Madden Delivers Again

This edition of Madden offers more than it ever has and that is thanks to the PS2's graphics overall. The players are similar to reality in both size and how well they move. The Madden Cards feature is also great because it allows you to gain advantages dependent on how well you play overall. The Franchise options are the same as the original Playstation version, but this game is so much better. Believe me I could play a whole season of this game in one day if I had the time. If you own the system, this game is a must have!!!

It's simply the best.

IT is the best game i have ever played. The gameplay is awesome and so are the graphics. I haven't found any glitches YET. The franchise mode is great. They give the rookies real names. And players retire and get better/worse. I highly reccomend this game. But it is starting to get old. I would wait a little bit longer if you are going to buy it cause the price is prob gonna drop.

EA has to make better sports games than anyone. Madden features the best graphics abailable and a neat card mode. The only down side to this great game is that your defensive line won't get near the penetration it should while the computer is always on your Q.B.'s tail. It's a must have game if you own a PS2.

Madden football is smoothly animated. the crunches when a DL flattens you (or the reverse) is sharp. the sound quality overall is great except that the commentary is waaaay too repeatitive for a game of this calibur. in this regard, i think DC's NFL 2k1 is better.

i'm not sure if it's just me, but the players look squat even when i eliminate the flak jackets... it's a bit annoying since this gives them a slightly comical look. while having less polygon counts, the 2k1 version seems more in proportion.

i agree with a previous reviewer's comment about defending the pass and passing in general. star receivers almost always seem to break for 30+ yards and they rarely drop the ball. passing over a DB's head is impossible unless your receiver is so far away that the DB can't touch the pass but there's really rare. the advantage (aside from the cosmetic) of Madden over NFL 2k1 is the franchise system AI is tougher. in NFL 2k1, i used to be able to sign good players for 7 years on fairly low salaries... Madden won't let you do that. good players demand a shorter term or A-Rod type salaries. also Madden's franchise system allows for players that you created to be signed... a failing in the 2k1 system.

if you own a PS2, Madden will keep you occupied for a long time. if you own the Dreamcast, NFL 2k1 will do the same.. if you have both, it's a toss up but i would give a slight nod to 2k1.

No difference

I thought madden 2001 would become even better than 2000 edition but i was wrong. The graphics changed but the linesmen are still 2d pictured. Now you may think who cares? And you might think that playing the game is exciting but it's not! The fans on fifa, nba, and nhl 2k1 became detailed and 3d modeled except madden! Now, the game is having trouble shooting aswell. It runs very very slowly that you may think you're playing golf instead of bone-crunching american football! Just think about what i said and remember, it's up to you if you want to order this game or not!

Madden Is Still The Tops

They've all tried, but they will never suceed the master. Madden 2001 (for PS2) offers up the most realistic football game I've ever played. I've been buying Madden football games since 1996, and have gotten each installment every year. And the folks at EA Sports never fail to out-do themselves year after year. The gameplay is incredible with the most realistic moves, tackles, passes, catches, and players availible. I have yet to see the same type of tackle more than once. The franchise mode is the best it has been yet. Complete with coaching awards! And if you're a statistic person, Madden 2001 still tracks the players' career statistics throughout the franchise mode, and offers very real, believeable stats too. When I went into a franchise mode with the Rams, Kurt Warner threw 41 touchdown passes, and passed for 4,100 yards. And I managed to break the coaching record for highest winning percentage (which I have not done since) I was 13-3 for three years in a row. So if you've ever complained about Madden being addictive, than get ready for the most pleasureable addiction you're ever known.

The best sports console game EVER, no comparison... Has minor glitches, if not, it wouldn't have room for any improvement...

This game has unbelievable graphics, good gameplay, and a great Franchise mode. This is without a doubt the best sports game for the Playstation 2. The only problem with this game is stopping the opposing quarterback. Call me crazy but Akili Smith is not supposed to put up 600 passing yards against the Patriots' excellent defense. Learn to play a little D, and this game is a football dream come true!

this game is the master of all football and perhaps any game ever made. madden has the graphics, the play, the taunts, and even coaches and players on the sidelines with the coaches talking trash and encouraging his players. it is as if, and believe me when i tell you this, you were controlling a real life football game. the crowd cheers for the home team and boos the visitors and it sounds just like on tv and you have realistic penalties and not something that's just thrown in there just so you can say it has penalties like in the sega nfl 2k1 game. if you just sit back and watch the game without touching it you again would think that it was actually a game. ok enough about that lets also talk about the down side and unfortunately it does have some. for instance, the players should have been bigger and even though madden is sweet with the uniforms getting dirty and all you can only choose what uniform you want to wear if you are the home team. you may want to wear a throwback uniform on the road or you may have an assortment of jerseys to wear on the road like tampa bay and you can only wear the one jersey that ea has chosen for you which isn't exactly horrible since tampa has the best uniforms in the league next to the raiders but you get the point. i also notice that when playing with the old timers they call the players by their numbers instead of their names and it would be nice to hear terry bradshaw and joe montana going against one another. but overall this is the best game by far to purchase. if ea increases the sizes of the players this game will rule for years to come.
