Overall, Halo 2 isn't revolutionary; it isn't anything new, and it isn't anything too innonative. Not to say that its a bad game, it surely is one of the best first person shooters available on the xbox. Make sure to include this in your videogame library.

Well as for as the story it's ok. not the best story every. i really didn't like how we have to wait until 2006 for halo 3. but oh well. bungie added some more stuff that was pretty cool. but the thing i love about halo 2 is the online play. i can stay up for hours playin online. tryin to get your rankings up. this game is worth buying. but i'm letting you guys know now that the campain mode kinda bits. but fun at the same time. but if ur gonna get it get it for online use cause it will blow your mind

Ok, I have been reading the reviews, and I have to say that most of the bad reviews come either from people that do not like FPS's, or that say the game was "to easy" Answer to both comments.

-Halo 2 and Halo are only easy if you play them on the easy setting. There are four settings. The reason it is so easy is because you set it on easy. This is nice if you just want to see the story, and don't care about how hard it is at the moment. But when you set it on legendary, you will get your face kicked in. Another thing you can do, and it is worth it, is get x-box live. There are so many people out there who play, and chances are, you will find a very hard game.

-And also, if you do not like first person shooter games, you will not like this. If you like games that rely on stealth and cunning, this is not it. In this game, you go around shooting everything and everyone. Nuf said.

-Over all, this was an awesome game, and a great buy.

Hi! This game really impressed me. Bungie did a great job in mixing in a hijacking theme. The only downside is that the vehicles can explode. I like this game a lot. Xbox live is a must, though. Don't get me wrong, I like campaign mode a lot, but I prefer online more. The only problem is that when you get this game, you can't stop playing it. It is just too much fun!

Best first person shooter

I can't imagine anyone giving this game less than 5 stars. Hands down the best shooter game EVER. I only played the "storyline" version of the game for a few hours before switching to X-box live. Unbelievable graphics, play control, and varity of wepons/ vehicles. Not to mention the number of different games you can choose from in X-box live (capture the flag, Team Slayer, Neutral bomb, Territories...... and many others) If you like online FP shooters I would definatly reccomend this game. Buy it today.

Halo 2 has be 1 of the best games I have ever played and heres why.

Halo 2 has great story. It drags a little in the middle of the game, but the gameplay is so good that you forget. The worst part is the ending. Many people complain, and it is awful.

The multiplayer is best on Xbox Live and I have it. It is awesome. The rating system is great. Playing with people (winning too) is fun.

I give this game overall a 10 out of 10.
