I bought my playstation 2 to play EA Sports NBA Live 2001 and was utterly disappointed. A person recommended this game to me and I was admittedly leary about getting it. One, I did not like the Madden Series of games. Two, NBA Live was so bad that I feared another EA title would be just as bad for PS 2. I was wrong. This is a great game. The designers clearly made the game for the PS 2 for the graphics are great, the gameplay smooth and the 360 degree replay camera is the best thing I have ever seen in a game.
True the offense rules, but if you draft some good corners or get a great one in trade or free agency the game is fine. The best thing about the game after the graphics is what I just described: the GM mode, when you are in franchise play, you can draft and manage salary caps and trade players, picks, etc. It is great.

I was very impressed with ea commitment to becoming the best sports gaming company. Madden 2001 for PS2 goes far as solidifying their gaming tile. The graphics are fantastic. The only problem I have with this title is the lack of Human defense. I am amazed at how my cornerbacks lack the tendency to stay with there man. the computers offensive line picks up a your blitz every time. QB sacks are rare the Computer always release and completes a pass when your man is about to put the qb in the hospital. but these are little things that can be tweaked for future releases. I love the franchise mode I have taken several franchise from the bottom to the top and kept within the salary cap. If you are a real football fan, you have to have this one.

Madden 2001 is one of the greatest video games out there. The attention to detail is incredible and the game play is fun and true to football. There are tons of features and the Madden Challenge adds a great aspect to the game. Examples of what makes this game great: you can run the ball and you can call a fair catch on a kick off. That may sound insignificant, but Madden is a football sim. If you want an arcade football game play NFL2K1 on the "swirl". Just like in real life Madden is what football should be.

This is the best sports game that I have played to date. The graphics are absolutely amazing. The gameplay is terrific. It is almost like you are watching a real game and controlling the players. Another thing that is really cool is the commentary. Madden and Summeral do the play by play and it is the best that I have ever heard. The comments are totally relavent to what is going on, on the field. I haven't noticed any serious repetition yet, but I have only had the game for a weekend. I think if there is one spot the game is lacking, it is in online play, but the modem peripheral for the PS2 isn't going to be out for a while, so it's kinda harsh to fault the game for that. Maybe next year.

Madden 2001 for PS2 is the best football game out there. The controls are easy, and you can make big plays easily. The running game is superb. The passing game is great. The stadiums are detailed down to the last bit of grass. If you look at the sidelines you can see the tables with the Gatorade containers on them, and everybody in the stands have emotion. This game is truly Madden and fun to play.

The game play is great! The create a player kicks so bad that it could leave you there for a hour doing so. The only problems I found in it was it took to much time to save and load and the controls somehow seem to change during the game. Overall, it is a fun 4+ player game as well as 1 or 2 players.

Madden 2001 is THE best football game out there. The graphics will blow you away and the gameplay is on point. But thats not all! The sound is terrfic. When a player gets tackled, you can really feel and hear it. The only problem with this game is the commentary. Pat Summerall and John Madden sound so lame. They show no emotions like the commentary in the NFL Gameday games. Overall, Madden is one game that you have to get for your PS2. I hope they will fix the problems on Madden 2002

This game is the best football game and overall game I have ever played. There are millions of reasons you should buy this, but I'll list a few.
1.The graphics. It's almost like you're watching a real football game. When the players move, creases form where they should, on close-ups, you can see the small mesh holes in the jersey, the lights shine off of the players' helmets. Every tackle looks real, unlike all the other football games, which have tacky tackles that look bad.
2.The gameplay. Easy to learn, tough to master. Although I have mastered it. If you think it's too easy, take a team like the Eagles and try to beat the Titans or Rams. I beat the titans 52-14 in 5 minute quarters. 300 yards rushing.
3.The franchise mode. Franchise is one of the best features that comes with the Madden series. It's been there since Madden 2000 for the N64, but it has improved since. You can create players that have come in that year on the draft, or trade them if something big happens in the season. Plus you manage everything from re-signing to drafting players from season to season.
4.The realism. When you're running with the ball, and have a defender hit you, press the juke, hurdle, or spin buttons. You may break it. Unlike other games where you'd just bowl over guys for a broken tackle, this game makes you fight for the breaking of the tackle and when you come out of it, you go with what fake you tried to use. Also, the QBs can break tackles from time to time, so if you get hit by a big defensive lineman, don't let go of your controller and think about the next play, try to fake him, you could get out of it.
5.The one disappointment. Well not really, but yeah. The coach's challenge. It is run by the computer and almost never happens. It has happened to me once, and if it does to you, you will be impressed. And so was I. It's just too bad it can't be manually controlled or happen more often. But when it does, you get replays from every angle, and you have disagreement between the referees.
All in all, the best footbal game ever!!!
