This has got to be the greatest football game ever made!! I didn't think anything was going to top NFL2K1 for Dreamcast but this game makes NFL2K1 look like the up&down Madden games of old. You can actually watch the receiver look the ball into his hands. The trading card aspect of the game is ingenious. It's a fun way to unlock secret players, teams, and fields. I had Dan Marino throwing to Randy Moss, Steve Largent, and Art Monk. It's got "the Fridge", McMahon, and Singletary plus many others. A must have game for PS2

This game is the best football game ever I can't see how other people can give Madden 2001 a low rating. This game is the best because the graphics one are the best you are going to get until Madden 2002 cames out, the games graphics are so real we I got my PS2 the day it came out it was the first game I played and I was jumping are because the game play, graphics, options, and modes were great I still play it and now I mastered it. Plus creating a player is the best you can custiomize everything from there hair to there feet. This game is a must must have for those PS2 players get it now!

One thing I have say is that the graghics on NFL 2K1 are better. The only thing they did for the glare on Madden is put a bright spot on it. On NFL 2K1 they made it so it would in real life by putting the reflection of the lights on the helmets. If i was you I would buy a Dreamcast and get NFL 2K1.

I got a PS2 for Christmas this year. I was happy to find out that Madden was the first of all games, because this game has unreal graphics, gameplay and kicks Gameday2001 to oblivion. You can always trust EA to make the best game ever and I can never trust 989 Sports. TRUST THE REVIEWS. If you ever want to buy a football game for the PS2 or any other system,TRUST EA SPORTS. I hope this review was helpful.

One major improvement over the previous Madden games is the player movement. The improvements are clearly visible when the player is catching the ball, taking a hit, getting the snap, etc. Some annoying parts are...
A) The rosters require some shuffling if you want to get them to be accurate for this season (i.e Dolphins start Damon Huard at QB and JJ Johnson at HB, this was never the case this year.)
B) Camera view makes it tough to see sideline action,
C) Offensive plays broken down by athlete, some may like this, but I find it a little annoying when you are looking for a certain type of play.
D) I still can't get a pass interference call, they are murdering my wideouts.
E) Computer is still fairly stupid about clock management.
F) Faces aren't very accurate, see Kurt Warner, he just looks like a monster.

Madden 2001 doesn't disappoint the loyal fans that have stuck with this EA Sports product line. I have played both Gameday 2001 and Madden 2001 for PS2 and have found that Madden is superior in every aspect. It is simply the best football game on the market today!

Out of the games that I have bought for PS2 I have to say that this is my favorite. The gameplay is great and of course the graphics are fantastic. But the one thing wrong with the game play is that the players eem a little small and when the QB drops back you can't see the corners where your wide receivers are. But overall this is a must buy for anyone that has PS2.

This game is so worth it! The graphics are phenomenal! The detail is great to look at, like the veins in the players' arms! The game is very fun. I can actually do well passing and running. The learning curve is not too steep.
Offense Great...Defense Weak

Firstoff, the graphics are great. The replay mode is stunning and even blows away television coverage. The 360 degree camera you control will highly entertain as you gloat over your heroic touchdown pass.
Playing offense is great fun and you don't have to be an NFL coach to figure it out. I was never a real fan of football games because the playmaking required too much research and bother. But this game streamlined the operation without making it too easy for hardcore gamers.
But the defense is a letdown. I don't even bother controller a defender. I just select a play, choose a lineman as the man I control and hunt through the fridge for snacks (I figure that is what Madden would do). It is useless to really try. I agree with another reviewer who says that it is frustrating to watch a player make a catch in double/triple coverage while others drop for no reason.
But the play is accurate. Your team plays up to expectations (at least the expectations at the beginning of the season...who knew the Giants were going to go to the big game?)
Not a bad game at all but find something to do when you are on defense besides playing.
