Great game, But first Halo is still a lot more superior.

I ended up playing the 2nd halo before playing the first, and i found it to be a really good game, however 2 nights ago i decided to check out the first one, and after about 10 minutes i had a total epiphony.
The first halo is a lot better!
The graphics, soundtrack, story, overall intensity and gameplay is much much better for the first in the series than it was for the second
So my advice to anyone curious about these games is play the first one first. I can see people playing the second and wondering what all the hype was about (considering i'm thinking the same thing they are right now) But the second halo is a very good game and i don't mean to bash it all, it doesnt deserve a bashing, it deserves to be redone to be on par with the first one.

There don't seem to be many reviews mainly on Halo 2 on XBOX Live, so here's mine.
First of all, unlike in Halo PC, there's barely any lag, except for when you have a lot of people in a closed area, like Midship or Lockout, or you're playing Big Team Battle on matchamaking.
On to matchmaking...
I think it's very well set up, there are many different modes you can choose from, such as Team Skirmish, Team Training, Team Slayer, Rumble Pit, Rumble Training, Big Team Battle, Head to Head, and Minor and Major Clanmatches. This is the only thing that kept it from having 5 stars in my eyes. The only problem I have with their matchmaking is that you can't choose things like what gamemode or course you get thrown onto, which I don't like that much. I think they could've improved it by allowing you to choose general things like what course you would like to play on and what game mode you would want to do.
Clans...
I think clans are a really good idea. On Halo PC, the only way to show you were in a clan was to put the intials of your clan in front of your name, then you'd have to join it on their website. Now, in Halo 2, you can invite people online into your clan, and it doesn't affect their name or anything, and when you select their name it'll say what clan they're in next to they're name in parentheses. Clans can only have 100 members, which I think is a good idea, because clans could just get out of control.
Bugs...
There's only one bug I could find with the XBOX Live. Every once in a while this blue screen will come up that says Setting Up Game. This can be one of two things (or so I've heard). Either a.) Someone turned off their XBOX without signing out of Live/Getting out of that game. Or b.) Someone is hacking, and what they do is, that screen comes up for everyone except for the hacker, or the hacker's team, meaning they could win a game while all the other people in that game have that "blue screen of doom." I'm pretty sure they'll offer a downloadable fix for that.
Ranking...
This is what shows your "skill" on Halo 2 on XBOX Live. I personally am an 11. The highest you can be is a level 50. You gain levels by winning games, basically. This is done very simply. Let's say you're playing a game with 8 people. If you come in first, you get experience points for beating everyone else. If you come in second in that, you lose experience points for losing to the first place person, but gain points for beating everyone that came after you. Guests can't play in ranked games.
Custom Games...
Custom games are what they are, custom games. Anyone can play in custom games (guests). Custom games aren't ranked, and you can't make them ranked (you could cheat and bring your level up). They're very fun, but sometimes get a little laggy. You can choose to make the game, Open, Invite Only, or Closed. With all the new game modes, these games are very fun.
Overall, if you have high speed internet, XBOX, and $70, buy XBOX Live and Halo 2. Halo 2 isn't the only great game on XBOX Live, but it is one of the best if not the best. Personally I think its the best.
If you want to talk to me or play me on XBOX Live, my gamertag is Renegade1543
Exciting yet i am left wanting more

Halo2 was from what i saw the most hyped about game. Just about a month and a half before it came out i recieved my X-box and Halo. I beat Halo in about a week, and began to wait for Halo2. Everybody in my school talked about it and was just as eager as i was to get it. Finally the ninth arrived and most of my friends got the game, save me i recieved it on the eleventh. I had extpected this game to feature the master cheif saving the earth from the covenant. I get somthing totally different. I can play as an elite (Dream come true). This totally upped the games excitment, i loved playing as an elite. When we return to the cheif, he's on another Halo ring. Ok the game is called Halo but hey didn't we do this already but its a different expirence on Halo and change is good. One would think being on another Halo ring would be boring but it really is not, nothing is the same when you play in different scenery, duel weapons and my faveriot, energy swords. Master cheif has a totally different experiance on the ring as well as the covenant Holy city High Charity. What makes the Halo experiance even more fun is the playing as the covenant aspect. I wont give away any more but the game rocks. Now the cons that took the one star. This game as great as it is, is far too easy. It took me a week to beat Halo and only a day to beat this one "In Normal." Now normal is not as hard as heroic and legandary but given the time it took me and i'm not the best player, the game was a tad to easy on you. My last criticism. The end was rushed. The levels nearing the end save Grave Mind, are very short, seems like they were rushed to me. Others may think differently and i respect that, but that is my opinion. Other then those cons this game beats all contenders and pretenders, oh and, Killzone guy, get a clue.
Short yet pleasing!

This game is easilly the best game I have ever played. The story is pretty good, and so is the sound, graphics and aliens. The Brutes are big and powerful. The Grunts are still fun to kill, the shield guys (can't remember their name) have an awesome sniper rifle. This is in my favourite game list with Halo, Half-life and Max Payne. Its very short but you should enjoy it. O yea, the music is incredible.

Come on guys! This is the best game in the world! (except perhaps Doom 3 and Half-Life 2) The graphics are simply superb, the gameplay is great, too. The online is emensly fun, and the single player is incredible. Granted, it is a short game, but it is well worth the wait, and the fifty five bucks for the special edition. The extra features are extremely informative, and the box is even cooler. Many people said that the single player is too short, well, PLAY IT AGAIN!!! It really is that simple. It is greatly different on a higher difficulty, and if you want a challenge, do it on legendary. This game surpasses even the first in value, and it can never be replaced (except with Halo 3 :)
great fun not the best

Honestly. Don't write a review if you hate it. Opinions vary and that is true. And it is also true that this game is like every other one released. Whast the difference? Better graphics, better gameply, and by far a greater story than the First Halo. Apparently some play games to often and don't appreaciate the hard work of game developers. If this gam bores you that much try Doom3(for graphics) or Finalfantasy 11 (for gameplay and overall fun).

Halo 2 - Circa 2004
GOOD:
- Play over Xbox-Live (and has downloadable content)
- Really balanced gameplay
- Graphics look great (Doom 3/Half Life 2 quality)
- Use two handguns at once (action movie style)
- Make or edited your own multiple player matches, and even play them online
- Considered an instant Classic to many Video Gamers today
- A.I. is challenging but not overpowering
- Total upgrade over the original, which was considered a classic by many
BAD:
- "To be continued ending" did not play well with the fans
- Sometimes gameplay can get a little repetitive
- Lack of real variety in enemies
- Liner level design
- Gameplay wise not too much has changed since the original
IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE:
- Sci-Fi military FPS where you fight off an alien race who wants you dead, similar to Starship Troopers, Aliens (Alien 2).
- Play as an enemy trooper in some levels
- Only get to carry 2 weapons at a time (but if using two handguns, three at a time)
- Drive vehicles, such as tanks jeeps and alien spacecraft
- Online play over Xbox-Live also system link and spilt screen available
- Co-op play (only on system link or spilt screen)
- Cool looking metal disc case
GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:
- Halo
- Doom 3
- Area 51
- Star Wars: Republic Commandos
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- This Special edition comes with some behind the scenes stuff
- Note when you play online you never really get to pick and choose who you (or your team) versus in the matches, the Xbox dose almost all the setting up, some like this others hate it.
Wow Bungie you really [...] up this time..
