Alright, i've been hearing some people say they are pissed that the game hasn't come yet because it's "shipped" already. You guys need to listen up right now: When Amazon.com says "your purchase is being shipped", then that doesn't mean it has shipped to YOU, it means it has shipped to your local UPS or FED EX. Goodness, people, don't cry about it.
Otherwise, I went to my friend's house because i was still waiting for the game to come, and it is the best game i have ever played. the sound, gameplay, lighting, graphics: everything. it is the best.
Halo 2 is the best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm frusterated with the people who say don't give this game 5 stars before it is out, you haven't even played it yet, how can you give a game a rating before it is even out. Well now its out and I'm giving it 5 stars because it is the best game I've ever played. There are so many twists and turns. Plus playing as an Elite just makes the game a whole lot intresting, and now I don't have people nagging on me saying "don't give it a rating because its not out yet."
An atrocity to my beloved franchise.

I have been a huge Halo fan boy ever since I saw screens running on Apple Hard ware in the late 90s. When Halo moved on to the XBOX it was the very thing that prompted to me to go out and purchase said console. The game for me was revolutionary, and gave me years of system link fun. Halo 2 however, is a horrid piece of trash. This does not come from someone who hates Xbox, or the Halo series, but from a fateful fan who feels disinfranchised. First off none of the touted story line of an epic battle on earth even appears in the game, with the exception of a haphazardly thrown together joke of a level in the beginning. Secondly the graphics though noticeable better, glitch in and out distracting, and detracting during the horribly scripted cinema sequences. The story line is pure and utter pedestrine bs, that could have come better prepared by a couple of three year old's let loose with felt tip markers and giant poster boards. The campaign mode is boring, and the highly touted AI is downgraded to such a point now, that is possible to jump past entire levels of enemies without once firing your weapon. Not too mention, now your teams AI is downgraded, their ability or I should say inability to maneauveur vehicles ruins all aspects of using your troops tacticly. While Halo ones levels could be monotonos they did have an epic feel and provoked exploration, this game however is so linear, that it drives you to just run and gun ignoring the small but at time intriquing environments. Now, some are going to hate me for my next comment, but it must be said, the new weapons are a disaster. While I entriely enjoy the new covenant weapons, as well as a few tweeks to the existing ones, the human weapons have either been removed or downgraded. The new assault rifle is not only underpowered, but the lack of ammunition throughout the campaign (and multiplayer for that matter) voids it entirely useless. The downgraded magnum is left in the game but without a scope and is so powerless now that it is nothing more than a slap in the face for those who were skilled enough to own with it in the first game. Finally the rocket launcher has now become a weapon of little to no skill. One of the things I once prided myself during multiplayer Halo one was my ability to gauge where the enemy would be and kill them half way across the map with it. Gone is this skill, and replaced is the overpowerful, and at times absurd lock on rocket. Because of all these changes the only thing that remains remotely fun about the game is multiplayer ctf with vehicles, as myself as well as friends rarely bother with the crappy aresenal. I urge all who were excited about this game and have not yet been duped into buying it to at least rent it, especially if you do not have XBOX live which appears to be its only real saving grace.
The dvd isn't worth the extra money but the case is...

I have my complaints about Halo 2. That's not what this review is about though.
The bonus dvd is so lame. You get some weirdos talking about nothing really, and then there is the whole E3 bit. They showed how everyone thought it was awesome. They picked the people in the audience who were drooling pizza grease over the game and interviewed them. Up until this point, it's just boring. But, then the music video starts. It has footage of E3 and how everyone is in awe (come on). This is just the backdrop to some emotional song by one of the latest generic rock bands.
The case is cool though; I really liked it! The case was more fun to look at than playing the game was.
Go ahead and give me a 0 star rating you goofy Halo lovers!
Just to be contrary....

Some reviewers want you to believe that Halo 2 isn't what it's cracked up to be just because first person shooters have been around on the PC for years. In fact, just to disagree with a previous reviewer, FPS's have been around a lot longer than 1997. That doesn't, however invalidate the qualities of this game. I am an Ubergeek and own all of the major console and PC FPS games that have been released this year, and can personaly verify that this is, by a huge margin, the best. I have a PC fully capable of running Doom 3 and Half Life 2 at full specs, and they are, in a word, disapointing. Pretty, sure, but absolutely nothing to set them apart. The exeption to this is Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, which has an excellent story. In fact, if I had to name the two best FPS's this year, both would be console games, the second being Killzone for the PS2 (Tre Bien). Halo 2 has wonderful graphics, a great story, A.I. that rocks, and a multi-player mode better than anything else seen to date. There are a few down sides, of course. Level design is still a bit repetative (Like the first Halo) and they seem to be designed with the sole intention of firefights breaking out in them. As for people saying that it's just an extension of the first game, I say: How is that a bad thing? More of a good thing (especialy with improvements) can only be a good thing, right? Do yourself a favor and buy this game instead of Doom 3 or Half Life 2, especialy if you have Xbox live. You won't regret it.
Loved it

All right, I'm taking a break from the game to write this. OMG, I never thought I would flip over a game like I have for Halo 2. I never really liked shooter genre games. I was one of those skepticle people with a high level of reluctancy because a certain friend suggested I get it. He's made suggestions in the past that I wish he hadn't. But when I heard of some "HALO" parties he's attended, I figured I give it a try and peep what all the hype was about. I got a new Xbox solely to check out the Halo 2 special edition. Man, the hype is WELL deserved. Let me put it to you guys this way; I've been searching for Halo 2 T-shirts for a couple days since my experience with this game. I even bought the soundtrack because the music in the game is just cool. I'd give this game 10 stars if I could. If you haven't got this game yet, what are you waiting for? The graphics, the music, the game play, the multi-player console to console hook-up game play (two televisions needed), Xbox Live capabilities, and all the other pros. I can't stop playing it, and when it's done, I'm going to play it again. Halo 2 made me go buy Ghost Recon Island Thunder and Ghost Recon 2. I will get any other war or shooter genre type Xbox game because NOW I've grown fond of this stuff. The guys at Bungie hit the nail on the head. I just hope if there's a Halo 3, it'll be as good, if not BETTER! I just hope my PS2 doesn't feel rejected. Okay, gotta go play Halo 2 now.
Excellent sequel to Halo

This was an excellent game. The addition of the various types of vehicles was pretty nice. This is the best first person shooter I've played period. Being able to hold two weapons was pretty nice. Would have liked the ability to cloak as Master Chief. I really enjoyed being able to play on the other side as the Arbitar. I still think there is a lot to explore in the baground of the story behind the rings. I'll read the books to really find out what is going on in the Halo universe. Whoever makes Halo 3 will need to really create some new characters and villians for the game. It would be nice to see Master Chief being able to control an actual squad of marines in Halo 3.
Some things for Halo 3:
1. Cloaking armor for Master Chief
2. Squad control
3. New Villians
4. New Villians
5. A longer story
6. Balanced weapons (energy sword was the most powerful weapon)
7. More vehicles
Great Game!

I have played all the way through the single-player campaign and also through it in Co-Op mode (Cooperative), and played split sdreen and Xbox live. It has the best graphics and controls along with an in depth storyline and great action gameplay.
Graphix: 10/10
Replay Value: 10/10
