Chump Of The Year- Over-Hyped RPG

Morrowind for the Xbox is a role-playing game (RPG)where you can play it from a first person perspective or third-person. I truly hate this game, but first let me tell you the good points. The graphics are really good, complimented with excellent music. The worlds you travel on are HUGE and expansive, there are so many places to explore. There are tons of items you can aquire, or purchase, I mean tons! Morrowind also does a good job of showing a rich detailed history with lots of non-player characters (NPCs) you will interact with. But the fun ends right there because everything else about this game is garbage! It will clock your Xbox system to the max, you'll hear constant access to the hard drive and cd-drive, the game's performance is horrible; with lots of slow-down and severe drop in framerate. Loading a level takes FOREVER, it has the longest loading time of any Xbox game out there! There is little character speech, so you should expect to do a lot of reading inside the game- lots and lots! PSONE games have way more speech than this! There are tons of useless items you can collect! Just grabbing items is a chore because you have to aim your crosshairs with pin-point accuracy (its a pain just to grab plants or flowers) The animation is like an old Nintendo game! The game controls are sluggish like the framerate! The sound effects are cheap and sparse! The NPCs stand around like fools doing nothing! The NPCs are always rude and annoying "What do you want?" "Stop bothering me". They will act nice to you only if you give them money (they're all a bunch of gold diggers!). Your character will get stuck to objects! There are clipping problems as well with the graphics! The combat is boring and stupid as heck! You hit once, they you once and on it goes! The weapons lack power and impact. I stand by my reviews and I don't care what other Morrowind fans say about it.

WORST Rpg EVER

This is the WORST Rpg I have ever played.
Cons:
Horrible graphics {Xbox is capable of soooo much more}
Horrible dialog {when you talk to people they say really dumb things.}

In order to save time i will just say that almost everything about this game sucked and if you want a fun rpg go pick up fable.

PS. the good thing about this game is that you can create male and female characters. And there is alot of free exploring. but fable is soooooooooooooooo much better.

I'm suprised so many people like this game!

Hardly anyone's mentioned the fact that this game requires you to read every single thing in order to understand what's going on!! I don't know about you, but I thought video games were made so that people could relax ... not strain your eyes in order to read every single frickin thing the townspeople have to say. It's absolutely ridiculous!! I don't like reading textbooks, so why would they think I'd like to read 200 million pages of dialogue, in which half of it is probably useless anyways. Not to mention the 20 million things you can ask the townspeople about. Little secret? Little rumor? Someone specific? Specific location? I don't know what half of those mean, let alone where to start!! I don't know how this got game of the year award ... maybe because it was 2002, and games like Knight of the Old Republic still hadn't come out yet ... but I see hardly any value to it (...). I bought the game once, decided I didn't like it because you can't see your character when you fight, then bought it again to give it another try ... found out that you can change the character viewpoint, but it causes you to move around clumsily instead (since the game's really made for 1st person view) ... got even more frustrated, and turned the game off. When I think of RPG's, I think Final Fantasy, etc. This game doesn't even come close and was quite a disappointment.

This game can keep you behind the TV screen for literally hundreds of hours until that one fateful day whan you realized that the Xbox freezing up has reached the point where you really cant proceed in the gameplay. There is really nothing worse than having to hang it up after so many hours of truely wonderful gameplay never having seen the end.

I Really Wish I Could, But...

I know, I know, it won a game of the year award, it is critically acclaimed... but, really, who cares what the critics think? I personally did not like this game. Heck, I couldn't even get an hour of good gameplay in before I fell asleep... and yes, I did fall asleep (no joke!). So basically, if you want to go around a pointless world killing little crayfish that paralyze you, all the more power to you, but that really didn't do it for me.

Pros:
-Interesting... at first
-3D person / 1st person view preference
-Amazing graphics (well, on the water)
-Fast load screens

Cons:
-Poor, repetitive sound
-Tedious combat
-Repetitive, almost absent music
-Weird and annoying fatigue meter
-Game sometimes drags
-Odd, confusing conversation interface
-No ability to lock on to objects
-No warning that you will be attacked by about 2 billion people if you commit a crime.

In summary, I did not like this game. This is one of the few that I've had high expectations for, actually. So, no, I would not recommend this game. But who knows? You may like it.

This would be a great game if it didn't freeze up over 12 times per hour of gameplay. It freezes up after a certain point in the game, and will not let me play any further.

This game sucks

I spent hours upon hours of walking around in this game. Plus, the combat system was terrible. It took literally 10 tries to hit someone. The cities were way to large, and the maps were very confusing. Unless you want to spend HOURS walking around and jumping, pass this game up.

2nd most dissapointing XBOX game I've played

As an RPG player, as a video game player, I found little endearing in this title from any standpoint. While level settings gaphics are fairly well done, active graphic entities are shoddy. Further annoying is the music in this game (man, turn it off!!) and the dialougue of it's charachters, and especially the NPCs who swivel expectantly, each time you pass them as if they have greased poles in their rear ends and blurt something worthless(which reminds you again that you wish you were able to hit the MUTE button)-not very effective! Movement is stiff and clumbsy, combat is borring, incorporating the same unrealistic movements, in every situation.

It's hard to comment on plot for this game, because I never noticed one developing; any books or leaflets, etc, I came across, I had to quickly skim through without reading them-even there things were written very poorly. I found nothing compelling enough, nothing pressing or interesting enough to make me curious to try the sequential missions...I sold this game for a loss of about $10, after about a week.

Although, I think maybe some new ground was broken in this title for RPG adventure video gaming, it did not transfer over to gameplay well, at all-and the bad points of play far out weigh those things. -Again, I'd say this game is a basic annoyance.

Bugs and crawling....

With far too many bugs and crashes and the slowest load times of any save games ever seen on the XBOX this game is basicly unplayable by all but the most patient or fanatical.
