Morrowind was a huge hit on XBOX but two expansion packs plus patches fixing bugs and adding some additions and such was for PC and morrowind GOTY will have all of that and you can continue any save from morrowind! And then you should trade in morrowind or give it to a friend who can't afford it. Sound worth it too me! This game comes out on October 17th, 2003! Roll on, Morrowind GOTY!
A great RPG, if you have TIME!

This game is essential for anyone who considers oneself a real fan of RPG (role playing games). It compacts real time, weather and many many different quests so that the user will absolutely never play the same game twice. Don't get me wrong - it has it's drawbacks like cheesy graphics here and there. Or the fight sequences, giving the user ALL the control isn't always the best thing. I love Final Fantasy Games, but as a fan this is not that alley way. For hard core RPG fans it is crucial to check this out. Definately those who own an Xbox should rent it and make a character. Decide for a bit of money by renting whether you should slap the full amount down to buy it. But believe you won't regret it, since it easily has over a hundred hours of game play! And that is just with one character. If you need strict direction, you may get lost with too many choices. But if you love the freedom a game has never had like this before - this may be the right RPG for you.
This is the best...for now

Seriously, the only thing I found negative about Morrowind was the fact that the graphics weren't all that magical. But everything else is fantastic! The amount of freedom in this game gives me wood. It is a great feeling to immerse oneself into an entirely different world. I haven't even finished 1/3 of the game and I've done so much. I really like the fact that I got my own house built for me. I can arrange all my cool weapons there and lock precious stuff in chests. Its the best. And now there is going to be an extra 80 hours or so added to this amazing game!! And this is my first time round!! I haven't even become a vampire yet. Now they are giving the option of becoming a werewolf. This game will last me until Fable comes out, and even then I will still be playing it. Guaranteed. And I do have a girlfriend. And she is hot. Hotter than you.
This game rocks!!!

I will admit I was a bit tied up at times with school but if possible make time. This game is roughly over a hundred hours of game play. If you are a true hard core RPG fan and you have an XBOX you will buy this game; That is an order. The class race and skills system is incredibly and undoubtably the best. From a rugged head strong Nord adventurer to a Mage with a wide spread magic system you can be just about anything. Just travelling to a city close by can take hours and quests are endless it seems. Though the battle sequences are a bit boring and take years(not literally)and are stiff action. That was the only draw back I can come up with.
The bartering in this game is very realistic aswell. Shop owners or traders only have so much monet=y and buy and sell things at jacked up prices. Most are lucky who find rich traders. There are many diffrent and beautiful scenery and surroundings. From rocky grass lands to steep jagged grey mountains and lakes that look as though they are real. This game gives you the great RPG feeling that RPG fans have awaited for.
What realy intrigues alot of people is the race and class system. You can take a series of questions that chooses your race from your answers, you can choose it yourself , or you can make your own from choosing diffrent skills that gives your character its distinct diffrences and race. I've touched up on most that there is without a story and with Tribanul and Bloodmoon well on the way there will be even more RPG fun to be had in the wide spread world of Morrowind(which is actually is only a country surrounded by about 5 other large world like countries)This game will reign suppreme amongst all the RPG games.
The Game of the Year version is the way to go

I love the game, but there are some serious bugs that have totally hindered the game for me. The Game of the Year version includes all of the patches that were released for the PC which would have been good enough for me. On top of that, however, they added 2 additional game modules that add on at least 80 more hours of play. This game has the most long term play value of any game I have played on the XBox. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic had the best storyline, epic feel, but I haven't bothered to replay it after I beat it. While I haven't beaten Morrowind yet, I will I keep on playing when I do beat it because its open ended nature means you can keep going.
Greatest Game EVER Made!!!!!!

Greatest RPG Ever. Hundreds of hours of gameply. Each time you play is a unique experience. It does not get any better than this!!!!! If your game freezes a lot try an Xbox with a SAMSUNG drive. (Samsung best, Phillips decent, Tomson sucks).
bugs!

i have played the game of the year xbox edition for a little over an hour now, it has seriously crashed twice ( game totally freezes, had to reboot the xbox), i just turned it off in frustration.even worse is the eternal loading times (feels like close to five minutes to reload after you die) and the slowdown problems (game stutters constantly). i put about 40 hours into the original xbox morrowind and i didnt have any problems like this with it, this is very disappointing....

Having already dedicated countless hours to the Game of the Year XBox edition of Morrowind, I'll summarize the major PROS and CONS as follows:
PROS
* Graphics and sounds are more than adequate for the game, the graphics far surpassing the sound.
* The gameplay is open-ended. You can follow the various quests or go off and explore on your own. The quests are actually fun and often somewhat humorous in nature.
* The land is HUGE and the terrain varied and really interesting. You could spend hours and hours just exploring.
* The items, spells, and NPCs are all interesting and well thought-out with interesting results when interacting. For example, if you steal something from an NPC it will like you less.
* The game is solo, so if you don't like dealing with bad attitudes online in RPGs like Everquest, you'll love this game.
* You can save as much as you want, which certainly comes in handy if you need to backtrack because you did something wrong.
* Creating your own spells and enchanting your items is a very cool way to customize your gameplay.
* Game cheats are available, which can be helpful in some situations.
CONS:
* The game locks up ALOT! This can be VERY annoying and requires you to save every few minutes to ensure you don't lose your accomplishments. I've had the game lock up more than 5 times in a few hours of play.
* Leveling up can be very tedious and time-consuming. It's easier to level-up by simply repeating an action (such as jumping for acrobatics) than to expect level-up from regular gameplay. The rewards gained from leveling are also quite minimal, except in the very long run.
* You'll likely need to use the internet as a resource for finding certain places (and perhaps to understand how to solve a quest); otherwise, you may spend hours and hours running around just trying to find a small dungeon entrance because the locations aren't always described well and you must "discover" terriroty to see it on your map.
* The loading time can take about 60 seconds, so if you find yourself dying several times in a particular spot, you'll spend more time watching the load screen than playing.
* Casting spells is tedious. You need to switch to the spell screen, select spell, go back to game, cast...then repeat for each different spell.

This game is amazing! First off, the GOTY edition offers tons of new weapons, armor, quests, and characters. Unfortunatley the GOTY edition also offers HUGE loading times and it locks up alot (for me at least). The ammount of stuff to do in the game is rediculous. You can kill, steal or talk to anyone and anything you want. That alone could be the game. But theres aklso quests (which dont have to be done) to add to the enjoyment. Its a very open ended game with tons of hours of gameplay. Best RPG out there... that is until Fable is realeased.
