EA Sports Madden 2002 is the best football game ever made. It improved a lot from last years game. The two minute drill is a great side game. Training mode helps greatly when you start playing. Madden cards keep the game fun. You can even create your own team and play as them in the season or franchise mode. In the franchise mode, you have so many options. You can start everyteam as new and have a draft. You can add the Houston Texans or your own team if you want. The gameplay is great. The only problem i have is with the announcers. Although it is improved from previous years, it still can get boring after a while.
Simply put, Best Football Game Ever!

If you are looking for a fun football game that is easy to pick up and not too complicated this is not the one. While the graphics are absolutely amazing and lifelike the gameplay is very difficult. The rookie level is too easy and the next level up is almost impossible to stay close let alone win. Defense is impossible and offense is next to it. I have been playing this game since it came out and still have not defeated the computer once on Pro level. Graphics are great and features are fun, but games are either too challenging or too easy.

Just bought this game yesterday. I already own the 2001 version. This version is even better. The players are more lifelike (especially movements and faces) and this one has cool sound and graphics. Has new cool replay goes to widescreen, shows coaches, each player looks more lifelike, gameplay is awesome, sound and commentary is better, and has a bunch of other options and new things. If your a true football fan you will buy MADDEN over NFL BLITZ anyday. So buy this game. Only thing ,when you win the superbowl there is a stupid celebration (I remember the old TECMO SUPERBOWL for nintendo where after you won the superbowl you had a parade-that was cool) anyways i predict the giants to have the best d-line in the nfl this year(watch out there coming back) look out for *cornelious griffin*-i called it(at playoff games last year oh yeah)
One of the best games of all time

Madden 2002 is a classic that has already entered into gaming folklore. Like any great game, it all comes down to the gameplay - Madden delivers an immersive experience that will get your competitive juices flowing and have you screaming at your friends in no time. My buddies and I have spent hundreds of hours perfecting passing, running, defensive formations, audibles; it's the complete football simulation and incredibly, addictively fun. I don't know how many times I've been ahead by 7 with two minutes to go in the fourth, and my friend will complete an eighty-yard Elway drive, capped with a two-point conversion, to win the game at the buzzer. This game is the only thing that's gotten me through the NFL offseason, and any die-hard football fan that doesn't own this game is really missing out. So many great memories with friends.
The graphics are superb. Most people mistake the game for a real football broadcast the first time they see it. Players saunter up to the line, get in their stance, and explode from scrimmage with picture-perfect realism. The Madden developers used real NFL players in a motion-capture studio to get the movements, and it makes the game just fabulous; dropping back to pass, throwing off your back foot, juking a defender, kicking a field goal - all are nearly indistinguishable from a TV broadcast.
Madden 2002 has several modes to suit your time limits and level of expertise. You can practice plays and formations against the computer, simulate a two-minute drill, or play a single game with variable-length quarters (this is what you do for pickup games with your buddies). The computer AI can be adjusted from Rookie to All-Madden; All-Madden mode is very challenging and can be difficult to beat even for experienced players. It takes probably a hundred hours of playing to get good enough to beat the computer on All-Madden.
The best feature, in my opinion, is franchise mode. Here you can either take control of one of the current NFL franchises or create your own, use the current rosters or simulate a fantasy draft, and manage your team for up to 30 seasons. I currently have a 10-year Green Bay franchise that's just awesome and sooo much fun to play. You have to look out for rising talent in the draft and free agency, manage the salary cap, and develop players over time. When you draft a player and they start on your team, you actually see their name on the jersey, and John Madden and Pat Sommerall will say their name when they make plays! It's sweet to control a player you just drafted and see what they can do. They must have several thousand names recorded and the whole effect is very impressive.
Speaking of which, the announcing is pretty sweet. John Madden just has one of those great voices you don't get tired listening to. Granted, it gets repetitive, but that can be a good thing; we joke around impersonating Madden all the time since we've heard his lines so many times. Sometimes the play-by-play is wrong, but it's just another chance to laugh at the game.
If you own a PS2, you really should own this game. The controls take a little learning and there a few minor flaws, but it doesn't matter. Pop in Madden 2002 for a guaranteed good time and thousands of hours of playability.

The game is an incredible improvement from last years game. The gameplay is fantastic and new features like the NCAA draft make this game a must buy. The franchise mode on this game keep you stuck to the t.v. for hours. Finally, unlike most games you do not get bored after a couple weeks. If you like football or even if you don't, this game should definately be purchased.
Much improved

I just bought the game last night...The game play is smoother, more animations, etc... than 2001. But the coolest part of the game in my opinion is the ability to import the players from a finished season of NCAA Football 2002. Instead of going through the franchise mode and drafting "no name" players, you can draft players that you've played in NCAA Football 2002. It takes the game to the next level.
Finally a great football simulation game.

I brought my new copy of Madden 2002 last night, I can say you will be impressed, the whole presentation is just like being at an NFL game. They even have Cheerleaders. I had the Cowboys play the Steelers in pittsburgh and the fans were waiving the Terrible Towel, how real is that! The player models have been revamped and now the lineman are leaner and meaner. I am impressed with the dynasty mode. Now you can actually see what being a General Manager is like, If you sign a player and cut him, it will count against the salary cap. Wow I am so happy I will be playing this game throughout football season. Having NCAA 2002 make this a complete package. Now if EA sports could do this with March Madness and NBA Live then I will be in sports video game heaven. Good luck all and good gaming.
